  3. w2Bf has done an excellent job of describing the fishing action on the trip. I will just add a bit of information to put it into geographical perspective.Check out this map:http://kangarooislandvisitorguide.realviewdigital.com/#folio=M1• We launched from Western River Cove (Map Reference A3)• First night’s anchorage was at Weirs Cove (D2)• Second night’s anchorage was at Vivonne Bay (D5)• Third night’s anchorage was at Antechamber Bay (D10)• Fourth night’s anchorage was at Emu Bay (A7)All up, we covered about 500-600km, when you consider we circumnavigated the island and had
  4. Definitely did, breambo25 - save up your $$$ and put your name down for a trip as soon as you can afford it.If you want to know more about the operator, check out:http://kifishing.com.au/This was one trip I wanted to do to tick off on my "Bucket List", but there were a few guys on board that have done all three trips so far, and look like continuing to do it into the future...It can be that addictive... Cheersaf
  5. For some reason, I'm having a problem trying to upload pic's... here's take 2...
  6. Photo of Mako as mentioned by w2Bf...The little darling had been humanely subdued with some swift blows with a plastic mallet, however it awoke while it was being held for photographs by the guy who caught it and almost gave him a love bite to remember for a long timeGotta love those mad Makos... 7. Weirs Cove was the first overnight anchorage, w2bf...and I agree with your assessment of Gavin Solly and KIFA - top stuff, indeed.I'll put up a post in the next day or so as well, but as a teaser, I'll throw up a pic of what is undoubtedly the "most interesting catch of the trip", which should definitely be awarded to w2bf (I'll let him explain the details later!).Cheersaf
  8. Bloody hell!!!What size jag were they using? :woohoo:
  9. And, of course, if you don't want to worry about split rings, you can also throw doubles into the equation if you want to start a debate...
  10. U4LI agree with talbo - don't bother with the circle hooks, as they're not designed for that particular purpose. Here's a couple of options you might like to try, depending on your lure:As you can see, one style of hook has its eye at a 90 degree angle compared to the other. Feel free to experiment with hook size to make sure you don't upset the action of the lure.Hope this helps...Cheersaf

  12. w2bfYou will be pleased to know that a certain Shane Mensforth is one of the contributors to the current (inaugural) issue (he has an excellent article on mullies), so I expect that the SA scene should probably get good coverage in future issues.TT97I agree that the magazine has a "fresh" and "vibrant" feel to it (and, no - I don't have any connection, commercial or otherwise, to this particular publication).Louis VSThanks for showing a bit of initiative and being proactive about finding out what your current (and future) readers are looking for in a fishing magazine. This in no way diminishes
  13. First choice - Maria:Also want to try the Waxwing (I've bought one in Blue Sardine, but I reckon the Black Chrome might be a winner, as well:Cheersaf
  14. TbFingers are crossed, but there are a few species of Tilapia already running rampant in various areas of this wide brown land...See:http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/tilapia.htmhttp://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/pests-diseases/freshwater-pests/species/tilapiajust for starters.Cheersaf

  19. Mind you, it's still a long way off the "official" Australian record of 18.4kg (supposedly caught at Port Adelaide, according to some reports)...and then there's this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWHZUsX9MbkCheersaf
