  1. I had to go across town, because my local doesn't do shimano spares. But I had them in 2 business days, ordered in based on a phonecall.
  2. When I fish from the rocks I use a float on the mainline with no stopper above it. The line still hits the bottom due to the sinker, but when you wind in it lifts the rig closer to vertical using the float as a pulley.
  3. The break wall is still fine, Marine parks don't come into effect until October, so it's fair game until then. As for confusion.... You and everyone else who doesn't fish every week n the same locations. I'm hopping they publish pamphlets or something. Otherwise bucket loads of uninformed are gonna have a bad day fishing.
  4. I run 3 ft of 10 lb, 3 ft of 6 lb and 4-8 ft of 4 lb to make my leader. When I get too close to the last knot I cut it off and tie on another 4-8 ft of 4 lb line. I use flurocarbon almost exclusively, it seems to knot tighter and roll out of the loop with a bit more grace.
  5. Same as above,I use both depending what I'm fishing for and where I'm going to be hooked up.
  6. I pray for the day when people just mind their own business.
  7. If he wants it he can take it.300 kg is a lot of meals man.
  8. Sugars beach,Mundoo channel,Screw pile jetty,Horseshoe bay,Waitpinga beach.All good, l landbased.
  9. The other states are just as diverse in opinion as we are wiso. The deciding factor is that what occurs in other states, and particularly Victoria is money actually exists to fund the ides and projects due to a user pays system. While SA rec fishos continue to avert a paid licence of some kind we will get nowhere because no money exists.
  10. I have to say I'm all for the jetty being open to fishing. It should be open, for anyone who can respect it for what it is.Leave it closed to boats indefinitely. The best way to manage the bogan factor would be to run a pay per user system the same as sullies or west beach boat ramps. This sort of "fishing park" idea goes great guns in other areas, and is a great attraction overseas in USA, Britain and many SE Asian cities where it works really well.It sounds like a fair kick in the guts to effectively privatise the access to Aussie coast, but in reality it's the only proven way to ensure a plac
  11. Might think he's catching tommies yeah?No size limit and 60 per day?He may be genuinely making a mistake.
  12. As long as you're happy to catch the Ebola virus you should be fine.If the pats closed, they put signs up to,warn you.
  13. Tourists, Horses, Penguins, Whales, Plently of little schoolers if you go at the right time of the year.
  14. Awesome bait and awesome burley. We normally snapp the necks and fillet them about 10 minutes later ( stops the blood going all over the boat)Fillets make good snapper and shark baits, the rest goes back over the side as a burley.Rip the back bone out for a skip bait, or cube it like a Pilchard for snapper burley. They taste great if you smoke em as well.
  15. A wise man once told me:The most fish are caught by those who fish most.I've had good and bud luck fishing metro, dodge tide never seems to weigh into it much.Best thing about dodge tide is that there aren't as many boats out.
  16. Burley is always in my tool kit CFR, how long do you give it before you move on?Do you wait out a spot for 30minutes or more trying to attract fish from the furthest reaches of the ocean, or do you move after 10minutes if nothing takes your fancy?
  17. Hi there gents and gentettes,Most of my fishing is done outer metro and country.I'm probably a product of the areas I fish, but I'm used to walking to any beach on any coast looking for somewhere fishy and pulling fish no worries.Since the introduction of my first born, although I do fish more often (surprisingly), I also fish mainly very close to home on the metro coast. My fishing is pretty equally land based and boat based. Now the problem is my catch rate: Where I used to fish, a bag limit was the norm and a doughnut was a rare occurrence indeed. Now that I'm fishing metro, there's no such t
  18. Worms, Brighton, running sinker, 6-12lb line.Cockles work, so do dead worms and pillie strips.
  19. Ramp ethics is the same as everyday life ethics, don't be a complete knob and you should be alright. If you're frustrated that the ramp is full, chances are so is everyone else, take it easy and avoid making a bad day for yourself.Agree with Jimmy, I take my boat all over the state and sometimes interstate, I've seen more ramps than a drag car. West beach is the worst ramp I have ever had the displeasure of using. Weekends are ok, long weekends are the real killer.
