  1. Thanks for sharing that mate some incredible footage ,and the depths that some of those fish live at is amazing ,i dont think the skate near the end had his sonar on when he banged into the bottom

  3. Hi mate was out in the boat on wednesday just of the jetty towards secliff ,there are gar about but they are just legal plenty of puffers and small tommies dontknow what else
  4. I just get on my hands and knees and fell for them with my hands ,found this to be easy enough might not get as many as quick but it is all fun ,i found a spot where they were but thought i would move bad idea took me a while to find another patch
  5. You are right there dt ,last night i nearly died when i saw how much he bought the reel for ,one thing i have learnt about buying online is know your prices ,if you dont then you will end up in a world of hurt ,i was at fishing wholesalers today and they had exactly the same reel as what this bone head bought brand new ,i should buy it and put it up on ebay he might have a brother only problem is they probably share the same body
  6. Hi aus thats bad to hear you have been ripped of ,i sell gear on ebay and this makes it hard for honest sellers ,one bonus is you at least get your money back i dont know why these people do this ,i know it might sound like i am telling you to suck eggs but i use this saying all the time "if it looks to good to be true then it probably is" i have learnt in life that you get nothing for nothing unless it is family or a great mate anyone else is out to rip you off seen in my work life and out of work hope your refund comes through soon.
  7. Ihave done a lot of trading on ebay as a seller and as a buyer ,yes i have been stung once or twice not for great ammounts though ,do you know where the item was coming from ? australia not overseas,i have never had a problem with overseas shipments ,the worst one i had was from right here in adelaide ,most rods are made overseas and i would say most reels are to unless it states on the packaging "made in australia" then it will be from one of the asian nations ,there quality is fairly good ,even Alvey get there rods made overseas ,the reels are still made in brisbane ,your lures ,line ,braid
  8. Cal the reel was a 520 a52 boat reel ,the 520 c52 is valued at 129.00 new ,because it has a star drag and is not direct wind where as the 520 a52 is direct wind ,no clutch to control the fish
  9. Hi cal yea squizatme seems to be about the best ,this guy was a private seller the problem was the guy bidding was a newbie and obviously didnt check the new price before he bid ,i cannot beleive he paid 102.00 for a real valued at 59.00 brand new maybe he was paying for the corrosion ,the guy selling it was laughing all the way to the bank probably picked it up for 5.00 at a garage sale ,the anglers warehouse is fair on there prices but i dont know what there shiping charges are like ,fishing wholesaler is another place here as well as bcf to look if you want new not to sure about there prici
  10. Thats a great end to your first question mate well done ,and well done on letting the flatty go this might be the start of a new fishing career for you good luck mate and tight lines
  11. Hi all well i have been looking at alvey reels on ebay ,just to see wat they go for compared with retail ,anyway i am watching this boat reel starts of at around 25.00 so i thin it will maybe go for 40.00 max, anyway i go to anglers warehouse to check out the price of a new one ,it goes for 59.00 brand new same reel ,but brand new .By now this reel has gone to 89.00 and im thinking this has gotta be a joke ,check it out tonight it sold for 102.00 +freight as the title says one born every day what a mug .
  12. went for a quick sesh this morning of brighton ,1 gar and 1 squid a pathetic effort gar were very flighty and small ,if i could eat puffers i could have had a descent feed ,bloody rats of the sea i am not to gentle with these vermin i must say when unhooking them ,loads of tommies that were very small so i didnt even bother, still tasted ok for dinner

  17. Hi all a long time ago i used to see guys going along port norlunga beach ,but i thought it was illlegal as kingsley says ,i am a bit unsure why as the reef is a fair way of anyway thanks for the info guys just thought i would look at trying local and see if i could get some bait and enjoy learning something new about fishing ,just gotta get a stink bag and maybe some worming pliers :cheer:
  18. Hi all just wondering if anyone does any beach wormiming in the south ,are there any places to get beach worms down south? ,something that i wouldnt mind spending an afternoon haveing a crack at if you are able to do it on metro beaches ,looks like it could be a bit of fun trying to catch the little buggers

  21. Hi mate imagine how wide some of those lightning bolts are ,they look thin in the photos but imagine if you were closer
  22. this is true rocknev ,i use spinners in my boat as well but after watching the alvey dvd i started wondering if it would be worth while using one as a snapper reel rather than my abu 7000,dont get me wrong here i still enjoy using my spinners but maybe i am thinking its time to get back on the beach and back to what i was taught on ,as for some one saying they arent good for casting long distance there talking out there hat, maybe there not that good for lures but they can still be used for them .
  23. Well ausea all i can say is that in about 8 years they will have been making these reels for 100 years ,they are still for sale unlike others that have come and gone ,they are a robust no nonsence reel desighned for australian conditions ,no 6000 ball bearings to worry about ,no fine mesh gearing or fancy anodising to get scratched or having to worry that if sand gets into it to stuff it up ,just an alround tough as nails reel, that you can drop in the sand and seawater and not have to worry about it jamming up ,they make different reels for different applications ,i woudlnt take my alvey 700
  24. Anyone else here about some 15 year old got zapped tonight at hallets cove, hope hes ok what a bloody fright that would be ,i had one let go right over the house tonightscared the c(**(p out of me.
