  1. Hey eyeryone,After the water clears up, i'm considering a spot of light tackle beach fishing on an outgoing tide; but I've run into an issue:I want to use my berley pot from the shore but don't know how to go about it, anyone in the know about this, or can think of a way to do it without the pot floating away? Please Help!
  2. The little boat that could! it looks like it has some serious keel weight to keep it stable in the surf, very cool.Complete Hobbies & Models and Hobby Habit might be able to help you track down one of these beauties, addresses are as follows:Complete Hobbies1577 Main North RoadSalisbury East SA 5109, Australia+61 8 8281 4748www.worldhobbies.comHobby Habit462 Main North RoadBlair Athol SA 5084, Australia+61 8 8349 6242hobbyhabit.com.auBest of luck T1ppo ‎
  3. Hey Budman,If it were up to me, i'd be looking at a textured paint finish like this: LINKCarpet is decent too, but if you don't have a pressure cleaner, it won't be that easy to keep it looking nice, whereas a textured acrylic finish will look professional and keep the resale value of the boat better. Also these kinds of finishes are of industrial quality and are used around pools and walkways, so wear won't be an issue. If you change your mind and want carpet someday, you can just lay it straight over the finish, but securing it properly might be difficult without contact adhesive, which is te
  4. How about an alvey?    :whistle:Chick magnet yellow
  5. You're a gun Alex!leave some fish for us amateurs huh?
  6. I think charters that do a lot of business would be good potential customers, guys like Dan hernandez in the US have awesome live bait setups if you're looking for a bit of inspriation.Check out the first minute or so of this vid fridge!
  7. Went out at 0200 again but glenelg this time, tommies were firing for an hour or maybe more and then everything shut down completely until I left at 0700.3 decent size tommies but still no salmon... one day soon!
  8. Beautiful reel! is that a silky oak spool I see? luxe! That said, how are the bearings?
  9. Ouchy! i got a hook in the tip of my finger a few days ago while pulling a knot onto a hook, luckily it was only a size 8, but the bugger still went barb deep!would rather not have a 4/0 in my arm like this guy though!
  10. Headed out Semaphore this morning and got on the water at ~0200, weather was ok and i optimistically had a rod just for livies Once the berley worked its magic, i started pulling up little tommies and rigged one as a livie, chucked some small ones back as time passed and pulled a double header of decent size tommies.Squid kept attacking my livies by eating their guts out and some tommy fillets yielded 3 smallish ST's; must have chucked back about 15 undersize ST's and tiny tommies over the session but ended up with 5 suitable eating fish for dinner tonight! Was a good little trip and I got
  11. Hey luke,This is pretty much what i'd buy: LinkIt's got an 8 inch blade, tough as nails and the steel is a nice Sandvik 12C27 stainless.Should be an excellent knife for the price at $37!
  12. Hey luke, if you want a tough knife capable of processing larger stuff; have a look in MBL on churchill road; When I was working as a chef I got most of my knives there and they're great value.
  13. That PDF guide is really good archer, should see me through the trip! Will be printing and laminating!
  14. Very cool! a bit out of my price range for an occasional rock fisher though. i have access to a metal shop so it should be pretty easy to cobble something together in an hour or two.
  15. Looks pretty good there, easy access to the rocks too. I think i might have to make some metal cleats for my old runners to do some rockhopping; looks pretty precarious out there, would bet there's a few savage rips out there too....
  16. Thanks crusher, that's a good start: gonna make a map of the area and possible catches to bring on the trip i reckon.Would be good to take a break from my mostly bread and butter fishing and go for some salmon, flatties etc etc, so i'm leaning toward doing a bit of rock fishing as well.
  17. Hey boys and girls,Have been invited on a trip to Robe with the family in a week or two and have no idea where and what to fish for. There's the bight, the breakwater, northmost rocks and southern beaches; do any of these produce good fish this time of year? might be able to pack the surf rod but more likely will have the lighter 2 piece rods due to space issues (travelling there in a hatchback!)Besides the salmon, is there anything firing there for LB anglers this time of the year?
  18. Interesting stuff Rockfish, i know they would see the polarity of different colours, all of which absorb and reflect UV differently; but that said, they'll go for both outrageous purple jigs and natural jigs alike on the same day IME.Maybe it IS down to the action of the lure at least somewhat, but there's still a lot to be said for the ol' tommy on a bait needle tied to a float; goes to show that there's nary a fish in the sea that'll turn down a free meal if it means becoming a scavenger!Anyone had any success on floated jigs? I know a lot of you run jigs on the bottom as a single paternoste
  19. Hey everyone,In light of the squid comp, I think we should celebrate squid as a species; they're amazing creatures and an accessible species for all types of anglers (except freshies!)Some things i have always wondered about them though: despite being colourblind, how is it that some jigs will work and some won't? is it the action of a quality jig that entices those big squid, or maybe the size of the jig and how it's worked by the angler?Apparently squid of all types are very sensitive to polarization of light and mostly use their vision to hunt and communicate, so would the new hi tech UV ac
  20. Are you using an albright knot? i use the knotwars modified albright and it hasn't slipped yet.EDIT: if you don't already know the knot' date=' is the link
