  1. This was the right up i did for the fb page . Ohhh mother nature you are a kidder sometimes , just when i was thinking i would have to concrete the gazebo down for registrations you turn it on and produce an unimaginable night with perfect conditions . I haven't seen such a still night in a long time . With the storm warning and rain the day before i was wondering if anyone was going to turn up but those that did had an absolute cracker of a night , catching plenty of Mulloway between all those that entered . From the non photo worthy catches up to the winning catch there was plenty of act
  2. I actually have a few phone numbers up my sleeve to get access to a few properties and one of these have told me in person that the area was recently ish stocked by SAFFA . So there are areas out there still being stocked but to find out exactly where you would have to join and i have heard that even then it would take you a few years in the club to find out . Not sure if it is true but apparently there are also groups within SAFFA that stock seperatly , but if you know a few people within the club then you have probably got more insight than most and i would like to be clarified ? Good luck w
  3. Got this decent Mully using 5"SP's and 6lb line . This one was 87cm but i do have a 94 some where ..... Oh well this one will do .
  4. Any legal means are all options as lomg as you can catch a Mully . Not a real big advantage being on the water or landbased as everyone has their own way of success catching a Mulloway . Also if their is no Mulloway caught then the biggest Bream is what the placing comes down to but as it is a Mulloway event then a 35cm Mully will beat a 45cm Bream . Hope to see you all down there .
  5. The next round is nearly here . A month to go so clear your dairy and dust off you tackle .
  6. Just want to give a heads up , Mulloway taggers SA is having a get together down at perrys bend on the 14 Nov sat , 3pm - 9pm . There will be entry fee , with prizes for biggest Mulloway for snr , jnr and mystery size fish . BBQ bits and drinks , raffle prizes and a casting comp for early birds . Brag mat and camera are needed for fish submissions for the prize draw . Catch and release . If no mullys are caught then biggest Bream will be next in line . More details at Mully Mayhem Fishing Series facebook page or Mulloway Taggers SA facebook page . Some great prizes already for the draw . Pleas
  7. Cheers again fellas . I couldn't find the REALLY LIKE button on your comment Cal . Comment appreciated . The rolling swell that was going underneath us is not visible but was about 4-6m buuuuttt the chop was nothing and was quite comfortable out there . That is correct Rod , i fish\am right handed with my rod in the right hand .
  8. The fly fishers don't actually own any part of the river they just lease it and i am pretty sure that the leases have not been extended and fly fishers don't have any rights any more . Could be wrong but i dont think so . Best place is to have a suss is at safwaa . My dad has had a stroke and cant use his left leg properly either but some of the dams are right next to where you park and are easily accessible . And you know there are fish there as they are stoked by safwaa . There are a few public places around but really not worth the effort as these do get fished a fair bit and the fish are
  9. Cheers fellas . This one was tagged and released and really if i was to keep one for the table i have heard you want ones up to 10 kg , but this is only what i have heard . I never thought it was a ray as i have caught plenty of them and the fight was a lot different . Eagle rays run and smooth rays just bury themselves . Completely different to a fish fighting on the end of your line .
  10. Headed over to Marion bay for a charter over the weekend . Stayed at the house that was in the package then left before dark to Pondalowie bay for the charter . My Dad came along witch was the highlight for me . Was a very slow day and basically the only thing i caught was this .
  11. Would like to say a massive thank you to Strike and Hook supporting the first one down the Onk and now i would like to present the second one down at West lakes . Any one can join in as it is a friendly get together supporting a fundraiser for Mulloway Taggers SA . A $10 donation entry fee will get you in the action with about half of this going into a prize pool for 1st 2nd and 3rd . If there is no Mulloway caught then it will go down to the biggest Bream . You can register before 2pm but id tags will be handed out at 2 . Also doesn't matter what time you get down there after the fishing get
  12. Nice one fella . Only got 2 now but am keen to get some more . Hit us up when ya have time fella .
  13. Awesome stuff fella . Still just learning the fly myself but have got a couple off fish now . Couple off the rainbows are very peachy down the sides , look awesome . An absolute cracker , horse of a carp . Well done fella .
  14. I was out fri night and i wish i could of stayed but had to go back to work sat morning . Was sensational out on the water .
  15. Only my Canoe . But most boats have names .
  16. Yeah even if you are targeting Mully's and catch a Bream "acidentally" you are still stressing the Bream . Not very good at all .
  17. Long time no post . On the long weekend just gone i was keen to get out for a fish but not sure if i was going to have the time or not and if i did were i was going to be able to go . A few phone calls , a few odd jobs knocked on the head that had to be done and a few things falling through i was talking to a mate Shane and he was able to catch up on monday and we decided where . Sunday afternoon i thought about a Fly rod i had and decided to finally give it a go knowing that where we was going , had a few Carp that were easily seen in the shallow tight waters . So the wife and i headed dow
  18. Nice one fella . Dont hear from Banger much any more ?
  19. G'day peeps . Well the set up costs were about $100 each IBC , I think it was $180 or $200 for the solar panel , gravel was $25 , goldfish came to $150 , water pump around $180 , solinoids were $20 ish each and car battery i got given . So for about a $1000 once you add every thing together and all the little bits like plumbing and stuff . This set up did really well and ran non stop for over 10 months before it packed it in . I did have to give the pump a clean every now and then but the plants went bannanas . In the process of moving the yard around and builing a bigger set up using the othe
  20. I only catch and release but unfortunately when the very few times that a fish doesn't revive and swim off i will either keep it for the table or i will offer to other fishermen but this is a very rare occurrence and is the only time i will offer .
  21. Use the cube or whole pillies on 3/0 or 4/0 hooks , the only thing big enough to take the hook will be a big Bream or Mully and knowing your luck if ya trying for Bream it will be a Mully .
  22. You will get one when your not trying to i bet . I am always getting 40+cm Bream as bye catch , when your not trying to get the Bream they can actually get annoying , believe it or not . Keep cracking on tho young fella and you will get there . Also know of a spot where you can try , a mate landed 4 Bream and none where under 45cm and the best went 53cm .
