bricks got a reaction from seagypsy in Shimano Reel spares and repairs
I had to go across town, because my local doesn't do shimano spares.
But I had them in 2 business days, ordered in based on a phonecall.

When I fish from the rocks I use a float on the mainline with no stopper above it.
The line still hits the bottom due to the sinker, but when you wind in it lifts the rig closer to vertical using the float as a pulley.

I have to say I'm all for the jetty being open to fishing. It should be open, for anyone who can respect it for what it is.Leave it closed to boats indefinitely. The best way to manage the bogan factor would be to run a pay per user system the same as sullies or west beach boat ramps. This sort of "fishing park" idea goes great guns in other areas, and is a great attraction overseas in USA, Britain and many SE Asian cities where it works really well.It sounds like a fair kick in the guts to effectively privatise the access to Aussie coast, but in reality it's the only proven way to ensure a place gets looked after. If it was privatised, the manager could set their own catch and size limits, they could set up trout farm style rates to charge people for the fish that they take home.If the jetty was managed effectively and with a business mindset it could become the premiere land based fishing location in the state. School groups could access the area during the day, providing education and good fishing values to the next generation of knot twisters for a decent profit aswell.I for one would be more than happy to pay each time I visit, I'd pay upto $50 bucks a day for a decently facilitated fishing park. For that sort of money I'd want bins, a kiosk with small tackle and accessories, well maintained WC's and fish cleaning facilities among other items. It could charge as little as $5 per person, but I'm reasonably sure the minimum of facilities would cost more than that to maintain.

bricks got a reaction from Just Me in Fishing Magazines
Short answer is yes, generally printed media products are not fairing so well.I buy the two locals, and also fly life magazine. I mainly buy the mags because I like to sit down and read a true paper magazine, if you work in an office check out people's home screens next time you walk the hall, most people are upto the minute with news feeds on their home screens.

Boat is only a bit testing at the mouth out to the ocean.Mundoo channel and south is the coorong proper.Beacon 19 down to sugars is pretty easy too.Take the boat, you'll regret it if you don't.Just avoid the mouth (easy to do) until you're confident you can handle it safely.

Jack, hindmarsh island is awesome for fishing landbased and boat based. If you're looking for a top down view just google,Sugars beach,Mundoo channel boat rampTHE COORONGBeacon 19 boat rampBasically there are plenty of landbased options, but I'd stay saltwater side of any barrage you come across. It will fish generally the same as the port river ( and i know youve done well there at least a couple of times) in terms of bait and fish, big mulloway, big bream, big mullet at the moment too.If you are taking a boat anywhere near the mouth, you need an anchor about twice the size as usual due to the current and if you're motor struggles at the best of times don't take it anywhere near the mouth without a big pick to throw out if it all goes pear shaped. If you are taking kiddies, use beacon 19 or the mundoo channel rather than brave the sugars ramp and the wade out.Have fun, I should see you there on Saturday morning if youre still out and about.
