Hi guys and gals! just wondering what your preferences are for soft plastic rods and hard bodied rods? Not so much brands but style ie soft fine tip and medium taper or stiff tip and fast taper? as ill be looking too upgrade but dont want to buy a rod for soft plastics and then find it doesnt stay in contact with the soft plastic s well as my old one or i cant get the right action i want out of it! Thanks for your thoughts Reelin

Great Topic guys I am watching this with interest being a new convert to braid on my soft plastic and hard body reels which for the moment are only cheapies But i have had them spooled at the anglers choice i cant remember the braid but it was reccomended to me and i haven't had any problems with it bar a few wind knots, and these are mostly from being not vigilant enough on the spool :dry: When i get a better reel i will be looking to spool it with a bit more expensive braid so keep the comparisons coming

Nice list Mark i forgot to add Rainbow troutFlatheadThe pigeon i caught from the southport footbridge it flew out as i cast and got one hell of a surprise :woohoo: it was fun reelin it in i had to set the drag up a bit tighter as it had some fight next time i might play it a bit on lighter line if i catch one just kidding. The hook was lodged in the breast but it was easy to dislodge once i got on the footbridge and it flew away no harm done!

My List is Mainly shore, Jetty and river fishing its small but slowly getting bigger:-Salmon and salmon trout-garfish-kg whiting-yellowfin whiting-puffer fish-angelfish-tommies-yelloweye mullet-coorong mullet-yellowfin bream-black bream-redfin perch-trevalley-carp-barramundi -mangrove jack-squid-barracouda-pigeon

Thats a pretty big collection of flies there mickeyj I reckon you should just get out there and try some and see if they work!! You might get hits on ones that no one else has used and it could be your new secret weapon

thanx softy! i am definately glad i didnt go to the jetty today and try for squid i was going to but i thought the weather probably would turn them off glad my instincts were right for once :woohoo:
