  1. Guys, may be heading to Port Douglas next month for a few days and of course will look at wetting a line!! Anybody fished up there and have any recommendations? Obviously the options are many but I'm thinking a day charter somewhere(under $500)and I may also take a limited amount of gear with me for any casual flicks nearby if the time arises.Would like to hear if anybody has fished up there!!!!
  2. understand all the above "freak" occurances, but lets admit it, most of the time we have to use the proven techniques, and there is even times when even a $40 top of the range jig wont get them to hit.squid = quick and easy feed / bait catching excercise, IMHO, it gets over thought way to often!!again, Ive seen pros clean up using $5 jigs and handlines, dont fathom how people spend $30 on a jig then get purpose built EGI outfits for them, its crazy!! They are just sacks of seaweed with th eod lunge when bringing them in!!
  3. highly doubt it would've been the work of a professional fisherman, makes no sense that they would cut the heads of and leave them and then what? rock up to the market with headless mullies.....don't reckon soWould've been a rec filleting their catch on the water thinking it would make it harder to prove what they took if caught with fillets.Just saying that's all, by no means condoning the behaviour
  4. They actually break the law to do so aswell!!! :woohoo: I reckon we should put a proposal in to get a round of the Kayak bream comp to be held in there, make for some good tv if its "flowing" nicely on the day
  5. Sad times when we have to resort to fishing in effluent for a few fish,,,,,,  Watching a few Kayakers in there would be entertaining but
  6. Took the midget to St Kilda playground yesty arvo. I noticed a couple cars parked on the side of the main road (after you turn of Pt Wakefield) and saw a couple guys standing over looking what looks like a concrete drain , but they were fishing in it!!! Is this a spot X of sorts or what? Is there always water in that drain or just post some rain and most importantly, has anybody fished it and caught fish out of there?
  7. Ripper!!! Im still a tunna virgin

  13. I use windfinder all the time, its really good to quickly get an overview of what its looking like for the next week or so in your area. As it gets closer, I then start comparing it to BOM, and always take BOM over it, allthough I do find it to be pretty close. i like its 2hrly intervals and find it really acurate most of the time.I use Seabreeze to see tides quickly and easly but ignore its wind strength, its always wrong.I dont use Willy often, but when Ive compared its always very winder in real life than predicted. In summary, I use Windfinder to pick a "period" , then BOM to nail the exact
  14. Exactly boyo, its an industrial area much like any other port that isn't exactly a pristine area, yet u can't fish there and the snapper hang around like garfish basking in the sun!!Don't reckon you'd see them do this at Vietch rd!!Amazing vid, that's for sure
  15. Amazing footage! But that video is exactly what the pro no take zone brigade could use as ammunition for fish sanctuaries. Hate to say it, but those fish wouldn't be there in that way if we as recs or the pro sector was alowed to fish there

  20. yeh, who wouldve thought the japanese had a diffrent word for "squid jag":Being a master of the Egi is to be a master of the squid jig. Egi translated from Japanese into English basically means ‘squid lure’.^^taken from the berkley site
