  1. Speak for yourself Colin cheers Rod
  2. God created fish, God created man, man created fishing rods, the rest is history Cheers Rod
  3. They already wiped out the fairy penguins at Victor, people have been working for decades to protect them (the penguins), I don't think they even ate them, they just kill for something do when they are not eating. This what i heard, just google it and can't find a lot about it though? Cheers Rod
  4. G'day Col Don't know about outer harbour but a local fisho at cape jervis told me the population of seals at Rapid Head has gone from a few to "too many to count" over recent years. I think they have gone south to bread at the moment? Anecdotal evidence suggests to me that the seals really cleaned out Victor Harbour before they moved on, apart from the tuna sounds like fish stocks will take a while to recover, hopefully Cheers Rod
  5. Ta da I ate too many but it was just perfect. Close to Bob's recipe for the beef but she added some premium mince with it and a couple other things Also bought some pork and apple sausages and made some with that, only used the sweet chilli in these Cheers Rod
  6. OK OK Bob, I've been drooling over your sausage roll exploits for a very long time. Well now I have done my best puppy dog eyes and the mrs has agreed to make some for me. What a pity a can't find a bakery that makes them like this, instead they add all the bread and what ever else to end up with horrible mush. Years since I've had a home made sausage roll, can't wait, thanks Bob Cheers Rod
  7. I'm one of the lucky ones, my mrs fishes as well and doesn't mind joining me on a tackle spree Cheers Rod
  8. Only 1 of each? No spares? Your a bit behind the 8 ball Colin Cheers Rod
  9. No worries knackers, I don't use willy weather either. The program I use (wtides) I have found accurate enough to me and tide data is very important to my fishing. Sorry if I'm repeating myself Cheers Rod
  10. I find it much easier when the info is displayed graphically. I can look through a months worth of tides and get a good idea of whats happening in about a minute. BOM only provides (as far as I know) pages of numbers and would be almost impossible. . Here's just 2 days of each as an example. Each to their own though Cheers Rod
  11. G'day Maui Jim's were recommended to us by national pharmacies optical. Mrs got them first as she goes there for glasses, when I needed a new pair of sunnies 3 years ago she convinced me to have a look. Got about $50 off as I'm a member ended up around $210 which I thought was a great price for such quality. Best (and most expensive) sunnies I've bought. Only thing I don't like about glass lenses is the fogging up on cold damp mornings. Must find a solution for that one day Cheers Rod
  12. I hope this hasn't been posted before cheers Rod https://www.facebook.com/WhatTradiesWant/videos/779524912110545/?fref=nf
  13. Yeah it's all just predictions, most people concentrate on the hour either side so a few minutes is neither here nor there It would be good if they could get the wind forecasts spot on though Cheers Rod
  14. G'day I pass the line through the swivel twice then tie a uni knot and never had one fail Cheers Rod
  15. I've got a couple of overhead combos including a tld25 from ray and annes. I find them annoying though, the handles are on the wrong side Cheers Rod Hey Rod, Which one of those 2 combos should I get? Dunno, they look pretty similar going by the write up? Cheers Rod

  17. After reading your posts I see why you have called yourself seagypsy Great stuff Cheers Rod
  18. G'day Puds Yeah you probably need something longer off the beach than will be practical in the boat. I don't fish the beaches anymore when trolling for tuna off victor etc I don't think you need anything flash, mind you we've only caught up to 20kg. Anyway, when trolling for tuna I use a variety of rods including the 7ft Penn 10-15 kg with 850 ssm from Ray and Annes for $109. If you want to go to port mac etc for barrels well that's gunna require something a lot better. If you want to go trawling for tuna you're going to need one of these Cheers Rod
  19. A couple of stonkers there Hamo Cheers Rod
  20. G'day I enjoy hearing about people involved in illegal fishing activities who get caught and pay a hefty penalty for it. Go for it I say, take their boat and their car if it is being used to fish illegally for profit. However, as a recreational fisher I don't like the fact that these low lifes who rape and pillage our seas, get called 'recreational fishers' To my mind, once they cross the line from accidentally having an extra fish, to seriously abusing the limits, they become criminals and should be named as such, not called recreational fishers. eg If someone is jogging along taking han
  21. G'day You can download a free program called gps babel that will convert gps files if necessary. There's a standard format that can be transferred across all the brands called GPX. If you get the files in this format you should be able to upload them direct to the lowrance If not convert them to a lowrance format USR from memory which I think is now up to version USR3 but any that your unit has the software version for should be ok Cheers Rod
  22. Bjorn, I've found the perfect solution for you Cheers Rod https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRLBHXp5OBk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRLBHXp5OBk
  23. G'day I can't post a pic right now but will try to get one over the next week I've got an old laminex kitchen table in the shed where I pre tie rigs. I used to keep all the terminal tackle in plastic boxes, some spare stuff still is but I recently stumbled on a great find. Outside my local supermarket I noticed a cadbury display rack which looked like it was left for disposal. I asked if I could have it and the manager said YES! It's very strong and in excellent condition, it's on wheels and has about 8 adjustable shelves (4 each side) roughly 500 x 200mm with little rails around each
  24. G'day One thing I heard a couple of years ago is that the Japanese got caught in an Al Capone style forensic accounting sting taking 500% of their tuna quota. Approximately 7 years ago international inspectors were placed on each ship in the fleet. Since then the biomass passing through SA, as measured by the Port Lincoln tuna farmers has increased dramatically every year Cheers Rod
  25. I have made designed and made a wall mounted rack and a floor rack on wheels. I had everything I needed lying around The floor rack was the simplest. cheers Rod
