Do you know what species of Bream?
-
I thought the Fins looked a little long, but I am no expert on fish species.

I went down there at 8am with the kids and have just left to go home, way too many people and I haven't seen anyone with a fish in their possession yet. Even heard a car accident, (screeching tyres followed by bang) not sure where it was though... Going to take the kids somewhere else... since they had their heart set on fishing

The Seven Sisters are an open star cluster in Taurus, very visible to the unaided eye. Usually on a clear night with no moon you can count about 6 stars, the seventh member was said to have been a supernova (an exploding star) which gave the name the Seven Sisters. Other names this cluster goes by are Messier 45, Pleiades, and Subaru (next time look at the badge on a Subaru car). Hope this helps a little.

Took this lastnight of Venus and the Seven Sisters close to one another. Using an Alt/Az tracking mount and a Telescope. You can see Venus in the Western Sky, just after sunset, it's the brightest thing there atm.

Youngest Son (5yo) caught a 45cm carp. Although I had to help him bring it in, because it was pulling him in. -
How do you find the Shimano? smooth? Might head into a tackle shop and have a play with one.

looks good, I have thought about making some up for sand/river bank use. given me some ideas, I was going to use round tubing to go into the ground but angle would be a hell of alot better...

Hi guys,Got myself a Ugly Stik rod thats rated to 3-5kg, whats a good replacement reel for the one that came with it? The one on it now is a Shakspeare Predator 3000. It's a good reel, but is there better?

Sounds sexist to me, what about all those women who go out fishing?Load of carp if you ask me.....

Hi all,Been looking at possible getting an ugly stik spinning reel combo from Kmart or elsewhere. I mainly do fishing either in the Murray river or recently at west lakes and the like. What would you guys recommend as a good choice for a rod and reel combo that is not expensive. Unfortunately I have limited budget and would most likely need to save for it. I heard the ugly sticks are good, but what about the reel, and what ugly stik rod, there seems to be a few out there...Look forward to your comments.

Having the sun in the Same FOV as you are trying to image will always make the camera have a fit. Best to put the sun in front of you so it will illuminate yourself. You might not even need a flash then... tonyb has some good points. Even if you can get one of those banks of LEDs like a 12v under the hood car lamp then use that for illumination. The pics may have a blue cast to them but Auto WB tends to correct this to a degree...

Are you using some sort of diffuser over the Flash? Sometimes flashes can be a little harsh and if you have something shiny it will really bounce back the light. My recommendation would be to use something like a diffuser or tissue over the flash head and if you can bounce the light off something white. If you want to be really fancy you could get yourself a softbox which will diffuse the light even more, illuminating a wider area but with soft light not harsh flash light. You might want to increase the ISO levels also to speed up the exposure a bit to prevent motion blurring during the exposu

I remember playing something similar on my Android Phone, unfortunately I couldn't get the hang of this online version... Bit hard to tilt up the computer to snag the fish

Well lets see if I can jump into the deep end without a life preserver... I recently got hold of a Snyder-Glas 4120 Rod Blank with a Wooden Sand Spike on it. This used to be a Rod, but was then converted to a HF Antenna, now I am going to turn it back into a rod. I have little or no experience in building rods, so this is a new one for me. I thought I would start off with something simple like fixing up the Sand Spike, which I have now completed.I plan to get the guides, handles and Reel seat soon... So this build may take a while, but I will post on here as I am doing it.. Here is the progres

Hi Guys,I was thinking of the following parts for my 10' Snyder-glas Surf Rod... 4120 Fibreglass Rod.Note, all parts from The RodWorks http://www.therodworks.com.au for identification. If I can get similar parts from another source then I am open to suggestions.I already have the Snyder-Glas FT120 Rod Blank. Is overhead, better than spin for a surf rod?
