  1. I have about 50 cm of heavy galv chain on the gaff proper, but one of my mates put a welded 100mm ring through the top link.A simple hangmans noose through the top ring does it for me........more tension on it,the tighter it gets.
  2. Go into bunnings to where the rope and chain is.You will see it in bags measured from 5 to 20 m, and in various diameters.Think it's actually called "silver" or "silvered" rope.Hope that helps a bit more.
  3. Use online facilities! You pay for the service, use it to the max I reckon.
  4. We used to use a bit of cotton wool wrapped on with a bit of cotton then dipped in tuna oil every third or fourth cast. This works well when they are around a berley trail in huge numbers and competing for food.If they are a bit fickle, small pieces of squid and cockle seem to work well.

  11. Hi all.A nephew of mine has decided he'd like a baitcaster for Xmas.Seeing as I'm the only one in the family that fishes,it's up to me  Not being a tackle junkie,or up on the latest models / brands etc,I'm after some good advice.Reckon something that will fish 10 or 12lb mono........or 20lb braid easily.Mainly fishes freshwater, but sometimes Yorkes jetties with me So all suggestions taken on board........I can see he'll lose patience with it,and I'll finish up "buying it off of him" Last baitcaster I bought was the "Roll Royce" of it's time.........Shimano Bantam!.....before the magne
