  1. Port Hughes is my fave jetty in SA especially for squidYou can catch them all up the jetty on either side but just before the end of the left hand rail in the shallows has produced many a squid for me.For fish just berley up using a berley bucket 3/4 way down and see what shows up. I had a school of 30-40cm salmon show up and was catching the on plastics.Watch out for those shitties that are everywhere along the jetty this time of year. Thats why i only targetmid water to top water fish like gar and tommies. And have a plastic on hand to throw at snook. Youll know if their there if you see gar

  12. I can't see any problem with it eitherBut i don't understand WHY someone would go out there way to drive to west lakes and release a doggy when they could just chuck it back in and keep fishing I mean seriously what does that achieve

  18. Not sure about cuttlefish as never caught one but i seen recently watching Adventure Bound on dvd when he caught a big squid he would hold it up to the sun light and in the middle of the back of the squid ( the lighter part ) if there was a big white area in the middle it usualy ment it was carrying eggs.
  19. I headed to st kilda under estimating the size of the tides and almost had to swim back and only caught one and i think the only salmon trout caught that day there.

  21. Was at wallaroo jetty yesterday and at about 1pm wasn't raining or windy or nothin. But you could see the storm and lightning coming in from over the sea. Amazing site but we had to leave cause you could it was gonna hit the jetty in like half an hour. Was litterely out driving the storm until we hit second storm which flooded the road upto the car doors  . (BTW caught half a dozon crabs a squid and had a run from a pretty big snapper )
  22. Yeh i still got a little jar of them somewhere i used them last january off port hughes jetty and got loads of tommies and even a few gar on them but they were realy thick so i suppose you would have got them on anything that was white a 1/2 an inch long they looked realy handy when i bought them and something that you could use in a spur the moment thing You would just use them as normal gent and they stay on the hooks heaps better and even when you've unhooked a fish there still on the hook ready to catch another. But i would still use live ones for gars but if there heaps of gars and tomm
  23. Just wonderin if its better to go for them at low or high tide
  24. Had a holiday few years back for my birthday in feb and stayed at a waterfront villa. Bloody beautiful. Went out every mornin and was catchin 30-40cm bream on a few pieces of bread For landbased i'd recoomend tryin out a few lagoons for your bream yellowfin trevaly. Treat the river nearby as you would treat westlakes i suppose.Anyway goodluck:P
