  4. It wouldn't be the first, and it won't be the last time for this to have happened.Good luck with the clean-up.
  5. garfish  .........now thats a good idea freak some of the "locals" out......6m pole,1kg fluorocarbon and a size 22 hook with a single maggot off the jetty that's almost    gonna try it
  6. slow lift is a good tip otherwise the mullet would be the first one in space  cheers
  7. Thanks archerfish.......interesting site.yep,we used to call that the "Ned Kelly rig"..........good and easy to fish with. Also remember seeing an old chap half way along Outer Harbour Breakwater many years ago fishing for bream with small worm baits under a quill........worked a treat..........must've got a dozen, all over about 35cm.........long before soft plastics were "invented"
  8. Hi all,I was in Ray's Outdoors today, and saw a 6m telescopic pole for around $35  Thought that might be a bit of fun for mullet at Easter on Yorkes beaches,so I bought one couldn't help myself.Nothing better than a millpond smooth beach at daybreak on an Autumn morning at daybreak in my opinion......generally get a lot of mullet.......top berley block material for snapper, and pretty good fresh from the water for brekkie after that session too Seeing as they are generally only 5 to 10m from shore in the shallows where I target them, hardly worth a cast.........by the time you close
  9. they make mum's roses bloom well next season
  10. what about a Penn Slammer 260?..........reckon I've seen them around for $99...........I've got a couple,and a LiveLiner,good value for $$$ in my opinion
  11. St.Kilda saving for a combine harvester I heard............ :pinch:
  12. ........also (the way I tell ) a tommie has black tips on his tail fins, salmon don't
  13. Same fish, but juveniles called salmon trout...........due to their spots..........once the fish matures, their spotted backs turn into a more solid colouration............usually black or a greeny blue, these are the mature salmon.........unsure of their age at this point in time, but usually between 1 and 2kg in weight. That's what I've always known it to be anyway
  14. With Easter almost upon us,what do you guy's have planned?I like to hit the beaches on the Eastern side of Yorkes for the mullet run.......nice eating fish straight from the water, and a great "staple" for the "mass production" of berley blocks for snapper later on in the year ......we almost have an "assembly line" (destruction line?) thing happening...........4 or 5 of us go early for the morning tide and "bag out",then we go back to the shack for brekkie, while the others have slept in.......possibly due to the previous night .......then they start and we eat ..........then later we all
  15. correct......lots of spots, just need to do the time..........you need to wheel your own barrow in this life
  16. that's a good tip re the plain flour.....going to try that......cheers
  17. Forgot to mention that I freeze mine in 1 litre milk cartons...........these fit nicely into our berley tubes made from 100mm PVC tubing............capped at one end, screw cap on the other and a series of 1/4" holes.
