  1. Not the type to randomly post links, but this one sure gives an insight to times of the past and could help explain why some things are now as they are. The squid pix,are just plainly bizzarre: http://www.sportfishingmag.com/news/igfa-founder-michael-lerner-s-history-and-rare-photo-collection?image=176157#igfa-founder-michael-lerner-s-history-and-rare-photo-collection?image=176118&_suid=139872842851304850021393511278

  3. Yep, everyone had to start a fresh un fortunately. But all your actual posts are still there, I quick search on a topic will quickly show the long term quality contributors tho!!
  4. Been a tradition around here, and I thought it's due, so how did your summer fair? Personally, I had a pretty decent one. On Snapper open, I was lucky enough to get onto the Southern Bft with Dutchy, before the schools spooked and went wide. I then got good catches of snapper out north leading up too and around Xmas / New year's, and followed them out off the gulf these last couple months. Freezer is well stocked. Had a few really good sessions that just clicked, others that where a bit harder, but stil got a few. On a lesser note, we did waste the good part of a day chasing b

  13. Always keen to see Shark/game threads on here guys, I’m sure it interests alot of readers, just you boys like to keep it all pretty quiet. Understandable considering the regs and rules in play these days.Hopefully can add to this thread after the weekend, Pauly took lots of effort to help guide this Googan in the right direction, let’s see if I can get me some teeth.Big boat= checkSharky waters= checkRight tackle = check ( as long as I don’t hook 12-15ftrs)Skill levels of angler = ........ time will tellFind it interesting the term "wog" seems to be so accepted by most these days.Growing
  14. All good Khombi, always hard to gauge peoples manners on these forums, and I can assure you that most have the best intentions. M Hitler,( recent user name change it seems) is an active and long term member of both the AGFC and this forum, I havne no doubt you both share the same views in regards to C&R. and the well being of all our sea creatures :)Just a case of online miss-conception me thinks
  15. Pretty sure, most people release the rays and some sharks are actually good eating if that way inclined. Both species release pretty well so very suited to C&R fishing.A eagle ray run is only matched by the likes of kingfish for speed and nothing comes close to a big smoothy or big shark ( I assume) for a decent, long lasting back bend.I also believe in some tournaments, these species are classified and thus worthy of catching on light line.I have a mate who won a light line class in a contest with a huge eagly
  16. The banks are a huge area tho mate, and I can assure you plenty have made the trip for zilch
  17. There some great memorires right there mate!!Goes to prove you dont need a 8m boat and be 100km of shore to have a great time, the kids wont forget those days in a million years
  18. 2500 sienna will be fine and better balanced for anything local and land based.Salmon season is dawning us and these guys will be pretty easy from landbased spots walking distance from semi.As for a website, are you serious? you just posted on this forum!!Search my friend!! :cheer: :cheer:
  19. When the marina was first built, we used to get schoolies inside the marina. Right next to the pontoon that the KI ferry used to dock onto. The pontoon is gone, but the concrete that it used to be bolted to is still there.Hot Feb arvos as the sun went down, pillies for bait.On the outside, cast out a Tommy under a float and get the squid whilst you burley up the gar n Tommys.
  20. A few years back my old man gave me a South Australian almanac, not a pocket size one tho, a proper book. reckon it was AFC brand? May have seen them in Kmart?anyway, apart from being an almanac and having space to use it as a diary, it had sections on most popular local species , habitats, locations and techniques. Was only cheap, maybe $20-$30?
  21. Dude, Il even quote my own bad grammar.
  22. fly fishing, the ultimate game of deception, and you sir, have it well and truly down packed
  23. All well and good, but it`s also no bad thing to be aware of what is going on away from a jetty or boat. A little bit of information dissemination could potentially assist in raising awareness and thus possibly helping safeguard the recreation activity down the track?PIRSA - to be fair, there can be a grey area overlap between a simplistic explanation of "what" versus asking for (quite legitimately) an elaboration on the "why" of any given regulatory change...the difficulty is that the latter has the potential to get a little out of hand.Yep, I agree Kon, and let’s remember that the people w
  24. carn man, seriously? Its a bloody rare skate he is looking for some info on!!Hardly a target species for the average rec and has no commercial value!!The same tit for tat arguement your pushing could be used in regards to your constant "hard" questions aimed at PIRSA.They answer just about every question that is asked on here , should they also just go away and leave us to our own devices ?One could see the way they are often treated as harrassment!! I know if part of my job description was having to log onto the local fishing forum and deal with the constant bagging and questioning, Id be hi
