rocknev 2
fishing with my bro clive and mate derek... clive sitting on rocks about 20 mtrs away, huge run on his rod, hes up, and faceplants the rocks... and didnt move. weran over, and in typical true fisherman mode, he shouts out GRAB THE ROD.. so i did.. hooked the snapper and passed onto derek...clive wasnt moving... gets him up, and his shoulder is in a terrible position.fish was snagged and lost, packed up, and a 130kph run into hospital... doc said its not dislocated as it sure looks like, but he may have broken or cracked his scappular or whatever its called.. call it a shoulder blade...all the could do ...was ice it, pump some morphine into his arse, and xrays in the morning to see the damage.get well soon clive.. i need a fishing buddy.love ya bro

Red1396235487 0
Not good at all, hope he makes a quick recovery. I broke my ankle badly about 2 months ago on the Outer Harbour Breakwall at 11pm at night...wasn't my best move:dry:
rocknev 2
my bro is 53 yrs old, loves his 5.2mt streaker boat, is a gun on the whiting, but choses the rocks to fish for snapper and leaves the boat at home... he like me, enjoys the challendge of landing a knobbie from the stones... just rang him, and hes feeling down in the dumps... all they can do is sling it, and offer pain relief, and he will be out of action for a minimum of 6 weeks... hes booked a family houseboat on the murray for him and his family in the middle of jan... so hes at least hoping to be fit and well enough to do that,,, he should be right though....wish i could crack a can on christmas day, but im working instead... the joys of shiftwork
Jack. 10
Bit of relaxing on the house boat, then back on the rocks for February to catch the fabled "one that got away"

afishyfish 4
he also broke his arm.. humourous bone' date=' and the doctor didnt see it broken on the exrays... words fail me...[/quote']Its bloody amazing what the medicos miss sometimes :side: After being hit by a speeding car while trying to rescue another hit-run victim, I ended up in the QEH for about 8 weeks. The first week or so I was only just concious, but soon afterwards, despite pain from my other injuries ( haemorraged spleen, haemmoraged liver, broken and dislocated knee and badly twisted shoulder, apart from the cuts and bruises ) I noticed my left ankle didnt feel quite right.I mentioned it to the registrar three or so times and was ignored, so rang my GP, who insisted on another Xray, and sure enough, theer was a spiral fracture in it  Why that didnt get picked up in the initial Scans in emergency I dont know, unless they just wanted to make sure I wasnt going to bleed out first

Usually in rural centres, the emergency cover is provided by GPs or SMOs and not orthopedic specialists. Also sometimes with only hard films the quality of the images is poor. Most simple fractures to the upper humerus are treated conservatively, with a sling so at least it has healed. The next step will be physiotherapy. If your brother has private cover, I would definitely suggest seeing a private specialist or orthopod.
