OK, a few pics here too since this is a new design. The reel seat is like the Fuji seat on the Zing Xteme Gen II,

except Daiwa doesn't have the scallops, it's 'ergonomic' and at first I thought it silly, but damned if it don't work well. Even the fact that there's no EVA  is a good thing as you are more directly connected to the line, then again I wear sun gloves anyway

note the hook keeper is behind the reel so that the line cant catch on it unintentionally...anyway your hand grips the curves in a very natural way, hard to show but...

Oh, look who's been cleaning squid

I need to take it bream fishing, and then out on the flats.

I settled on the Infeet 732LFS, bloody hell it's thin/light for a 1-4kg rod but lots of back end power. Sportsfishing Scene at Cavan had all 3 rods (Zing Xtreme, Arrowz, Infeet) with a few models of each. Was a very tough call but in the end decided 7'6 was longer than I needed and couldn't really find a reason to pay the extra $50 for the Zing Xtreme. The Arrowz are great rods for the money when discounted but reviews on these new Infeet are glowingly positive (could be all marketing/sponsorship hype of course) but life's short. A good chance I'll have one of each in the arsenal at some point   See how long it takes me to do something stupid with this one...

The main thing that concerns me is being able to reach the tip on a 7'6 as I seem to have a knack for looping the braid around the last eye in any kind of wind.😆 I'm kinda going on the idea that the longer rod will allow for more lure action.
Boxing day specials might happen but that's usually on older models I think.
I can almost buy 2 Arrowz (on special) for 1 Zing extreme, but is the Zing twice as nice to use? So hard to tell because until you get on the water you can't really compare them, and comparing even roughly in the shop is really hard as no shop carries both lines. The Infeet 7'6 looked interesting but no local stock that I can find.

Yeah thanks for the details - it interesting to hear others views on how to sharpen and why certain techniques are better than others.

If I filleted more fish, I might take it a bit more seriously - but I do alot of catch and release. So as long as my knives can go through a couple of carp or a few snapper and still be sharp at the end - thats all I ask from my knives.

I've still got my old stone -  and in the back of my mind -  I will get around to mastering it one day - but for now - my $6 knives will continue to get the rough treatment😉

This is sure to cause rage amongst stone lovers but I’m going to post any way😉

the Jarvis Walker deluxe knife sharpener  is a brutal little unit, that will get a knife shaving sharp in a few strokes.

and for $10.50 you can get a sharpener and knife you can shave with.

Been thinking it’s might be time to spend more time chasing natives on the Murray and ressies. Have not fished the fresh except some creeks since I was a kid
after picking the brains of a couple on members on here I decided I needed a new setup to chase natives
here it is with a few bits of candy

If you haven’t tried a rubber filleting mat. Just get one. All theses year I’ve been chasing fish around slippery filleting tables... never realising there was a better way

Just having a fish stay still and even offer a bit of resistance against the knife was an eye opener

I've been meaning to put this on the site for some time, forgot all about it..
Not for the want of trying I finally caught and released a decent size wild brown trout for a change. Even better was the fact it was my personal best of the season so far. Still hoping to break the one kilo mark & better before the season ends on the last Sunday closest to the end of April 2021. The larger three rivers (Meander, Mersey & Leven) I fish do hold a few trout well over the kilo size, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
     cheers

Yeah the hose falling off the table was driving me nuts so I figured I should take care of some other issue aswell.

Speaking of always thinking. I was in the bathroom before an noticed this listerene bottle ( with a few mods). Would make the perfect marker float😉

I tend to make up little day packs depending on the species I’m after

little pocket packs and some back ups in a slightly larger tub

also keep a check list near the tackle,to make sure I don’t miss anything when packing

I use those, but am going to try the egg type as they are stronger and as far as I can tell more secure as they overlock, and seem the closest thing to a loop knot.

Of course they are "cross rock"! If you want to annoy a Japanese person ask them to say "racecourse"
(I have a number of Japanese friends)
BTW, these are Y300, which is like $4, why do we pay $10?

I finally got around to giving one of two of Brayden's hard body lures ( 41mm 4g Brown trout pattern) a go today in the Mersey River in dull overcast conditions and very clear water..
the lure worked a treat picking up a brown & a rainbow trout in quick time.. the fishing was tough today with a low moving in, I did hook and lose two trout on it as well.
They're a great action light weight lure, very impressed with it.. here's a couple of pic;'s..
    cheers
    Adrian...

The brown was the first that fell to the lure..

Then not long after a rainbow was landed..
