  1. simple bloodknot works just fine for me. used it for 3lb braid upto 80lb braid and 6lb to 100lb leader. fought rays, jews, snapper, bream, carp, salmon never had a bloodknot fail on me. dunno how these other knots fail if there meant to be better.
  2. lots of small ones for me. nothing legal yet this year.
  3. how far are you sleeping from the water? just get an opera house yabbie net and block up the entrances. put your fish in there tie it onto something and leave it in the water. just be careful when low tide comes.... not like my livies died coz they weren't in water anymore.if not catch mullet and trumpeter they live for hours without the need for constant water changes. i've had mullet live for 2 days in a bucket of fresh water. yep fresh.
  4. just remember to take your carp with you or feed them to the pelicans. they do make excellent crab bait and berley. i know people who use the fillets for snapper bait. there's plenty of them biting in the torrens at the moment.i use a 250 size reel with 3lb braid and 6-8lb leader on a 1/4lb - 4lb rod. usually size 1 or size 2 suicide hook and fish with the bail arm open. even the small 60cm carp give a good fight on this kinda gear.

  6. gobbleguts and black banded sea pearch
  7. both caught at outer harbor on bits of pillie.
  8. if its not a household name don't buy it. i had a melaluka reel almost exploded on a snapper. few mates have pelagic reels but they are trash. i'd use a marado over them anyday. they look decent but the internals are crap. hardly hold drag and when under pressure the handle feels loose and comes loose. rods are a different matter i have a few pelagic and melaluka rods which i can't fault for the price.
  9. okuma salina 2 and 3's look ok for the job. cheap and should handle some decent sized tuna. start at 149 from ray annes i believe.
  10. 10lb mono or 10lb braid? 10lb braid should cast out just fine still. i use 3lb and 6lb braid 6-10lb fluro carbon leader about 1m-2m is plenty.
  11. pour some stimulate ultrabite into the packets. i've had squidgys for 2-3yrs old and they still work.

  13. i recently got a 13ft6" rod 3 piece. very awkward to use, i'm 5ft10" maybe thats why. only good thing is that its 3 peice so easy for transporting. still prefer my 12ft 2 piece. 1ft6" does make a lot of difference to me. casting wise i don't see any difference in casting length between the two.
  14. my drunk mate dropped my jarvis walker nibble top rod and shimano fx reel in there a month or so ago also had a mate drop his keys in  300bux for a locksmith to make a new car key expensive fishing trip for no fish :pinch:
  15. not fishing at that spot mate. just walk down to check out the freshwater inlet. the things ive seen chilling in that lil area
  16. signs are still there even spray painted on the pavement seems like no one gives a toss anymore.
  17. plenty of fish but is it acceptable?(pics were to massive to post in the forum so click links to view)http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/ershy/20121126_1805101.jpghttp://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/ershy/20121126_1836081.jpgthis arvo down at trimmer parade at least 5 maybe 6 guys fishing the 'no fish' area taking a few bucket fulls of kgw and some st. even 1 of the blokes had such a kind heart he put back and undersized kgw he foul hooked using a treble. didn't see anyone of them measure any fish they caught i did look into there bucket and some of there catch were very questionable.
  18. simple answer yes. i use a 1/4lb to 2kg rod for carp with a 250sized reel. never had an issue.
  19. i tried basa in west lakes once. the bream wouldn't touch it but the st didn't mind having a mung. but they were in a feeding frenzy so they prob would've eating just the hook
  20. good read kelvin, i had one of those melaluka reels caught 1 snapper with it and tossed the reel it in the bin. it was about 15bux well spent caught me a fish worth plenty more then 15 thats for sure.
  21. oh with the k mart sinkers if u get the triangle ones with the swivel attached to them be careful when casting the swivel has a tendancy to detach so ur sinker ends up flying off and all ur left with is half a swivel.
  22. i use a few jw marados mine haven't broken yet but spiderpig and codey had the same reels and they broke after fighting a ray each. i use some of the jarvis walker gold and royale series of rods for about 29bux there cheap and work fine for me. prob don't buy anything with 'redbone' labelled on it.
  23. rays outdoors and bcf as I can't afford the prices of most other places. also buy a few things off amazon.com. bait i'll buy from whatever bait shops on the way to where i'm fishing.
