  1. i cant say ive ever tried salmon sushimi before althoughn thats 1 reason why i bury them fairly deep head first so they cant thrash around and damage the flesh too much and the kickin seems too help the blood drain ,many a times ive walked away form the beach with a line of blood filled holes left behind . thanks aqgain for the pointers fellas reckon i may have some decent crab baits this next season .might even give the raw salmon a crack .MM
  2. ill be doing just that this afternoon im guess the same method would prob work on salmon and the likes althoguh im guessin its still prob better too bleed salmon the old school way with the old snap of the neck and buried upside down in the sand ?
  3. now that sounds like a repectable way too get the job done and it leaves a nice hole for my crab bait holder too go through all at the same time cheers .MM
  4. wouldnt surprize me what youve got stashed under your house
  5. hi fella just wondering if anyone could give a pointer on the most effective way too put a carp out of its misery hopefully without makin too much of a mess as i dont usually fish for them but i wouldnt mind stockin up on some for crab bait next season .I managed 1 the other day and being the first time ive ever really caught 1 i ended up belting it on the head with a pole just so it would be quick and relatively painless but it did make a bit of a mess of its head.So anyone got any special way they like too put an end too this feral creature .P.S a shotgun is not an option
  6. caught a few unexpected things over the years although the most memorable aswell as unusual was a 4kg cobia(black king fish) off my local beach chasing mullies 1 night.strangest thing ive caught down here though would have too be a steel capped boot in the onk on sp.MM
  7. i would never :c about some :c trying too take 8cm bream home for dinner nor would i ever go and take the fish out of their bucket and send back too the drink  .MM
  8. top job mate so wheres the banga fish watch bit
  9. reckon itll be st's on sp's and sambo's on those shitty days at porties and mullies in pt river with the hope of gettin too pt augusta for a crack at a king.MM
  10. sorry uhf but i dont think that was enough info  shouldi be fishing in the holeon the left hand side or the right or what about ifi put my bait in the middle .oh 1 other thing should i use hooks on the oend of my line or will the fish just hang on for a fun ride  .
  11.  thats the funniest post ive seen in along time dont want too give out info hmmm lets see werent gps co ordinates enough info on finding some spots  .MM
  12. hmmmm ok then so where did this come from? Just in my experience on here ive never had a problem when ive asked for a rough area too try gettin a fish not sure who your refering too but it doesnt seem too make sense .If you check most of the diff threads on here most of us dont have any problem in tellin people the area's we catch our fish infact i get messeges from people who dont like me tellin where i get fish but anyway sure its not a case of 1 too many :d/  .MM
  13. your right mate the tools are out there just not all of are like that im conciderate i wouldnt pull up in the way of someones fishing thats just rude but if theres no one fishing in the section i wanna swim then all good im going for a swim after all i got the rest of the gulf too fish in no need too upset people who dont .MM
  14. dont think i really need too look out mate after all its a free ocean and if you try fishing where i pull in for a swim then you might aswell be standing on the shore ,cant say ive ever crossed anyones line before either im not having a go just not all boaties are inconciderate true there are some that dont care just find most of us would rather avoid the mess of your line around the prop shaft and doing a seal on the bottom leg . MM
  15. southie and i were talkin about this last night and im not sure on any other places but i was out in the boat with my mrs a while back and she decided she wanted too have a swim so i came inside the reef at noarlunga from the southern end keepin the 10mtr distance from the reef and anchored up id say less then 100 mtrs from the jetty and as it was summer surf rescue were cruising aorund so i checked with them and as far as they were concerned i could go basically where ever i wanted just aslong as i was outside the 10mtr boundary of the reef ,like i said though wouldnt have a clue about anywhe
  16. the way we used too do it was by tying a loop knot and put it through the hook on a pair of scales and load the pressure you want usually 2/3's of the braking strain from memory, although personally i just go with what feels right at the time.Although it is a good way too check your available drag pressure aswell too know when its time for new washers.MM
  17. i run 20lb fireline and 8/0 and 10/0 hooks in the surf and i use either 12 or 8 lb and somteimes 8/0 but usually just 4/0 hooks in the rivers.MM
  18. too right it was rather funny when you think about i was the only 1 fishing the bottom and keepin my rig out of the flow from the floats too avoid any possible tangle issues ,when i just whacked on a small bait on the flick stick too see if there might of been a salmon or decent bream haning around n the next thing i knew the boys were all sayin the usual your on man and before i even had a chance too get my rig out of the water jimbo was takin me for a ride although 1 good thing using the baitrunner it wasnt really a problem but from my experience (not down there was the first trip ) and the
  19. thats right mate your bound too get some knobhead trying too catch it thats just the way it is ,your right though most real fishos wont bother it maybe go for a look thats about it ,guess thats 1 of the down sides of so many media outlets these days things can be online 5 minutes after their reported then it spreads like wild fire .MM
  20. i dont really think anyone is going too try and hunt it down mate but in saying so we dont control anyone if someone goes looking too catch it nothing anyone can do about it just the sad fact of life .MM
  21. someone scored a new tuna boat but what a way too do it
  22. those things are as heavy as .......... we used too get them as by catch on the east coast workin tuna longliners youd find even a fish of that size would be extremely hard too try and get onboard, occasinally our old skipper would ask us too drag 1 up as his family would eat em .Too me its just an overgrown leather jacket but they have a rather hard body and head ugly as s%^t too.seems weird how its made its way up the gulf and into the port as we used too get them about 10hrs steam offshore .They also eat dead squid and fresh mackeralan yellow tail scad baits if anyones keen too try and have
  23. we got a few bream down there lastnight 3 over 30cm no luck on the mullies though few other undersize bream aswell
  24. yep absolutely nothing too worry about i run fireline on every reel i use and every colour does the same thing no effect on the line itself just defeats the purpose of hi vise  MM
