  3. I have the bright blue 20lb on my Certate and really love it. Second time ive spooled up with it.its very supple, ie no memory and you get great casting distance. :)Its made in Japan and most Japanese stuff is the "She-ite!"

  5. Thats because carp are an extremely smart fish...hahahahahahahaha.For snapper fishing in deep water where the current is strong I prefer to have no swivel on my running rigs. Just allows you to hold bottom better. Snapper are also keen to pick up a non moving bait off the bottom.Brett
  6. It seems alot of anglers are using the puncturing the swim bladder technique, but I am yet to see any data as to the survival rate of snapper with this method.I dont trust that the fish will survive infection and die some time down the track. Im just not willing to trust that method yet.would love to hear if any research has been done on any other species where this method is used. What I also find interesting is how Kingfish dont seem to suffer Barotrauma. It seems as if you can crank em from great depths and release em straight back. What a remarkable fish...but any would love to know if
  7. Hi SnappaHunta, this is a topic which is very close to my heart. I have released big fish strong and healthy and in prime condition in 33meters of water. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: The simple key is to fight them to the top very slowly and really take your time with em.... Try and minimise the time the fish is kept in the boat. So its even better if you can get the hook out whilst the fish is in the water at the side of the boat. If you plan on releasing fish then it makes sense to use gamma circles so all fish are hooked in the corner of the mouth and facilitates a quick release. If you fig
  8. Not a bad looking spot that one. Where was that one taken from?I wouldnt mind trying some fishing in the port river soon. I havent fished it for many many years.A big well done for putting a smile on her face. Oh yeah shes enjoying being out with dad. I think theres nothing better than fishing out the back of the truck too.fantastic. Just add a bucket of KFC in the back and a thermos of hot coffee and Id be set for the arvo/evening chasing those mullies on live bait. who needs a boat from that spot...is it deep water right there?

  10. Thats one CRAZY COWFISH! What a "Nut-Bra" cowfish. That has to be the funniest fishing footage I have ever seen.I almost feel sorry for him Definately worth rewarding his determination. you should have just broke off a bit of gulp and fed it too him. ITs biodegradable and atleast he would of thought hed had a meal..lol

Ie I know there is no line of course, but where does the metro area finish and out wide begin? Are you still fishing metro if you are on Trolleys out past 20clicks for example? Or if you are on one of the deeper drops off Wirrina is that still metro say 15clicks plus out.Being a keen snapper fisho, there needs to be some form of unwritten agreement between us snapper fishos or a guide ie past 20clicks is just not metro...who knows hey??? Maybe if your past the half way mark of the gulf your no longer still fi
  12. Hi SnappaHunter, I tracked back through 2001-2010 notice to mariners and I am unable to see any navigation hazards caused by containers coming free.I too am eager to find out further info.I will do some more research tonight on the information that Dubs has provided above.
  13. That St Croix stick not only looks great (I really like the blue you chose), but it should aslo be a fantastic performing blank! St Croix has long been a favourite in the USA.Can you let me know via PM one day on how it performs. Im interested in a lighter graphite stick for snapper. Did you see any blanks in the 6-10kilo range. If so what price do these blanks cost???

  15. You could order in some Berkley Boat Decals on Ebay.com (US ebay)There about $19.95 US plus postage. They look very cool though!!!
  16. Gday Midcoaster,Anything between 20-30lb is fine.Braid or Mono depends if you will be fishing any deep drops ie 30plus meters with strong current? If you are fishing deep drops with current, then I strongly reccomend braid. But bear in mind that it takes a while to learn to use braid ie knot tying can be difficult in rough seas or in the dark. You also feel every take with braid.I have 20lb braid on my Shimano Tekota overhead and fish 30odd metres and have loved it. My overhead does have levelwind though! If you do decide on Mono, make sure you buy a good quality mono.Rgds,Brett
  17. I think the $200 is going to be a bit light on in the budget for reels with 30kg of drag...especially if you want quality.why go past the Saltist, especially at that price - ie under $300 bucks.Do you want new only or is second hand okay?
  18. WHOLEY CRAP...can it get any better than that!!!Happy Times.
  19. Not sure what your trying to say there Tomcool.

  21. In summer time try the sand holes in amongst the weed line off of Henley/Grange. These holes have both blue swimmer crabs and King George whiting in them. Also try the tyre reefs at different times of the year.
  22. I was lucky enough to be with Del and take him to some spots that I knew had trout. The look of enjoyment when he caught his first fish was priceless. When he landed a 46cm fish in a run that I suspected held quality fish, I think I was singing and dancing as much as him.I remember every second of his fight and landing that Brownie.was something I will always remember.
  23. Nice, nice, and more nice.Yeah take a day or two off chasing trout - You have all strike&Hookers permission.
  24. WOW. What a gutsy fish...
  25. I think John Walkley last trip to NZ would have me believe that it has to be the land of the long white cloud.Big Kingies, big Reds and monster trout in nearly every stream. TAKE ME THEIR NOW....
