  1. I have used small rock crabs on a single size 1 hook attached to a rod length of 4lb fluorocarbon leader. Proved good on the legal bream, using two or three small ones if large ones cant be found.
  2. I've caught salmon trout and had follows from snook on the smaller models in the black and sardine models. I've also got some larger salmon on the bigger models from the beach.
  3. I would say that braid would be a must as you will feel every hit as its no stretch. Anywhere from 4-10lb should do the trick and then use the same strength fluorocarbon as your leader. The Berkley fluorocarbon you already have should be ok. The leader is connected to your braid via a knot (I use the Uni-Uni knot, many others though). Then simply tie the leader to your jig head 1/8-1/24 depending on current, with a SP attached. I have used zman grubs, squidgy critters, atomics, etc but I can't go past the Squidgy Wriggler 80mm in bloodworm.
  4. I'd definitely be interested in a grey hoodie with the logo on it. In need of a new jumper and should support the site that's given me so many tips
  5. Headed down to the Onk late this arvo in the kayak. Water level was incredibly high, so much so that I couldn't fit under the saltfleet road bridge at the first entrance!! Trolled around for a while for two ST's that were well below legal. Finally on the way back I hooked and landed my PB onk bream of 33cm on my Bassday lure. I took me for a tow and fought very hard but I netted the beast, measured him and then watched it swim away freely to fight another day.
  6. The lure that has given me the most success is the Maria Mucho Lucir 40g in blue. However my favourite is the Shimano waxwing Boy in Sandeel.
  7. Headed to my local reddie hole today, spent a few hours casting hardbodies and SP's and got nothing. Moved around a lot and tried my trusty switchblade. Within two casts got myself a new PB redfin at 26cm. Stoked to say the least. Unfortunately that was it for the day, one solitary reddie.
  8. Rotare speaks the truth. We can rule nothing out as there are many variables out there that may have influenced the fish kill. I had my opinion based solely on one person's opinion but all of our opinions are based on other opinions from another person who made their judgement from someone else, etc. The only way we can truly find out is when this saga finally closes and the Gov releases the true results.
  9. Went down to the Pat before my game of soccer this morning looking for a few bream and some ST's. The ST's were around and attacked my plastic every cast. Only caught a few but later in the morning I did have a few casts around the pylons for some resident bream. My first cast rebounded off a pylon and barely touched the waters surface before a nice 31cm bream sucked in my Z-man grub and took off. It gave a good fight, better than the ST's so I was happy. Not much action after about 10am so I left.

  11. I've been there a few times, caught my PB bream 36.5cm on a squidgy wriggler bloodworm colour. Also got my first EP there too. This was over the border in Victoria, near Simpsons Landing I think? It is fantastically peaceful down there too but remember to get your fishing license if you're in Victoria as you need one to fish there legally.
  12. It's a great place down there with plenty of snags to cast at. I'd recommend taking some weed less jigheads for your soft plastics or change some trebles over to singles on some of your hard bodies. Makes it easier to fish without having to paddle over to a snag that your lure is stuck on to which snag could hold a great fish that your about to spook.
  13. Locations like the Bluff, Granite Island causeway, Inman River, Hindmarsh River are available in Victor to fish. Tommies found at the bluff and GI if you berley up, squid are at the bluff on clear days, bream are in both the rivers too.
  14. Hiya NickD, I do a fair bit of trolling down the Onk using two Bassday Sugar Deep 50's in bright orange and also its smaller brother the Sugar Deep 35. I have picked up bream on the troll, cast and rolled slowly with a few pauses and twitches and caught some good fish. I have used it in West lakes and the Port for not much luck but I believe that most colours should work if used correctly. I usually refer back to the "Match the hatch" scenario. Whatever is locally found as bait, use a copy of that.
  15. What FishedOut means is that at higher temperatures the zman plastics heat up and change shapes or melt. So it pays to keep them in their packet not in direct sunlight on a warm day. I have had the problem of putting the zman grubs in a tackle box and them melt into one big clump of soft plastic. I should point out however that this is not a common thing, most of the time the zman plastics are fine.
  16. Fished my local freshwater spot yesterday afternoon and finally caught my first Redfin. Too bad he was only a little fella but at least I'm now on the board. Caught him on a squidgy critter in wasabi colour right near my feet.
  17. So far I've got one or two in each size of varying colours. I've caught salmon and tommies on the smaller ones 48 and 58 plus larger salmon on the bigger ones. I would say that common targets would be pelagics like the salmon, kingfish, etc possibly tuna with the largest waxwing. I also think that snook would be a viable target.
  18. Went down to the Onk yesterday trolling lures for bream and maybe a mully. Had my first legal bream on a HB within ten minutes but after that it shut down. No hits for three hours, probably coincided with the extremely low tide. It was the lowest I've ever seen, the river was barely 10m wide in some parts.
  19. I've got the Dynamix Shore spin from R&A, was $100 from memory. 9 ft, medium to fast taper. great for beach luring. Its pretty much an improved rod built from the Starlo Classix range.
  20. Yep gotta agree with the above.Z-Man 2 inch Grubs in motor oil are very good as are the old squidgy wrigglers in bloodworm at either 65 or 80mm.
  21. SA Angler Magazine had a feature on "Monster Catchers" a while back and Craig Siviour caught a salmon believed to weigh around 20 pounds at Greenly Island on a cockle believe it or not.It wasn't actually weighed on board the boat but all the crew on board agreed it was at least 20lbs. And he went on to say that there were half a dozen more 'rats' of between 14 and 18lbs.
  22. The leader should be mono not fluorocarbon as the mono will not sink as much as fluorocarbon. Also the Bassday Sugapen 70F is a gun lure and walks the dog quite well.
  23. +1 for the Aird, I bought one from Ray & Annes a while ago. cost me $100 and came with a spare spool too. great value for money imo
  24. This is what I've got at home, built it myself on a wall in the shed. Basically just shelf inserts mounted on a wall at the correct lengths of your rods.
  25. The silver carp takes over an ecosystem by filter feeding the water better than others. They effectively eat when they breathe which is bad news for other filter feeders. One species of carp is enough in the Murray, let alone two
