  1. I use a 1000-2500 aernos with 5lb braid, and that is amazing! If you want fun and games as I do, go a 2-4, 3-6kg rod around 7.6 and you will love life. I would go for the new, blue Wilson rod, or catana for a cheap option. I've caught up to 4.6kg salmon in the surf on a rod seven foot, 3-6kg and cast heaps far with 20gram lures. Catch more, and bigger ones than the guys with 60gramers.
  2. I would use 4-8lb. Gotta get the bites/snapp offs before you have a reason to upsize, I say. YFW should never snapp you off unless you are lifting them. My opinion anyway.
  3. Well, decided that this needed to be started, as I havent seen one done since I have been on this forum (Don't quote me on that ). What are your top 3 bream lures, whether HB's, SP's, Vibes, Blades, ect?I will get the ball rolling.1) Squidge Wriggler Blood worm 65mm2) Strike Pro Micro Vibe A53 25mm3) JACKALL cherry DD Ghost Minnow 55mm
  4. Defiantly 5. Must have been eating a few sinkers . Little pocket rocket I guess.
  5. Only 68cm! Was VERY fat though. Was a sick fight. What is the usual length for a fish of this size, as I think it is usually a lot longer than this?
  6. EXCELLENT- I love PIXIES Well done on the PB' date=' looking forward to pics! [/quote']Gah, I hate auto correct. Cheers for the compliments guys! The photos may be up to a week away due to the fact we are camping, and someone else took the photos.
  7. Yesterday arvo I caught my PB Salmon, a 5kg beauty caught on a 1500 reel, and bream rod, on 5lb braid and 8lb leader, with a 20 gram knight. Was awesome to catch off a reef, and very hard cover. Was caught off Cummins jetty Caught heaps of others between 30-60cm(a real mixed school) and lost 3 or 4 similar size to my big one, including one that snapped off my roosta popper at my feet after trying to land it for 7 or so minutes. All in all an awesome time. Pixies to come later. Yakman
  8. Yesterday I brought myself a TLD 2 speed 20A, which is now matched to a solid glass JW SU 562GW, and have 300 odd metres of Platypus 50lb (which will be swaped to 15kg when I get enough money). Is this enough cut for medium sharking? Want to use it local, but even more so at Lincoln when I go in a week (and the rest of the EP). Also may use it for light game. What are the basic boundaries of it?(Also brought 130lb black magic leader, shogun 1.5mm crimps and 3 Mustard hoodlum 10/0's)What are the rules for sharking in SA. Sorry if there has been a previous topic on it
  9. Gunna be frank. Not enough. I know to many people who have skimped and regreted it. Save for a few more weeks and get at least a $275 combo, and not regret the purchase afterwards. I have a $300 dollar combo (arenos 1000fa and T-curve 1-3kg and it is just suitable for those weight lures.) You have to keep braid in mind as well.
  10. Yeah, these comments are what i expected. The reason for red or green is because I can get a 300 yd spool off ebay for $27, and they are the only colours. I usually go yellow.
  11. Looking at getting a 10lb, 300yd spool of power pro for my 4000 baitrunnerDL at the moment, and was wondering how much colour matters. I am looking at either red or green. For mainly snapps and salmon lure casting (mabye even for Mully live baiting in onk) i think red is the better option, but whats your opinion?Yakman
  12. They last for ages. Dad had (now i have) an uncealed pack, with someleft lying around of red and gold squidge wrigglers from when squidges was owned by rapala/vmc group (didnt even know they were till i found this pack) and the are as good as new. Only disintergrating ones ('eco friendly') or ones in juice that can dry out that have a 'shelf life'. My opinion anyway.Yakman
  13. You can usually get them from BCF, and anywhere that sells Z-man, but they seem to sell out pretty quick. I went to noarlunga on Sunday and they are out of them till after chrissy. Dont know the situation at the others. I would use a 1/32-1/50 th head. Basicly as light as you can get, as long as there is enough weight to get the tail spinning.Yakman
  14. I would go 15lb platypus. Platypus is amazing stuff!!!
  15. I would probabily second that Southie. The Gen black versitile 1-3lb would be perfect.
  16. Hey guys, just wondering your best catches on light line for snapps now the season is here. Also your set-ups. My best is a 32cm (released obviously) out the Hobie on 2lb platypus braid main and 6lb leader on my Aernos 1000FA and T Curve 1-3kg. Its also only my first real try as well. Hope for a few more this season. Also have caught a 48cm on 6lb through 2 years back on my first bream set-up. Its great fun. Very nerve racking times. The photo is of the 48cm.Yakman
  17. Haha, classic JM. MIGHT GET YELLED AT!
  18. Haha Savagelip. Dad and I were collecting some other bay desirables whenwe were there inSummer and the evil  little things were sticking my feet left right and centre. So painful.Didnt know Aussies actually ate them. Thought they were for the asians to eat.Well, Iknow for next time now.
  19. I have found that Spring, Summer and early Autumn are best from Rapid Bay to Christies, as this is when they are breeding along our Metro/Fluerio coasts, so they are in shallow waters, where as I have heard that on the other peninsilers winter is best. Not to say you wont get them in 'off season' but the best size and quantity are at these times (this is for shallow grounds, as i dont squid deep grounds much)Yakman
  20. Dont know if this specific thing on the Trawler has been posted yet, but the person who put out the potician against it sent out this email. PLEASE READ AND SIGN UP.Dear friends, Thank you for signing the petition to stop the super trawler FV Margiris from fishing in Australian waters. Over 21,000 people have joined this call for action – an awesome response in a short time! The Margiris has left Holland and is on its way here. The trawler has applied to be flagged Australian but has not yet received approval, nor has it been approved as the fishing vessel for Seafish’s quota. A group of
