  1. I think the theory behind 2500 reals being better than 1000 is that they A) have greater line capacity incase you hook a monster the greater the spool width the less loops of line have to come off to get the same length of line off. That means less friction and fractionally longer casting distance. I still use the little 1000 reels where I can, they are so much fun to use and are nice light. Don't know about the rods mate sorry.
  2. At Cape Jervis the other day. More seals around then I remember since last time.
  3. Come on people we can't let some filthy noxious things win the photo comp.
  4. SA Water? Pretty sure its a French company. Pretty sure if they read this they'd be more like "They have CARP, CARP I TELL YOU! THE HOLY GRAIL OF FISH AND THEY WANT TO CATCH SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!" "That is it! Lock up there waters 'till not a soul can look at a creek without trespassing, 'till the people can no longer access public land and until we own the rain itself from the moment it has fallen! mwahahaha"
  5. I've heard of a few callop from Clarendon. Again, Mt.Bold probably holds some serious beasties
  6. Alrighty then. Tried a new spot this arvo for couple of little fish, though this one didn't look bad.
  7. Is there a certain amount of entries per person or unlimited photo bombing?
  8. I tend to take minimal bait if I'm going by myself. If figure if the bite is hot enough that we are losing bait thick and fast, I'll be able to use what we catch as bait. Exceptions being whiting and snapper sessions.
  9. Love it. Bloke tells group of fisherman he has an addiction and a problem...... And we all actively encourage it haha If it was anything but fishing it would be bad
  10. You can never have enough 2-4kg rods. They just start piling up everywhere eventually, then you go try and snap them on big carp and hardly ever do
  11. Click on their profile and select "Send Message"
  12. I've got a light spin rod from Rapala with a similar, albeit better looking, Ferrell system. I am pretty sure I read that it is designed like this so that after the graphite wears due to intensive casting you can give it a lick of graphite paint or similar to bulk it back up.
  13. That pop... Normally I can handle pain and a bit of gore but that just, eh.
  14. Don't do it, it tastes like sh*t. If if you want greater culinary analysis just ask.
  15. Yeah I sometimes use a Yucatan as well. I find the ablrbight, Yucatán and Ducknose are relatively similar and I haven't compared the knots to one another thoroughly enough yet to determine which is smaller and stronger. Although the ducknose is very thin so travels through guides well.
  16. Heavy stuff I've been using Bimini>Ducknose>Leader>Solid ring>Hook trace Light stuff Braid>Albright>6ft mono>swivel>hook trace Sinker always running above the swivel but on mono as opposed to braid as I'm paranoid
  17. What's Bear spray? Here I was watching movies and documentaries, thinking that Wolves and Bears are some relentless, unstoppable, blood thirsty man eaters and there has only been 1 fatal wolf attack?!!? And you can ward of bears with spray. Bears always play in the back of my mind when I think about northern north America.
  18. Yeah sharing fish around is always great. Love taking some up to the grandparents, friends or others. Fish is always appreciated it seems.
  19. How many people do you employ to clean the squid?!?!?! 1/2 a dozen is enough for me to clean, bugger doing that many. Really like the look of the pickled squid though, great write up.
  20. Wow, nice looking place. That does look bloody cold, could deal with that for a bit but if the wind came up I'd be in the car pretty quick.
  21. The massive fall in competition from the carp alone should allow natives to grow way faster and hopefully a far greater number of eggs survive rather than being munched on by carp. Honestly I would love it if the Eastern states and SA could by example and maintain the "correct" environmental flows until periods of drought occur and then we can close her up. We've got to remember the Murray would never have been an overly hospitable place to survive and reproduce due to the highly varied rainfall in Aus. If we can naturalise it just enough then maybe we will see the return of the 250lb cod
  22. It will be interesting to see, should the virus remove 70% or more of the carp, what species fill the space left by them. Expecting a big boom in Silver perch and Catty numbers first and foremost.
  23. As long as it is guaranteed to not harm any natives.
  24. Very nice fellas, inshore snapper are alot of fun when you have the chance to get onto them.
