man that sucks badly it nearly happened to me a few years ago at port hughes as i pulled up 2 the car park saw these sus guys sitting in there car went down to the jetty just before it got dark. have a look at the new phantom j from daiwa 4500j 400mtrs of 30lb braid,or the daiwa exceler6500 400mtrs of 60lb braid or the 4500 model 400 mtrs of 30lb braid or sealine bull 4500 . all coupled to a silstar blue 10 2 15kilo 7ft rod they are all worth a look cheers

did get bored of the one 2 one ratio but they are great reels its like anything u progress to other gear eg. when i started sharking years ago i had 650a1 knuckle buster and then 651c5 star drag caught heaps of stuff on them then progressed to overheads and large surf egg beaters(spinners)4 surf fishing. I have still got 650 c5 rosewood, 651e5 , and 550c5 and even thought about dusting of the 550 for a fish cheers

they have stopped making them now the 4 means 4wraps and the 120 means how long in inches if u find one go for it i would say they would cost around $160 mark . biggest bronzie i caught was 4ft 11 inches on 25lb line and the reel was daiwa 6000 emcast easy as. my mate has caught eaglies up to 80lb using 30lb line and penn 950 we have now move up to 5120 s 4 the heavy type of fishing we do now cheers

yep got one top rod caught heaps of salmon at scotts snd even small eagle rays and bronzies cheers

imo if u go 4 the 4120 go 4 the 4120g(graphite) i have still got mine 2 off(snyder) 4120 and a5120(wilson)This season i have gone to a daiwa sensor i will see how i go;)

daiwa sealine bull 4500 5.7 2 one ,15kg drag i think they sell for about $150 silstar 10 2 15kilo blue/ clear tip 7 ft(sorry cant recall the model number)saw one the other day at r an a had a large stripper guide and alps h/d winch just right for spinning about $130 or if thats to big have a look at daiwa exceler oceana 4500j 4.9 15kg drag holds 400mtrs of 30lb braid $200 plus .I think matched to any good quality 10 2 15 kg 7 ft rod should do . I do prefer little bit longer rod of rocks but u should be able to get away with 7ft ( i found it very hard to find 8ft extra heavy duty rod 15

Yeah loved going up there in the late 90s and early 2000 s on the way up to the old rapid bay jetty ( Now that was a great jetty) i think it was still sports fishing scene back then. But still went there a few times a year when i used to take the family up to victor (allways a good excuse to stretch the legs ha ) will be missed .PS heard he had it on the market for ages but no takers sad . cheers

cow pat hit the fan with this thread IMHO i do not keep barbs anymore last count got about 85 of them 86th got stuck in the back of my hand and hurt like hell the eaglys revenge . Got the hint but same with smoothy barbs got a few of them. Now if i hook a smoothy i cut my line and run the other way donot want to get stabbed by a sword. When i was young ( a very long time ago) used to cut doggy spines to make neckless . Anyway going off to watch a few guys kick, punch ,grapple, elbow the crap out of each other in UFC countdown on the box before they make this illegal . cheers
