  2. that was a very interesting read 4thalove thanksbut i believe its worth every cent spending good money on a decent jag.. i have a jag that i brought mid jan this year and i have estimated at least 50-70 squid caught on this same jag. squid are about $20 a kilo in the market (last time i looked) say 3 squid (estimate) = a kilo 60 squid = 20 kilo 20 x 20 = $400 from a $20 jag isnt too bad!!! plus i havent counted all the snapper/whiting i have caught from the squid heads etc and all the mouths it has fed.. l love squidding

  4. I had a pretty good summer with lots of great memories. Being a casual employee and having the majority of summer off with uni holidays resulted in fishing trips just about every week. Had the good days out and the average but always managed a feed, plus its mainly about having fun with mates anyways. But i was lucky enough to get a few good metro reds and break a pb of landing a 6.5/7 kg or 76cm red on 4lb line and 14lb leader. The fish took 40 minutes to land and i was freaking out that i may loose her every one of those single minutes haha.I already cant wait for next summer!
  5. The old man is a member of the Sea Rescue Squadron and even if we/i needed to be towed in i would always give a donation. but thats just me. i even towed a boat in on monday afternoon and thanks was all i needed (plus i reminded them they need a working radio)
  6. I own two siennas, a 1000 and a 2500. Good bang for ya buck!! Btw... BCF or Anaconda?
  7. Sorry to hear if there is a shark ban but fingers crossed it's all media BS :)Just my two cents (and not having a go) I was told by a pro cray fisherman on the weekend that we have the best cray industry in aus. Because of all the quoter changes over the years. And he told me that you can catch crays just about anywhere these days. But why slaughter the industry today where tomorrow there will be none.. Same with the snapper I would put my 110% support behind a snapper ban for October/ November and a TAC so that in 50 years time I am still able to catch them. I think we need to sit back and r
  8. I've had the exact same experience as you nikhum. It's the worse line I have ever used. I lost a 9-10 kg red without even putting any pressure on it. I ended up having to use 12lb platypus because it was acutally doing it's correct job
  9. statequider there is a new range of shimano rods called revolution, they are the model below the blue water. 1 have been told they use the exact same blanks but use zinc guides instead of the fuji guides. i know the exact same rod you are after (because i also like it ) and there is the exact same model in the revolution for $100 less.. ($219 i have seen it for) just another idea mate.also with the reel, id say a 8000. which reel are you looking at getting? the best thing is to grab the rod and stick it together with a 6000 reel and see how she feels and then do the same with the 8000 reel.
  10. handfull of crushed pillies in a berley pot with a old sponge soaked in tuna. so the gar and tommies show up but dont fill themselves up on your berley... well thats the idea anyway .
  11. pb shark so 8ft +pb snapper 105cm +bag out on big reds in one day
  12. The Penn hands down and should easily be under 250.
  13. hey matei own two stradics the 2500(older version pearl/white body colour) and a 4000. For the price i believe they are awesome reels. The 2500 is my jack of all trades and ive Caught anything from gar to 5kg snapper on it. The 4000 is my snapper squidgy rod which i haven’t used yet but im hanging out like you wouldn’t believe. Throw some 6 or 8 pound braid on her mate and trust me it will quickly become your favourite reel or at least one of.
