Haha good video mate, nice work on the quick reflexes! It has happened to the best of us....One time in town fishing behind the zoo,a carp ripped my rod out of the holder and dragged it across the grass to the water... then into the water, i did a massive dive into the stinky torrens and managed to get a hand on it. Started fighting the fish in the water while back paddling to the bank, handed jimmy my rod, climbed out, fought the fish and landed it.... Would be one of my most memorable catches...Pic of me in the water, fight the fish. And said fish, bastard thing!

I have the BOSS tackle bag from BCF, fits 5 big trays, and a few small ones, front pocket is jammed packed full of s/p packets.I can take it anywhere and EVERYTHING I need.or leave it in the car, and take my vest, and a few smaller trays with what is needed.

I have a pair of those cheapo surf combo waders, they do the job fine, rod and reel is still alive too :lol:Depending what you want to spend, look at some Horne waders, awesome quality. Personally i'd just get the cheap ones, jumping fences and stuff destroys them pretty quick....Also if you find the soles hard on the feet, you can always buy some of those cushioned shoe liners and slip them in.

Well FINALLY a decent sesh!!!!Got there at about 3pm with Grego, already 20 odd people fishing, so found a spot and set up, started off quietly then Grego was on, then on again, then again... :S Then FINALLY i got one :lol:Ended up 5-6 for Grego and 2 for me, my biggest was 39cm and over a KG i reckon. was a pretty good sesh, can't wait to head back there!!!While getting my gear ready i couldn't decide if i should take my waders or not, so didn't bother... soon as i walked over the dunes and saw the water i had a "WTF didn't i moment" :lol:Next time i will be much more prepared....Also, call me crazy, but my rod got in the shower before me when i got home, have to wash all that salt crap off them...

I actually have a 6'6 15kg Pelagic rod and have hauled some big things in with it, maybe i have been lucky so far... :lol:Also, a couple of years ago When Del and I got back into fishing Del brought some of that PELAGIC EXTREME SPECTRA braid 1200m of 8lb for stuff all, we spooled up many reels, and to this day it is still the best braid i have used, never got wind knots, awesome knot strength, when i find some again, i will be stripping the suffix off my SOL and re-spooling it again with that, just hope the quality is still as good. *puts flame suit on* :pinch:

My story isn't as good as some of these but here it goes....Being a Victorian... When I was a kid we had a caravan at Lake Eildon and spent most weekends up there, first off dad had a 13ft tinny then upgraded to this bright yellow 18ft half cab, most of the fishing we did was trolling tassie devils and older style blades. Dad had some pretty sweet overhead reels with what i thought was braid, but only the other day we where having a chat about fishing and told me they where "lead lines"? Most of the time we would clean up on big trout. If the trout fishing was slow we would tie up to one of the MANY dead trees in the Lake and go jigging for redfin with a metal lure with hooks cast into the head of it, once again we would clean up. I remember one weekend he went away with his mates, much to my protest/hissy fit (still wouldn't take me) he come back late Sunday night with the holy grail of trout, once cleaned, had to be cut in half to fit it in the freezer, and damn it was tasty. Went up a couple of times during duck hunting season but that was normally a boys weekend away, and got pretty bad up there at one stage with pissed idiots shooting each other accentually so I was best left at home. One year we hired a houseboat on Lake Eildon for a week and cruised around fishing from it also had 2 boats in tow so would take off on them also. One night sticks in my head of watching dad and his mates catch a pregnant female trout and killing it for it's eggs then using them for bait and cleaning up (looking back don't think i agree with it) but it was amazing the amount of fish caught that night using that method. Then as i got older, the trips where far and few between as dad started his own company and had less and less time till no more. In about 8yr at high school my best mate invited me to come fishing with him and his dad, because they would go to various locations most weekend. I would stay at his place the night before, as it was always a early start, his dad would come wake us up at 4-5am after much protest we would get up and get some food into us and head off, most of the time we would go chase trout in the Goulburn river, his dad has some great spots along there, use to do pretty good using worms or gents under a float, now and then we would go to st kilda and chase whiting. During the week after school we had a big dam near our place full of carp so would go there and waste the days away fishing for them. Then once again, got older and more busy and the fishing stop, few years later moved to Adelaide. Then one night a couple of years ago Del had to head to Ceduna for a family thing, at that stage I wasn't working so said ill come for a drive to keep him company (we got back a week later..) after Ceduna we stopped into his shack at Kellede Bay for a couple of days, went fishing most days and always cleaned up, every night was fresh fish, and chips we would cut up from potatoes and a few beers. After we got back to Adelaide that was the beginning of a expensive hobby, first it started off with cheap Ebay crap, then quickly snowballed into wanting better and more expensive gear, to the point i hate to think how much i have spent now. But do not regret any of it!!Ok that is my ramble over.... hopefully it makes sense, bit under the weather this morning...

Personally i wouldn't use anything under a 2000, my flick stick is a multi task rod so i run 10lb braid on one of my spools and 6lb on the other, swap between spools depending what i am fishing for and the same goes for leaders.

Not sure it was my most memorable but,Sitting on the the banks of the torrens lake chasing carp... get a big hit, start walking towards my new rod to see it get ripped out of the rod holder and being dragged across the grass towards the water....I leg it and jump in as my rod starts to power thru the water, manage to just grab it, start fighting the fish while paddling back, get to the river bank, hand Jimmy the rod, climb out and keep fighting the fish and land it after about 8mins....Damn carp, i showed that thing who is boss.... :lol:Cost = Pack of smokes that where in my pocket, and my sunnys.
