  1. Making it look easy mate, and congrats again on the win. Still reckon those sunnies make you look like Rocky Balboa.
  2. Congrats on the win Doobie, hope you enjoy your prize mate.
  3. Part carp....part puffer fish! What are you feeding them mate? It looks like a football.
  4. One word.......crap. I have either been working, sick or when I do get out I keep catching bugger all. Hoping to get stretched this weekend, but looks like I might have to work Saturday. Hopefully the Port isn't still shutdown from the bloodworm run, but both Saturday and Sunday look like getting a few showers and winds up to 40kmh. Might set up the 2.1m stunt kite and hunt seagulls instead.
  5. Nice bream mate. Was hanging to fish today, but can't shake this man-flu. Out of interest, how are you going on the carp lately?
  6. Heard many folks say good thing about the Horne's waders, though don't own any myself. I own a pair of full and thigh waders, I use the thigh waders more coz I hardly ever go too deep, and am paranoid about getting swamped in the waves in full waders again which scared the shit out of me. I mainly wear waders when digging for worms, hiking up creeks in the hills or occasionally off the rocks. And thigh waders in the boat are more comfy than the full waders coz you can move around more easily. Both my waders are Shakespeare, $50 for the thighs, $80 for the full waders. And it does get cold
  7. Spanyid Raiders are my fave metals for STs. St Kilda T&T often has them for $5. Good things about cheap metals, is you won't hurt in the wallet if you lose one. StrikePro Cyber vibes have also been good in the past, but you can always use cheap blades and have just as much success. Would be awesome to have a salmon sesh in the Coorong like that.
  8. I'm a traditionalist. I lean towards a 12ft split cane rod with an Alvey side cast reel. You can go swimming with that combo, or lay it in the sand and suds without a worry in the world. Seriously though, very informative thread, interesting how many folks lean toward Daiwa gear. Always been a Shimano man myself, but open to suggestions on other brands. Good topic B2F.
  9. Great prizes, some handy tackle in that pack. Cheers to everyone behind these comps.
  10. PM Alex Micky. Pretty sure he has been fishing some redfin real estate close to car parking. Caught a trout there too. Having said that I recommend the Torrens mate. Heard a theory once, that trout are at the top, redfin in the top to middle, catfish from the middle down, and carp in the middle to lower sections of the Torrens. If you plan to fish off Gorge Rd upstream, check first with regulations on which sections of the Torrens are "owned" by SA Fly Fishers. They stock it and want it all to themselves, which is understandable, but frustrating. Gumeracha Weir was a good spot until a f
  11. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this great site Bjorn. Cheers again mate. Good luck to all entrants, the salmon have been hard to get at times, then firing at other times. Always a good read guaranteed in these salmon comps.
  12. Good to see you getting stretched by some good bream in my local waters mate. Apparently there are a few big sized schools of bream cruising the channel, word is they could be spawning early this year. Have seen some very big sea run bream in the shallows picking food out from among the rocks, problem is, if I can see them, they can see me and are very hard to tempt. I have seen a pic of a 50cm + bream caught at St Kilda a few weeks ago.... Salmon are proving difficult to catch, recently I got into a few small fish when a school cruised up behind the shop. Another great report Alex.
  13. Well played Dylzzz. A great report on a stunning day of fishing. Hope you enjoy your prize mate.
  14. Unfortunately work again Saturday, but still hoping to knock over some of B's XL carp on Sunday. Been having very average luck in the salt lately, so touch wood getting fresh gets results. Get some folks.
  15. While it's always good to hear of a tackle shop having a sale, it is never good to hear that they are closing down. At least I have heard that they are giving the game away because of them getting on in years. I hope they get into some great fishing in their retirement, they have earned it.
  16. Been some great reports in this comp, very enjoyable reading. Good luck to all those in the running. Got a couple of fave reports, but will leave it to the judges to decide.
  17. Any chance you could make up some imitation TT Headlocks 1/20oz with Owner hooks? I am happy to supply hooks if needed, and to pay for what they cost to make, and a bit of profit to you.
  18. They look good enough to eat. How do they go, will they float or suspend when fished unweighted? And the jigheads look alright too.
  19. Very nice catch of snapper mate. Sounds like your old man needs to change his tactics. Either that, or the Gomoku is just a lucky rod. Hope they cook up nicely, enjoy the feed.
  20. Cheers yet again to Bjorn and the folks at FishingSA mag. Just a heads up, the bloodworm run will be starting from tonight being 4 days after the new moon. Might shut down any species of fish with a fat tummy and a taste for all you can eat bloodies. West Lakes will be the go for bream and whiting this weekend. Port River might be shut down for both for at least a few days.
  21. Another top notch fish mate. And love the release, though I thought you were a keeper fisho. My old man nags me to keep bream when we fish together, but they take so long to grow, I like to let them go. And I still reckon those sunnies make you look like Rocky Balboa....
  22. Solid lizard mate, nice work. Hope she cooked up alright too.
  23. Good call Bjorn. Can see some good reports getting posted for this comp. Worth giving up the bream for a while and getting tangled with some STs now winter is setting in. Who knows, I might even throw up a report myself.....
  24. Talking about FishingSA magazine..... I thought there was gonna be a Murray Cod article in the latest issue? Still a top read, cheers to all who put into this report.
