wishing2Bfishing 0
weather is shaping up to be fairly good for the comp which is good as we are planning on staying out for the whole 3 days or until we get a fish worth weighing. cant believe that no one on strikehook seems to be entering?!
Boyington214 0
Went last year. The weather was forecast to be pretty reasonable. But it wasnt. Use caution. rocknev
samboman 319
Not this year, but will def be in it next year Sambo
wishing2Bfishing 0
we will definatly be checking the weather regually whilst out there, im not gunna risk the boat or mine and my crews lives for a fish but we gunna be giving it a red hot shot!
Boyington214 0
That's it W2BF! Gotta be in it to win it!
ScaleyTom 19
cant believe that no one on strikehook seems to be entering?! :dry:I'm working so i cant. I reckon the comp is losing/has lost the appeal it once had, especially for interstaters. Due to not being able to catch that horse around the kinfish pens anymore, and a lack of snapper now days all in all.The locals that are in the know pretty much now have the comp sewn up. We'll see what happens this year, but im betting a low number of fish being caught. urhookedfish and Boyington214
wishing2Bfishing 0
yea, i reckon that the winning fish might be as small as 12kg this year. you never know though
CallopHunter 1
AS SMALL AS 12KG I would be happy to catch something breaking through to the kilo mark! rocknev
wishing2Bfishing 0
what i mean is compared to last year where the winning fish was 15.26kg this year the winning fish will probably be smaller, based on what i have heard is being caught
ScaleyTom 19
Still might see a couple of horses caught, i wouldn't be surprised if the winning fish was up around the 14 - 15 kilo mark, but no where near as many fish over the 12 kilo mark, as in the glory days of the pens. The bigger ones are much harder to scope out, and as i said before its the locals with some homework up their sleeves that will do well. This has turned a lot of victorians away. rocknev
Ale 301
Might do wonders for the tourist $$$$, but the sooner such a comp is canned the better it will be for the Snapper stocks. urhookedfish, rocknev and Savagelip

ScaleyTom 19
Just went down to have a look at the leader board. 12.5 kilo in front, caught by a local. Lots of 11 and 10 kilo fish make up the top ten at the moment. Not a big leader board by Whyalla standards.Dont think theres any interstaters in there, mostly local people. Wonder how wishing2Bfishing is going
wishing2Bfishing 0
hey, we did ok in the comp, biggest fish my boat got was 7.88kg. i will write up a report with photos tomorrow when i get the photos from my mate. it was an interesting three days though, thats for sure urhookedfish
