  1. Sorry Harrison22 but I don't know anything about fly fishing except only what I've seen on TV fishing shows. Hope there is a few here that might be able to give help/advice for you. I would think burley would help in the at least the sea to pull some fish towards you and would like your chance might improve. But I look forward to hearing of your future sessions though. Good luck
  2. Has anyone used Catchall Crawlers? Just thinking if they are as good as they state then they are good as beach worms etc. The beach/sand worms are expensive for a 'couple' of them, but the Crawlers are still expensive ... but how many do you get in a tub? If you get a dozen for $10 compared to say $10 for a couple of beach worms, maybe they are the way to go. I don't know ... just putting it out there. http://www.sheldonsbait.com.au/catchall-crawlers/
  3. It is nice to sit in your backyard watching those colours form.
  4. Sorry, never heard of them .... hopefully someone will know.

Must be more to this Lofty64 .... but huh .... you lost me
  6. The beers went down nicely PP with the cremated tommies lol although a bit jerky style. May give the dry brine a go also - just gotta catch more Tommies haha. The smoker has 3 metho burners but I only use 1 due to the excessive heat. I watched a video where they took an hour in a proper smoker, so thought about 1/2 hour for mine. But you're right, about 15 minutes would have enough.
  7. Must admit, they are tasting better cold!
  8. no idea mate, I'm no chef like Hunter
  9. Yeah I know, but I only had 1 and could be bothered frying it up so thought I'll stick it in with the Tommies - it did taste ok too
  10. oh ok, do you still put in the fridge for say 24 hours?
  11. I certainly don't have this done pat by any means, hell, only my 3rd go - over past 18 months So I filleted the Tommies and butterflied the Gar and put them in a brine of 1lt water, 1/4 cup salt and 1/4 cup of brown sugar and in the fridge for 24 hours+. Got my 'deluxe' Mojiko smoker ready but only had Samba Poultry/Pork chips, so they had to do. Smoke vent was only just open a tad and smoking well. Thought maybe 45 minutes but this 30 minutes in, so them off. Look over done to me compared to other that have a darkish tan, but they tasted ok - a little dry maybe.
  12. Here is a video of a local guy (he supplies the Sheldon Gents to tackle shops) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqKG6XlMWYY
  13. 2 days tops and return the real small ones and any females with eggs (males have a bigger claw). Try and refresh with salt water every couple of hours and if overnight, yes an aerator helps as is provides oxygen into the water. Keep in a cool place with wet/damp towel around and over container. But in saying that, leaving them in water for a long period is not the best either and some say having them fine sawdust is better - so trial and error.
  14. Like David says, low tides are best for finding them and just look for all the holes in sand - a youtube video should help understand the 'hows'. I've got mine down Moana way only as I live this way and not tried anywhere else. https://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/products/wilson-30-inch-bait-nipper-yabby-pump.html I'd suggest to buy the longer ones as it makes it easier to down into the sand and of course more depth.
  15. I've found them pretty good, but a better quality one is better than the cheap BigW/K-mart ones etc. I also washed them down when getting home due to some sand being left inside the tube. What does annoy me though, was after only using it for about 4 sessions and then stored for about 8 months, I found the rubber part around the washer had crumbled. I was annoyed with this, so contacted Wilsons and they sent me 2 replacements (nice of them seeing I purchased from BCF?). But they said the washers do not last long anyway, but buying replacements are not expensive.
  16. You really are becoming quite the professional at this video footage and slideshow stuff Very entertaining Adrian and a good session for you in the end.
  17. Like Underpants says, tiger worms are quite simple to set up and continue to to good numbers/product. But tiger worms will die very quickly if using in salt water. I was desperate once and purchased tiger worms from a store to use in salt water - never again ... expensive and were dead quickly. I wont buy tube/beach worms at all, just far too expensive for a couple of them. Best to practice, practice and practice sourcing your own from the beaches. Even seaweed worms are easy to get, just find very old seaweed sitting high on the sands and start scrounging through the weed to fin

    P.b Trout

Great session Hunter to start off the new year. Top trout and looks in good condition.
  21. The were some caught the other week at Beachport and Port MacDonnell beaches. Same places for the boaties and also Kingston area. Not sure about the Vics side. Good Luck.
  22. Not used them, but they look a little rich to buy. I just use a few 1.25lt soft drink bottles or plastic milk containers - does the job well enough for me.
