  8. Thanks kelvin, yeah it's metro. I reckon I could definitely go smaller hooks, I've only ever caught two snapper from that spot and they were just over legal. Other fish around the place like salmon, wrasse and leatheries I could catch on smaller hooks too so makes sense. I think I might have been setting my expectations too high in the past from this spot. Also keen to try singles too. I guess if I still lose hooks I'll lose half as many with a single hook.
  9. I'm about to head back to a favourite spot of mine to start my land based snapper mission due to the reports that have been coming in lately. It's a spot where I lose lots of rigs. I have always used a peternoster rig, a 3oz or more bomb sinker on the bottom and roughly 30cm up a dropper loop leading to 2 snoozed 6/0 circles. When I reel in I give the line a good whack before winding in hoping it doesn't get snagged on the rocks and pulls through tough weed. It's pretty good rig that has worked well but I still lose heaps of sinkers and hooks so.... any suggestions what I can do to
  10. Been fishing lately? If you would like a chance to see your fishing photos in this report please send the details to our new email address: portlincoln@spotonfishing.com.au Pictures are of local angler Karen Evans with a 3.5kg salmon on cockles at Wisemans Beach and local fishing guru Tom Tierney with a not so local 44lb King Salmon caught in the Alagnak river on his recent fishing trip to Alaska. Now for what was biting locally and where: Elliston / Sheringa Salmon of reasonable sizes are being caught from most beaches in the area. Squid and tommies from the jetties for
  11. All good rod, I get called lots of things Yeah for me at the moment I don't have much storage space for bait and berley so I'm limited to small batches for a while. Mid range I might be able to manage. One day I'll definitely have to go the mulcher they look like they do a perfect job.
  12. Had to start somewhere. I was actually quite surprised that little mixer managed to chop up most of the ingredients pretty well. Next time though to chop up the fish frames I'll need something more powerful, not sure if I'll go straight for the mulcher but perhaps some kind of meat grinder.
  13. Thanks for the suggestion iron chef. I did consider curry powder but wasn't sure if that was more for just certain species of fish or if it worked as a good all rounder.
  14. I finally got around to making a batch of berley blocks. Ingredients included old bait like cockles, a few weird looking pillies, salmon trout, salmon frames, tommies, fresh prawn shells, squid, some old snapper and stale bread, I think that was about it. Some nice containers ready to use. I saved a few round containers so the berley could go in those small, screw top, plastic berley pots. My berley BEAST! Ok not a beast. I actually chipped the blades on the fish frames The berley mix looked awesome and sooo very tasty. Packed and ready to freeze.
  15. Awesome bream there mate! I deliberately left all the fish untouched in the morning so you could catch em all in the afternoon

  20. Been fishing lately? If you would like a chance to see your fishing photos in this report please send the details to our new email address: portlincoln@spotonfishing.com.au Finally a few nice days have given local anglers the opportunity to get out and get some fishing done. 21. A question with berley on the bottom. Do you guys mince and mash up your berley real small so the particles float out easily or do you keep it chunky so bits of it stay in your berley pot and are more of an attractant than a feed?
  22. Those jigs look awesome. I'd love to see them in action.
  23. Absolute monster Chuck, that would have been an exciting one to land.
