  1. Thanks chaps, they can be fiddly but this is the easiest and cleanest way i know how to do them and thanks to Ranger for tidying up the post for me. cheers brenton
  2. Hi Rocket if you want to tie the braid straight to the swivel then make a double and just tie an ordinary locked blood knot with 5 turns, this doesn't break but its pretty brutal on your gear and you have to use a lightish drag.I have also had a bit of trouble with the Albrights but some mono leader is well worth while.Fireline seems to slip with the Albrights for me anyway but i use them with no problem using other braids. cheers brenton
  3. An often asked question is "how do i butterfly fillet a gar"well this is how i do it.I use a rounded butter knife sharpened to a nice edge.put the knife right through the fish just below its butt and cut down to the tail.now cut towards the head but don't cut through the ribs, then slice down behind the head too the backbone.now with an angled knife cut through the pin bones but over the top of the ribs but don't cut all the way through the fish and leave the gut intact. It will look like this when done but fold it back into place and turn the fish over.this time start with the downward cut behi
  4. Ha ha,well she wasn't exactly 100% fit,at first i thought it was a log in the water and when i went over to investigate it went under so i thought "that was interesting"then i saw it come to the surface about 40 metres away so i jumped in and grabbed it by the bottom jaw and after a bit of a wrestle, swam it over to the boat.We couldn't lift it in so we towed it back to the shore and swam it for about 20 mins in the shallows but it was cactus and thought i should get some pics. cheers brenton
  5. heres one i wrestled into the boat a couple of years ago that i found wallowing around on the surface, wish i could take credit for the capture on a lure but it was interesting none the less. cheers brenton

  10. I didn,t really like using Tassie devils because i found the action to be all over the place but i found out since that the plastic can be bent/straightened to change the action of the lure so perhaps i should of read the packet in the first place.Interesting post anyway Chuck. cheers brenton
  11. If your asking about Bungums then i,d say yes because they are just nth of there as well. cheers brenton
  12. Yeah this year there are more than i've ever seen down there, baitfishing must be a nightmare when they are on the chew.As has been said they must bring something in to eat them. cheers brenton

  16. Thanks Chaps Not very good news though, trust me to take up breaming during the worst winter in memory and a pretty slow summer as well.I,m starting to think i might of pulled my holiday dungas out my arse, although they didn't come without a fair bit of work either cheers brenton
  17. It was pretty tough for me this morning Micky,I fished H/B and S/P for 3 hrs and only caught 3 small bream as well as dropping a couple and they didn't feel big either. Was there any biggies that you saw hanging just out from the drop off on our little beach?? cheers brenton
  18. When i fished the port for mully we caught quite a few schoolies just as the dolphins came past infact i was always pretty hopeful when i saw them swimming through.I wouldn't be surprised if the dolpins follow the mully hoping they scare a few fish out of there hidey holes in the same way shags will hang around snook etc cheers brenton

  24. I just had a good look at one of the XR's that leaked water into the body,it was full of Brown water as it didn't want to leak out and started to rust the bearings.I've drilled a small hole in it to let out the juice and filled it with Inox. The plan is to let it dry out then fill the hole and i reckon i'll put a bit of extra gummy bear near the rear treble as under the magnifying glass(don't laugh it will happen to you)that area looks dodgey.Seems like a lot of trouble i know, especially as i only paid 8 bucks for them but i'm on hollies for a bit and it will give me something to do while the
