Mulloway numbers have declined, that's why they increased the size limit to 82cm a couple of years ago.
Long story short myself and S&H Tony B were invited by FRDC to attend a full day fisheries seminar/course around 4 years ago, that was being run in every state, anyway Professor Mehdi Doroudi (Executive Director Of Fisheries and Aquaculture; at that time) attended also and give him his dues he allowed us to ask him questions (one on one) during the lunch break and I asked him why doesn't the size limit of Mulloway down the Coorong meet their own requirements,

    Size limits
There are minimum and maximum legal size limits for some fish species that are caught with rod and line or other permitted devices.
    Size limits let fish:
reach maturity complete their breeding cycle contribute to sustainable fish stocks. Fish taken for use as bait must still meet size limits.

which he had no answer too but agreed at 46cm the Mulloway are not mature and he would email me a response after he further investigated it. I never got a reply so I emailed him and got some vague answer that had nothing to do with the direct question.
I'm not having ago at those who fish there and keep any legal fish but find it strange that in a known nursery PIRSA set a ridiculous size limit imho.

    I completely agree with this.
There's plenty of bream in those places, so not much sense in a stocking program.
A mulloway stocking program would get my attention. Better yet, effective management of mulloway in the Coorong, giving them a chance to replenish themselves naturally, would be even more interesting.

    Yep
Plus it will require those that work to take a day off and by memory I think they only get compensation for the travel costs.

    Optimistic about this selection.
I hope they can achieve some positive outcomes for recreational fishing in SA.
And fingers crossed for freshwater folks that the opening of all reservoirs gets final approval with their assistance.
And maybe more landbased access and infrastructure in the Port River.
But we might need to introduce a recreational fishing licence for that to raise the funds.
Works in other states. Just wondering what other people think about it?

FINAL LINE-UP FOR THE NEW MINISTER’S RECREATIONAL FISHING ADVISORY COUNCIL ANNOUNCED
    Monday 25 March 2019
The Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council has been finalised with the announcement of the five successful individual representatives to complete the nine-member council.

Shane Mensforth, David Scholefield, Amanda Whitehorn, Peter Teakle and Brian Wheadon will join the four appointed recreational fishing organisation representatives to provide feedback and advice to government on recreational fishing development, initiatives and big picture policy issues that impact the sector.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the finalising of the Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council is another election commitment delivered by the Marshall Liberal Government.
“I’m delighted to announce today the five individual representatives elected by the fishing public, to complete the nine-member Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council,” said Minister Whetstone.
“The Marshall Liberal Government’s commitment to refreshing representation for recreational fishers has been achieved through a transparent, open consultation and voting process.
“The voting process has been transparent and historic - for the first time in South Australian Government history, Blockchain technology was used for the voting process. Blockchain is an exciting emerging technology which is extremely secure and already used all over the world to perform valuable transactions.”
Minister Whetstone said that voting was done using the preferential method and counted using the proportional representation model.
“By ensuring votes flowed through a preferential system, each vote has counted,” said Minister Whetstone.
“I thank all the candidates who put their hand up and nominated, and every recreational fisher who voted – you have made your voice heard, and these five individuals will represent you on the Council.
“Recreational fishing provides significant social and economic benefits to our state. For some time there has been a need to enhance the dialogue and communication between recreational fishers and the South Australian Government, which is what this group aims to achieve.
“I am looking forward to working with all nine members to further our commitment to South Australia’s diverse and active recreational fishery to improve the fishing experience.”
Ministerial Recreational Fishing Advisory Council members
    Shane Mensforth
    David Scholefield
    Amanda Whitehorn
    Peter Teakle - inland fisher
Brian Wheadon - representing the tackle sector
Tracey Tito - representing FishinSA and the South Australian Fishing Alliance
    John Thomas - representing FishinSA
Ian Fitzgerald - representing RecFish SA
Graham Keegan - representing the South Australian Fishing Alliance

Interesting question....,why dont I catch fish?
I am partly blaming the internet for this dilemma, nowadays  info is hand fed.Back in the day it was fishing reports in the paper, after that it was up to the individual to actually go out ,see what other experienced anglers were doing right, taking in the info, spending time on the water, working out tides, feeding habits, gathering or buying fresh bait, experementing with different rigs...basically doing the hard yards.
You can only be hand fed so much, time on the water= experience ,actually  working things out yourself plus seeing from others  is the key.Plus one thing my Dad always taught me is fish for what is there. No point fishing for salmon trout when everyone around you is catching  say yellowin whiting for example.
    Cheers and all the best.😎

Well I'm all done apart from the battery mount. Thinking about getting one of them Hobie hatch battery holders, I'm guessing Brink's will have them? Just hope it fits.. i reckon I saw somewhere that there only 150mm wide and the lip on my hatch is wider..

