SurfcaztR reacted to TENNANT in Rui squid jigs
Thanks MAH, I ordered both of theses yesterday and 8 other, I am keen on trying the KG whiting and the sand whiting, Squid have been around since the Jurassic I figure by now they must know what the fish they eat look like, I don't hear a lot of people using them, every one is mad on pink.

Yes got about 6 jigs in that brand, they work just the same as more expensive brands. But then so do the cheap ebay $4 no name brands, just depends on one's colour choice for the day.

Before you judge a crazy, you should run a mile with their tackle box. That way, when you judge them, you're a mile away and you have their tackle box.

The professional's choice.
I really like the new Daiwa Emeraldas nude range, at around $13 (Tackleworld Adelaide) much cheaper than Yamashita/Shimano. I like that they sink slower because they are designed to allow you to use 3g or 5g weights (or none). They look quite impressive IRL too, and the abalone saddle is a nice touch. To be honest I've caught more squid on $2 jigs than the expensive ones but they fall apart faster, mostly, but they also don't bring tears when you get a bad snag.

SurfcaztR got a reaction from doobie in Squid jag colours
Squid see light and dark colours only more like black and white,i'll usually start the day with the two lightest coloured jigs on two rods then progress to the two darkest colours. Can mix colours too this is why carrying a range in sizes and colours improves the catch rate. The other thing is how the jigs are worked in the water to get there attention for hook ups,i'll bring them through the water as a distressed fish not as a drifting prawn.

SurfcaztR reacted to Tinker in Fishing 100 - 150 days
Lazy bait sesh tomorrow up the Warren and with water levels high will be up in the timber. But with clear water deep diving lures will work well.
Hoping to get another Cod and next time I get one it will be going on the brag mat coz it sucks having to take photos of them in the water when fishing solo.

Hi,which part of the Murray do you head to usually and what species are you targeting

And I find you don't need to find the salmon school with vibrating blades coz the school tunes in to the noise and they all move toward it.
And I find swapping the trebles to high end single hooks reduces the cabbage caught up and makes a better hook up.

My fishing depends on my free time from work lately.
Both days on the weekend then one or two days during the week if I finish early.
Mostly freshwater and if it isn't a lazy sit down bait sesh I will be throwing lures about.
Usually the Warren Reservoir or Murray on weekends and then fishing local metro muddy puddles during the week.

SurfcaztR reacted to Tinker in Long gone Shimano Symetre reels are back
Just checked and my Symetre is a 1500.
Bought it years ago and looks a bit worn on the outside but all internal components still work smooth as silk.
Another good low priced Shimano reel is the Sedona.
Got a few Sedonas from 1000s to 4000s on my heavier rods for freshwater natives and I think they are the ducks nuts.
And you can't beat the 10 year warranty on all Shimano reels from the Siennas up.

Those reels really punch above their weight.
This was a Symetre 2500 matched up with a Raider 1-4kg rod.
