  1. That was a school of salmon pushed up against the rocks in ankle deep water by sharks. I lost about half a dozen lures but picked them back up at low tide later that day. They were still keen for a feed, went absolutely mental.
  2. Anybody guess what these are and why they are there?
  3. barley and offal and stuff. And are you on dial-up still? Google not working? "Haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs); minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally encased in the animal's stomach and simmered for approximately three hours. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a sausage casing rather than an actual stomach."
  4. This is what I'll be getting in a centre console version to replace my 18.5 ft trihull after one more season http://www.advantageplastics.co.nz/Photo+Gallery/SmartWave+SW4800.htmlBy all accounts they ride really well, are stable and lighter than the polycrafts. I have had ally boats, own the fibreglass trihull but after owning the smartwave 3500 I'll not be buying anything but plastic from now on (unless I need more room). You might need more room but I'll be happy to take the 16 ft smartwave where I take the tri hull (behind KI, FWC, out to Wedge etc etc).
  5. All the kippers that I have eaten in the UK (and I love them) seem to have been heavily brined prior to smoking. There was something different to them than cold smoked tommies, snook, mullet or STs, even though they had been brined as well. Maybe the kipper itself??
  6. I go the market and buy fresh pillies and pack them myself - much cheaper. On my longer trips I salt the unused ones myself after they have defrosted. I take a small six-pack size esky and put some newspaper down, layer of pillies, salt on top, another few layers of newspaper, more pillies, salt etc. Pour the liquid out every now and again and once they stop producing liquid in the bottom I repack them and put them back in the fridge (esky if you don't have a engel/waeco etc). After a bit of practice you get to know what is too much salt (pillies are wooden) and what is not enough (stink, magg
  7. I have heard of them being caught near the torrens outlet and off and near the west beach boat ramp. Also saw a topic on here once detailing similar.
  8. With your avatar I would have thought you would understand.
  9. Definitely go a baitrunner of some description. I had an epix once and never again. It seized solid with no chance of repair and yet it went on all the same outings as my shimanos. The dude that tried to repair it said it was an all too common occurrence. I do however have a Salina 2 2500 that seems to be going better. Time will tell.
  10. Okay,After must help from Kingsley and B2F here is a video of flare training to do before the flares go out of date. ]It may take a while to load
  11. Just to expose the realities of single issue parties. They often hold the balance of power in the senate so even though they only represent a single issue thay are often called to pass legislation on a wide range of matters. They may have the deciding votes. No need to apologise, its politics. It should drive us nuts :silly:
  12. Thanks guys,I'm looking for a reel with the drag of a stella or dogfight plus the ability to cast a popper just as far for GTs. I'll be spending 4-6 weeks later this year around Exmouth. Whilst I prefer overheads I don't think I can cast these type of poppers anywhere near the required distance with a 16 size overhead reel or above.http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/lures/large-hard-body-lures-poppers-gts-kingfish-tuna-etc/halco-roosta-popper-195-haymaker/http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/lures/large-hard-body-lures-poppers-gts-kingfish-tuna-etc/riv
  13. Rocket,Do I have to be a friend on your facebook site to read your comments? (I hate facebook)When and where do you have your meetings? Can I attend if not a member? How will you vote for a leader/senate hopeful, or is this done already?Where does the party stand on Gay marriage? I have a good fishing mate who is gay and wants to marry his boyfriend.
  14. Please tell me it`s not something crazy like CBD boat trailers during peak hour, as has been suggested in a RecreationFishersVoice facebook site post...that would be great publicity for the cause and would generate so much public empathy for same.Not.The less scrutiny of my boat trailer the better
  15. I should have read Rangers post before immediately replying to Carl's. Would have saved me some effort
  16. I have checked your website and it contains NO policy at ALL. It is a mission statement. It states WHAT you want to do not HOW you intend to do it. You could probably include the website address in your sig line to help direct people to it.I do not doubt your sincerity or effort and I have subsequently downgraded my opinion of you on this issue from arrogant to naive. If your party is serious you should expand your mission statement. Here is an exampleTo promote the sustainable use of the environment for the recreational and fishing pursuits of the public We will do this by:Establishing a st
  17.  Why the need for a big lever drag ' date=' look at these' date=' you could load the small ones with anything from PE 3 - 8 [/quote'']Throw me a bone. Look at what?
  18. I love reading Alan Hawk's reviews. To be honest I don't understand pretty much what he is saying in engineering terms. One thing that stands out to me is the cost of making these reels strong enough to handle the drag and crank pressures put on them and then sealing all the points where water access. When I consider the problem of turning rotation of the handle in one plane into the movement of the rotor in another plane with some oscillation I can't help but think of helicopters. And we all know they shouldn't fly. If only I could cast poppers with a big lever drag overhead then I wouldn't
  19. Shoot them off somewhere before they expire