    Cuttla pics.

The black cord you can see in aussieDave's photo of his/our anchor set up is a piece of bungee i.e. drop the anchor, tie it off on the buoy then clip the bungee onto our anchor trolley (in your case onto your yak).  If you need to follow a fish unclip the bungee from your anchor trolley (yak) and you can then come back to the buoy and clip back on. The idea of the bungee is to act as a shock absorber thus you will not need chain or a larger anchor to hold bottom.
This set up is perfect if you have been burleying up your spot or you are fishing a specific piece of structure (rock etc.), i.e. you know you are exactly back on your spot.  In your smaller yak you can probably get away without a anchor trolley, you can see mine in the previous photo I posted.

You should no issues charging the battery with a normal charger if you're using one like in Lure's post above, I use a standard car charger for mine.
I use the ram ball and a spring loaded connector to my head unit, it works well.
I also use the Hobie, I don't know what it's called, plug thing to pass the cable through the hull, it allows three cables to be passed through and comes with multiple sizes of grommets to seal it.

You may be able to save a couple dollars by shopping around or you could simply go to Jaycar and get the battery and charger.

    Pros and cons for both.
Using the original mount adds no additional cost, keeps the sounder lower and out of the way. Higher may make it easier to read and adjust but it may also be more likely to get in the way. Also consider which side you prefer to enter the yak from and mount the sounder on the opposite side imho, especially if you intend to launch into any sort of sea (shore break). I like to keep the left hand side of my yak free/uncluttered i.e. ease of getting on-board and remount if you happened to go arse up. KISS = keep it simple steve

Have you sorted out a anchor i.e. in the above photo you can see the yellow crab buoy and cord, which has a folding anchor attached to it i.e. Tackle World Metro sell the buoys. Most of use that go to see use these, although in a smaller yak you may prefer something smaller than the buoy we use.
Suspect you already have a life jacket but if you haven't may I suggest a kayakers vest type especially if you intend to go to sea, i.e. aussieDave and others will back me up on this. The yoke inflatables PFD's are ok for protected waters (West Lakes, Murray etc.) but even then if you can get use to wearing a proper Yak vest life jacket you will be better off imho i.e. S&H Kuerschie uses a kayak vest type Life jacket, even on the Murray.

I ended up opening the bottom up a little bit. It's now glued into the hull. Was going to fit the TD today but i might hold off till after the weekend as I might go out Sunday and want to give it plenty of time to dry. Decided on the run of the mill 7ah battery (still need to purchase) and i'll either make a mount or buy one of them hobie 8" hatch battery holders.
Any seggestions or a charger for it? I'm guessing i can't use my car charger? I think it's only 2.5A i reckon.

A mate has put the idea of getting a ram mount for the head unit rather then the factory one, will get it up a bit higher and dryer, Still looking at options for that, Trying not to spend to much if i can get away with it.

On my lowrance hook 5 (probably the same transducer) i made the bottom one slightly larger than yours so that the silicone came up the sides as i pushed it down. The top looks the same as yours. Mine works perfectly but I don't know if it would make any difference with the bottom layer being a bit tighter. Also I've done two installs (shifted from one kayak to another) & I did notice a few air bubbles when I pulled out the first one & it still worked perfectly. Maybe it depends exactly where the air bubbles are on the TD. I think it's more important to make sure you put some weight on while its drying & let it set properly for a few of days at least.

    This is what I use.
A lot of yak manufactures have copied the Hobie hatch and as such the Hobie bracket fits them also i.e. battery clicks in the holder and the holder sits on the inside lip of the hatch.

Some yakkers  also use these but I'm old school.                                                                        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-DC-12V-1800-20000mAh-Super-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Lithium-Battery-Pack-AU/273408461305?hash=item3fa86a09f9:m:mkWzZDW_uf6ZSpJttoQ8d4w:rk:1:pf:0
