  1. The old boy has bought in a cuda before, but that was some time ago (also off the old Rapid bay jetty when the conveyor belts were still there). But at the beginning of the year, 2 of my mates and I went away on the boat and my mate must have jagged a resting or passing sting ray cos it went on a SCREEEEAMING run for about 80m until it straightened all the barbs on 1 side of the jag. Lets just say his face looked like a smacked a$$ cos he was like WTF hahahha. Was pretty surprised about that one also.

  2. The old boy and I managed a few over the weekend. 3 ruggers and 1 over 60.I have to agree with LAS. I've made 3 trips in the past 3 weeks and managed to bag out with 4 above 60 the first trip, a big fat d0nut the second trip and as mentioned another 4 the third trip. The second trip i anchored where we caught the first lot. Not much was showing on the sounder and the results emulated the sounders reading. The third trip did the same thing, after 30mins of berley and nothing, picked up anchor and sounded around for some activity. After 10mins of berley touching the water, we were on our first Red. They weren't too far away. we had only moved approx 60m in a different direction.Keep at it and they'll come.Savage

  3. This year has been pretty dismal for me personally.Last few years around early Feb, the old boy and I would go out with 2-3 nets and come back with 70-80 in about 3-4 hours from one spot. This year however, in 4-5hours and several moves later, only provided our best of 22.When i first bought my boat 5.5years ago, i dont remember seeing the 'commecial' aka pro fishing boat close to shore. In the past 2-3 years, They have been raping the whole 5-7m line from North Haven to Grange. Thats around 15km.Maybe thats why you havent seen them march down south Kingsley!!These pro's have MASSIVE vessels, go out where the reccies dont have access to. My 2 cents

  4. Looks terrible and uncomfy.A conventional rod you can change your grip when you're tired, either under your arm or putting the butt of the rod on your pelvis (ohhh the explaination in words doesnt sound too good haha ;)).I cant see you fighting a serious fish for longer than 15minutes like this. Your arm will BURRRRN!!!!There is no way you would be able to put this rod in a gimble belt and fight the fish.Stupid idea i think ESPECIALLY for $500. No thanx

  5. Hey Protactic' date=' did you launch from WB?Was that you in the colourful bream boat heading out with your mate in the not so colourful bream boat?[/quote']Hahaha.... Yeah mate.
Hahaha alot of us were saying that you guys were nuts lol.you had no shelter, open boat and with rough seas, we thought you were gonna have a nice salty shower on the way out. hahaBut i have to admit, watching you boys head out, the boats handled the chop pretty well. How was it out there at anchor?
  6. I dont target sharks nor do I have anything against shark fishing. But i'd LOVE to know how much time and money (probably tax payers money) has gone in this whole 'investigation'.This whole shark fishing between certain hours is utter BS.These pathetic 'do gooders' need to go get a hobby and stop ruining other people's hobby and past times. The guy is not a criminal, do some real investating and catch these mongrels that are beeting people in their own homes, steeling cars etc etc.

  7. A mate of mine pointed this article out to me this morning.http://www.seabreeze.com.au/News/Fishing/VIC-Two-huge-illegal-snapper-hauls-uncovered_6015592.aspxMy jaw is still on the table. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!Well done on the fisheries who caught these scum bags..My proposal for the seized boats / cars.Rip the engine/s and sounder/GPS off and sell them off. Then, tow the boat and cars in the area they fished and sink them.Give the snapper (that are remaining) a new home.I am still dumb founded that the VIC size limit for snapper is only 28cm. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUSAnd no wonder they don’t get the regular BIG REDS, COS THEY DONT HAVE A CHANCE TO GROW!!!!!!!GRRRRRRant over...

  8. Ahhh' date=' that's where I went wrong! I forgot to turn at the Sip N Save..............geez I'm a silly XXXXX! :P[/quote']You were correct to go passed the sipnsave :P .Actually if you do a U turn and go back, passed the round about, left at H.Jack's, past the sipnsave and back to collonades, there is a big Dan Murphies in the shopping centre :silly: ;):P
  9. its approx 3.75km SSW of my house when its on spesh :D :D or theres another spot 2km west' date=' one 4.5km SSE' date=' one 10km SSW if im being a tight arse and needa travel a bit further :D :D :D :D :D hahahahha[/quote'']This information is useless to me, as not only do I need the location, I also need to know the correct TIMES to be there (ie: when the "spesh" will be on and firing!) :P
This thread is BRILLIANT. what a good :lol::clap: . Ranger even though i dont know where STB actually lives i may be able to help ya, being we all know he's from down south :P .If your on Dyson rd near collonades, head north. Go up the road about a 3 km's, you'll find a sipnsave on the right hand side. If you missed it, turn right at the Hungry Jack's and about 2km's further there's a sipnsave on the corner. You know your on the right track cos there's a huge round about where.................. ahhhh you get the drift :woohoo: ;):P:P
  10. It seems no one on here has put this up yet!!http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/possession-limits-under-consideration-to-protect-sa-fish-species/story-e6frea6u-1226137894397Can someone tell me how the :c this info has been gathered when there is only a handful fisheries officers in the state??I'd love to know the last time MR O'B has been out :fishing: .............. in our gulfs, cos i've done reasonably well recently!!!

  11. Hence the reason why it should off limits. These species would be demolished with-in the first year. This has been off limits to the general public, I'd rather keep it off limits than to have it opened and then be shut down again. Its currently a sanctuary / breeding area for these fish and has been for years, keep it that way i say.

  12. Fair call there Brenton. Just a throwing it out there though. What would the odds be that any sizeable specimen or even any size squid/cuttlefish, would swim away and survive without damaging the fish.Only raising the question cos if the intension is to release all species, you atleast want all of them to swim away just as healthy as they came up.
