  1. oh also, is it possible to cast small plastics and other lures for salmon/redfin etc
  2. Hi all,Was interested in giving baitcasters a shot just for the heck of it. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with pflueger criterion. Its around $25 on amazon and was wondering if its worth a shot? http://www.amazon.com/Pflueger-Criterion-Reel-100-Yards-12-Pound/dp/B0036XG7UA/ref=sr_1_762?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1373374859&sr=1-762Im only after something cheap to get a hang of things and to see if its my type of thing or not.Cheers.
  3. I've got 10lb fireline crystal for the sambos. Its abit over kill for the ones ive caught so far which are 25-35cm. But for bigger ones you can still put alot of hurt on them with 10lb. Fireline is cheap and casts well. Only thing is that it knotted up a couple of times but quite easy to undo because the line is stiffish.
  4. Which psycho picked up the browny? Far out.
  5. I wouldnt think it would matter too much with rods. I use rays and JW rods and they havent let me down so far. As long as you have a half decent reel should be okay.stay away from ebay reels lol
  6. I Fish at waits with 7foot rod all the time. All the times i've been they are not more than 10-20 meters out. Never had a problem bagging out. But then again, each to his own. I like the fight of the fish
  7. I use 7 foot 2-4kg graphite paired with a 2000 size okuma flame with 200m of 6lb braid, 10lb leader. gettting them on light tackle in the surf is great great fun. Take waders if you have, or go in with shorts lol.
  8. bottle cap lures. look it up
  9. The Shakespeare reel seems a little too big for what im after lol. Might get the sienna as u guys suggested
  10. too big for catching 30lb carp
  11. Hi guys I need some opinions!Im trying to decide between a 500 size Shimano Sienna or Sedona. Its for a black/red nanostrike rod shown in the picture.Im not only interested in reel quality but how it will look matched up with the rod. Try to convince me, K GO!
  12. Right now i got PEX 6lb on my okuma flame. Seems to be quiet decent and 30 bux for 500m isnt bad either Im also running a brand called "hicatch" on one of my bigger reels at 60lb. Muscled in a 100lb+ ray not too long ago so its also good. But as alot of people would tell you better brands = better quality. But if ur a cheapo like me then ur good
  13. $1.02 to no one catching crap all.
  14. There was a Sienna 2500 / graphite combo going for 79 bux at BCF. But the aernos is a better reel
  15. Might pop by south oz rods tomorrow then. Looks like its just around the block from me too
  16. Hi guys, Wondering where I could get a guide repaired on my rod for cheap. + roughly how much is it?cheers,SP
  17. Okuma avenger with 60lb braid on a cheapy 7" 7-10kg Olympus rod. Running rig or paternoster depending on where im fishing. Also JW marado with 20lb mono! Hooked a ray on it and didnt skip a beat that champ. Not that i've caught a snapper or anything ..... yet!
  18. OKUMA FLAME! I paid 79 bux at spot On after my Abu OrraS turned out to be a lemon.I have size 2000 (smallest they make) on a 1-3kg graphite (black and red). Makes a sexy combo with red line
  19. Disregard the thread, I swapped it over for an Okuma Flame f20
  20. Faulty bearings maybe? Think its worth swapping over for okuma flame?
  21. Hi guys, Yesterday I bought an Abu Orra S. Spooled it up and caught one small ST with a soft plastic. After i get home the reel makes a slight sound when u turn the reel like you can hear the gears spinning. Is this normal? As i have never paid much attention to the sound that any of my other reels make. Would i have to return it or get it swapped? I really liked the look of this reel
  22. 39 bux for a Marado. How can you go wrong
  23. Life time warranty with Okuma lol. So the Abu reels are crap? Was just wondering if someone has actually used it and how long did it last till it blew up haha
  24. Hi y'all. Was browsing the fishing section of bigw today and i came accross 2 reels that caught my eye. The Abu GT325 overhead and the Cardinal bt4050. Just wanted to know what people think of these reels, particularly the cardinal bt4050 as its a pretty cheap bait runner for just over 40 bux. Had a look for some reviews on the net but didnt come accross much. Has anyone actually bought one of these and put it to much use? I'd like to hear your opinions thanks!SP
