  4. Great photo I have a great affinity with Browns Beach and once use to fish it every friday afternoon when I lived on the York Pen.I really miss those days and I have now used your pic as my desktop background so I can reminisce every time I turn the computer on.I can remember fishing a day there when the sky looked the same but the water went that oily calm you sometimes get before a storm. It will go down as being the best session I ever had at the place and the fish were hungry and big.My biggest that day went 14lb and 10lber's were ho hum. I took a mate there that day for his first visit an
  5. When Ive been coming back from St Kilda Ive seen plenty of people fishing that area just after the tram museum and I always wondered what they were catching there.Personally I thought you would have to be pretty desperate to catch a fish to even contemplate fishing there but once or twice I thought about stopping just to see what was going on.Thats all though I would never in my wildest dreams think about pulling out a rod and trying cheerssnapps

  12. No worries I had a bit of a practice today, cast a few up and down the road my neighbours are starting to worry about me I think but you know what its like when you get the urge and are bored Must say Ive still got it I surprized myself but unfortunately the fish weren't biting and I didnt catch any :woohoo: cheerssnappsPS I dont know if its been done but perhaps we should organise a fly day down at west lakes where we all get together for a social fish
  13. Bugga that means the fishin is going to be tough this weekend.Bream and mullies will be full of juicy worms
  14. Gday mateMullies will take a variety of lures both soft and hard. I would take into consideration the terrain and depth of water when making my choice. If its deep water then using a lure that only dives to a depth of say a metre is making it hard for yourself. I would go for a softy say a 5" jerkbait or a 6" worm on just enough weight jighead to suit the conditions you are fishing. I always try to fish the lightest I can as I feel it gives a better presentation. If the water is deeper or the fish are feeding on the surface then any minnow type lure will work. Once again it would pay to observe
  15. Im not an expert but I think they are a herring. In W.A. they do refer to them as Herring but here we call em Tommy Ruff's.Changing the names of fish is nothing new look at Callop they are refered to as Yellowbelly in every other state and Australian Bass are not a bass at all and in some country parts of NSW they do actually call them Perch as they are.Mulloway are refered to as Jewfish or Jewies in some parts of the country and what we call salmon trout here are referred to as bay trout in Vic. Some call Murray Cod Goodoo small Tailor are referred to as choppers Northern Bluefin tuna are act
  16. Nice one Micky I admire your persistence I would have given up on the popper and gone for another fly.Since the soft plastic bug has bitten me Ive not picked up my flyrod nearly as much as I use too. It was a form of fishing I loved and really its about time I got off my backside and joined you guys for a wave of the wand.If ever you feel like the need for a partner to join in a session give me a shout and I'll dust off the rod and see if I can still catch a fish with it cheerssnapps

  22. Hi Fella'sChuck scored a fish or two as we all did but he is a shy sorta guy who hates being the centre of attention so I didnt show you his fish plus due to the rain we didnt take many pics.Always a pleasure to fish with you Gaff looking forward to the next time we get out.Im not permitted to divulge the location of the creek as its not my spot and I dont want to upset the person who showed me but I will say that at this time of the year they are present in many of the creeks around the Port and its surrounds. Half the fun is getting out there and looking for em.I used Gulp 7"jerkbaits in cam
  23. Well over the long weekend even though the weather wasn't too promising and we had checked out bom and their radar imagining which showed plenty of rain coming our way both of us being semi crazy decided why the heck not lets go fishing. Now as I said Chuck and myself are a lost cause when it comes to fishing and we have been known to cast a line into our own bath water and even catch a few :icon_lol: but on the Sunday his girlfriend was mad enough to tag along and showed us up by landing the only 2 mullies netted. I did however manage to lose my only hook up.Going home with our tails firmly b
