  1. I’m generally a shimano man with a bit of Diawa and Abu mostly spend $150 to $250 but look for specials my favourite reels are the shimano Stradic but have a couple of Diawas I love when it comes to rods diawa outshine shimano in the pricing I buy to contradict everything about my absolute favourite rod is my little 6 foot bream rod which is a 1-3kg Azusa it is so light but strong
  2. You can get them in lighter versions mate I’ve got some somewhere from when I used to yak fish, 1/32 by memory
  3. Leave it to cure mate and cross your fingers you got it you won’t know till your on the water anyway its not as hard as we make it sound mmmmm I want a yak again
  4. Yeah that valley looks fine mate also agree with the foam I stick my foam down first, then filled with silicone then pushed my transducer into the silicone and put a weight in it till it cured just got to make sure no air bubbles then it will be all good im fairly sure I have some pics of my AI install somewhere, I will try to find them and put them up
  5. Here you go, just got to make sure you squeeze smoothly and push the transducer in smooth and weigh it down while drying so as you don’t get air bubbles air bubbles are the enemy
  6. Buy one of the small tubes of silicone that has the handle built in its what I used on my moken and adventure island, made it very easy
  7. Put up a pic of the bottom of the yak and maybe inside of it flat spot under your seat?
  8. Agree through hull is definitely easier with a yak ive had two through hull set ups and one off a ram arm off the back off my old PA as it was side scan needs to be tight enough not to kick up with swell and waves but loose enough to kick up if you hit something or beach landing have you bought a sounder yet? im thinking about upgrading my Garmin ecomap5 if your interested
  9. I can’t remember what fishing is let alone a salmon
  10. 15. Beautiful knives Rod if you need any commercial knives etc down the track I have access to just about everything through work and will do Sharp prices for Strikehook members
  16. I use a 1000 for all my fishing from chasing bream In the port, to Mullies down the Coorong to trout in the hill and even while wading the flats ive had it for going on two years and it hasn’t missed a beat I absolutely love it i also have the older fi version which I think is a bit stronger but the ci4+ is just so light it does get a bit of flex when hooked to larger fish but nothing that has worried me
  17. 1.4 low will make it hard For example late last season I fished a .8 low Water was above my waste out past the mud channels and fished the edge of the mud/ weed to where the sand starts We picked up a dozen between two of us all fat 40cm + fish but all on turtlebacks 1.4 low will be too high for the poppers
  18. Will depend on what stage of the tide it is as to where they will be They can be in the main channel, on the flats or sitting against the weed Do your self a favour and take a pack or two of gulp turtlenecks worms as back up They have preferred the plastics over the poppers the last few seasons I was out there a week and a half ago and there were loads around but all still a bit small Goodluck and let us know how you go mate
  19. Bloody hell poops glad you ok Your a tough old bugger It scary, we found out one of my boys has an egg allergy the same way We never leave home without the trusty Epipen now as you would be surprised he many people offer food to him that has egg in it even when they know about his allergy Hope they work out the culprit quickly mate
  20. Get a lil' inflatable and we'll tow you around. Now ya talking I have a blow up mattress that could work
  21. Might be time to chase them on the flats on my 1-3kg rod 1000reel combo = fun Walking out could be the issue ... hurry up and heal ligaments argh! I want to go FISHING!!!!!
  22. Lucky bugger I'm hanging to hit some of the new trails at Fox CreekMight take the boys for a quick fang around the bottom of Cobblers tomorrow arvo if I can get the laundry Reno finished Where'd you go today bet it was fun Love muddy trails New trails at Fox? Only hit there once a couple months ago, when one of our lads crashed and dislocated his clavicle. Would be good to get back. Didn't realise half the lads were riding the Craigburn Enduro so no ride. Contemplated a solo Cleland-Eagle loop...decided to join my roadie crew Sunday instead...the Mtb is waaay more fun & liberatin
