  1. awww crap !....I feel so ashamed now hehehe
  2. I have a dilemma and a new addiction { nothing new there } There was a time when I went went fishing with just 2 rods and reels...one for top fishing and one for bottom fishing, then I started reading fishing mags and forum reports and am now possessed with choices ...just in case. I I have now resorted to being eccentric in my perceived needs and now on the boat I take.............. 1 one rigged for Gar and Tommies 1 rigged for Whiting { little used so far } 1 for Snapper or the like { wishfull thinking } 1 rigged for Squid 1 rigged for light spinning for Snook, Salmon tro
  3. Yep, George Clooney I aint lol
  4. Actually this altered diagram may explain better...applies to feeder floats as well
  5. Well I dont know about you but there is always a bit of tubing somewhere around my house, does not have to be clear, bit of old car fuel hose, garden irrigation tubing, bit of old electrical wire casing etc etc There is bound to be some tubing somewhere around the place, I never buy it deliberately, just scrounge something Best to get tight fitting tubing, that way the line will stay put until you pull it through with a bit of force. Most floats will take 6mm/1/4 inch tube. For a berley float as pictures just that black tubing from garden micro spray set ups is perfect
  6. Yeah, maybe we could team up and model gloves too hahahahaha....any rude comments just for a laugh mate, no serious comments whatsoever
  7. Bit harsh Col. Real ugliness comes from inside people, I don't care what they look like on the outside. Are you serious ?.............100% in fun mate, just stirring the pot for a bit of a laugh, I reckon Hoopsy would see the funny side...it's how us Aussies kid about, at least in my lifetime....no offense or insult intended whatsoever....call me a Scumbag and I'll laugh........cheers
  8. Just make sure the tubing sits tight and doesn't allow any part of the float to protrude beyond it.......the picture is only half right, the tubing in it is old and stretched, and the one on the left is not sitting correctly,...it has some float stem sticking out. the bit of tube on the right is a better example.
  9. I'm not gunna ever eat chili crab if I end up looking like those two fishos ...so.....is it a pre requisite to look dog ugly to be a real fisherman To be honest I've never been fond of any chili crab, too messy and crab meat is best unflavoured I reckon, just a slab thick white bread, generously buttered and gorge yourself in paradise.
  10. Cheers, only 1 week on Christmas Island and 2 weeks on Cocos Islands ...should be able to give it a good test of it's worth
  11. I buy what I need on the day, anything left over goes into one container, a seafood mix to be pulped up and used for berley
  12. This is what I have been doing all my life, and my father who was a very skilled Garfisherman before me. If you can understand my explanation it will decrease your tangle problem greatly. Basically the pencil float is held onto the mainline above the swivel with two bits of rubber tubing slid over line and float ends...this allows very simple trace adjustment by easily pulling line through the tubing ends. { Also allows for very quick and simple float changes } IMPORTANT......The tubing needs to be of a size that it slips over the float ends leaving no, or very little float end protrud
  13. What about graphite powder or similarly rub a bit of pencil on the male end
  14. OK, just been doing some internet searches and it seems this is common, if not deliberate to allow for wear down the track enabling the rod to last longer. Seems sanding is not a good idea as was suspected it may in time lead to sloppy joints. I'll leave it be and just apply ferrule wax or graphite powder regularly
  15. Thanks, one would expect for the price...$400.00 plus new ...that it would be better refined, seems maybe not ? Easy enough to lightly sand back to make a better look, but maybe not necessary, but purely for aesthetics. My concern is if I sand it back a little to fit nice and snug and pretty after a while of use it may become sloppy in the joins. Wonder if it is deliberately designed as it is to allow for future wear. Might try some ferrule wax even if to make the chance of jamming less of a worry. Cheers
  16. Sorry, maybe should of put this in the similar thread already started, but........ I bought a secondhand Daiwa Demon Blood Saltist 2.4mtr 3 piece rod and tube a while back for travelling to Christmas and Cocos islands later this year. Haven't used it yet, but itching to do so. Seems like a great lightweight HD rod for shore or boat but am curious about one aspect of the rod sections. Not sure if it matters much in terms of rod performance but the sections dont slide together all the way, there is a small section around 10mm that does not push right up to the bindings. There is of cour
  17. Sorry cant give you specific spots as I dont fish for them, but pretty much any fresh water creek, dam, river, lake will be good for Carp fishing, they abound.
  18. If boating is your main reason for sunnies then dont buy expensive. I have lost untold sunnies overboard on boats from leaning over, somebody swiping a rod or rope across my face and sunnies going skyward with them. Boat sunnies are always getting cleaned because of salt, fish guts etc etc so they become scratched pretty quick. If money is no option then buy the expensive stuff, but if you are on a budget buy cheap as you wont have 'em for long are my findings
  19. Nicely timed...something about standing out in an electrical storm with an electronic metal casing camera mounted on a tripod that excites me lol lol
  20. Good job, I fitted a couple of cheapish Blueline holders and they aren't worth the outlay....sexy looking blue line on that reel to
  21. Was there last year and seen some bloke spin up 3 nice Trout on the main lake edge just on the outskirts of town, but bloody cold. So many likely spots all around the area, you'll love it and next time I go back to NZ the travelling rods will come with me
  22. lol....let it sit in the sun for a while, believe me it will have flavour lol...but yes terribly mushy
  23. Use a scaling bag. Remove the head, cut about off about 1 cm above the bottom of the tube then tow behind the boat for a couple of minutes at 15 knots. They come out clean as a whistle. I've heard this but not tried it yet, now if their was only some sure fire way of beheading and removing the feather without busting the ink sack I'd be even more pleased...Squid is a pita to clean
  24. What !!!...no Squid eyes in the jars hehe { seriously, I once knew a family who used to eat the eyes as well, and the children would bicker over who got to eat them
