  1. Private dams are the go for the most part
  2. Some great responses thus far! Just what I was looking for, that will get you fired up to wry a line after a lean trot.....except for the Missus..lol.

They sure are a bright silver and strong scrapper for their size, they make great livies...never thrown one on the BBQ though- any tricks to making them more palatable? Or are they just underrated in the pan? Cheers
  4. It could be for its speed, power to weight ratio, surrounds, or the gear you were using....what was your toughest ever opponent that you landed? Mine goes down as a modest 20lb king from the T section of the Old rapid bay jetty. It hammered a live chow and sulked down deep in shortening concentric circles that shaved the barnacle encrusted pylons. I was forced to lock up and go for broke on my old Rangoon cane rod before eventually planking this dirty street fighter.

I've caught some recently at both pt Hughes, wallaroos and port Victoria. Burleying up at these jetties would be a great starting point.
  6. Does anyone know if this is a permanent or temporary closure? Cheers
  7. Snappy tons 'ocean catch', bran, pollard, tuna oil and leftover prawn/crab shells is one of my favourite brews
  8. Wow, bonefish eh? Very exotic- be sure to fill us in about their blistering speed
  9. A beast....where'd you bag that damo ?
  10. G'day mate. Foul bay ( population 3) got its name from the copious amounts of sea weed. Your best bet there is to fish early morning and late afternoon high tides for mullet and yellowfin whiting. A slingshot will pepper some aniseed pellets about, and I would use either fresh goolwa cockles, live worms (hard to find under rotting seaweed but you can buy) or live clickers if you can scunge any up. The place used to get netted pretty hardcore but it's a great quiet out of the way spot.....and if you have a boat the broken bottom further out can provide you with your bag limit of king george. G
  11. Hey kelvin were you targeting riggers when you bagged your solid flounder on the half pilli ? Cheers
  12. What's your secret to making drummer edible?
  13. Welcome....I dont know about hiring, but I've been trialling a few methods, just starting to have a bit of success. I'd be keen to know more too
  14. Will definitely pick it up. Has Murto finally joined strikehook?
  15. Washed down with a nice chianti
  16. I like the sound of a 'condemned pier with access to deep water'... There's definetely not enough of those going around for my liking
  17. Indeed. Weaver I have to ask, do you ever hit the briny or are you strictly a Murray man from way back
  18. 'reef encounters' operates out of Marion bay....snapper, nannygai, samsons, tuna....Marks a top bloke and you can stay at one of his old shacks at ponde as part of the package
  19. I'd like to see it open for catch and release only. Big call there! I reckon fowlers is the best jetty I've fished (obviously haven't wet a line at Stanvac tho)
  20. Nice one! Always thought there'd be plenty of reds lurking there...
  21. I'm willing to pay 50-100 for edition 1.... But most of the older ones like number 31 are between 4 and 7 bucks each.
  22. Just wondered if anyone has had the priviledge of fishing the Port Stanvac jetty? My understanding is that it's currently only an option for the oil refinery employees, and it is a no go zone for boats. There's been recent talk of the possibility of the rules changing....so, has anyone fished it? Heard of someone fishing it? Heard any recent news/ speculation? The deep water and low fishing pressure must make it a gold mine for those lucky few with access.....cheers
  23. Hey mate, they have all the back issues at the tackle store on gulf view rd Christies beach....some of those older ones are becoming quite rare and valuable as collectors items. Edition 1 is almost impossible to find. Im allways looking to build my collection- there are some priceless cracking yarns in the early days...unfortunately I dont have that edition though. Cheers
