  1. Top work, nice photo of great looking fish. Fantastic to get a first, and I'm sure there's gonna be many more, well done.
  2. Hey ShaneomackI picked up a Berkley IM7 Dropshot Tournament Pro Gen II, one piece 6.6’ 8-10kg Jerk-n-Jig for $100 at Ray and Annes last night. That’s way under your budget for what I believe is a quality SP Snapper rod. Lots of beer tokens left over. I matched it up with a Shimano Aernos 4000FA, spooled with 15lb Tufline XP Red. To say I’m excited about using this combo on an upcoming Snapper charter is a massive understatement. :woohoo: Cheers.
  3. Nice work JJ Great video, looks like you've got it sorted with the new set up :f :f Cheers.
  4. Nice topic Jack. The Strike and Hook site has directly led me to catching fish. Site member Shauno organised a charter last year which led to several site members catching big Snapper. Now some may say ‘easy to catch fish on a charter’ and that may or may not be the case but that day 3 amazing things happened.1. Watching my son catch some big Snapper :woohoo: 2. Catching a 10kg+ Snapper :woohoo: :woohoo: 3. And this was the most rewarding, catching a Snapper on my new combo which was bought on direct advice from the tackle night and was my first Snapper on a soft plastic. :wooh
  5. Nice work Bass13, looks like a good size ray, well done on the C+R aswell.
  6. Haha, this is great.Top video JJ, and funny as photos Softy and Bigtime, love it.
  7. Nice work FF, it had me stumped, but your Pencil weed whiting looks spot on.
  8. Nice topic Southie, makes for a good read. With sporting commitments ending soon and a bit more time on my hands, I'm looking forward to just getting out land based and wetting a line , any fish are a bonus. :woohoo: The number 1 target I have is a legal size, metro, land based Snapper caught on a soft plastic. Getting close.
  9. I was at Port Hughes for a few days early last week and it was the same over there, very quiet, no land based fish landed, that I saw, and very few squid. The very helpful guy at Moonta tackle shop mentioned there had been a bloodworm run recently, so I blamed that, and not my fishing ability. :pinch: I did manage four squid in total but that's not much to show for the hours put in on the Jetty.
  10. Awesome video Jack. Some top looking fish. :woohoo: Look forward to reading/watching the report on the 50+lb Mulloway, soon. :woohoo:
  11. Sounds like Qantas are sqeezing every cent out thier customers. Just be careful with Jetstar and your rod tube length. I flew to Sydney with Virgin and had no problems with my rod tube, and flew back with Jetstar and they would not put it on the plane as it was to long for their baggage containers, my rod tube is only 7ft or 7.5ft. I ended up having to pay for it to go back to adelaide on an air courier service. :pinch: It might pay to check with Jetstar before you leave.
  12. :pinch: :pinch: Just realised this topic is nearly 2 years old. Better late than never  :silly:
  13. Reelin this is a very common rig used on Jetties, with the jig set at a depth with a little stopper above the float so your jig sinks to the required depth. You can just leave this rig out in the water and let the swell/wave movement impart the action onto your jig to attract the squiddlies. The closer to the bottom the better, you can alter the depth by moving your stopper up or down the line. This rig can be used with a handline or rod, and you can replace the jig with a teaser Tommie or spiked Tommie.Any squidding I do is land based, and I usually move up and down the jetty/rocks stopping a
  14. I use both, I usually prefer the Sqidgies, but my favourite soft plastics at the moment are the Berkley Powerbait Minnows and Hollow Bellys.
  15. Nice work mayzee. :woohoo: Cracking fish, well done.
  16. Beautiful looking Squid :woohoo: . Scary how big your fingers looks  .
  17. If my effort last week is anything to go by, then I should forget to tip.
  18. Is it April fools day?
  19. Awesome work JJ , top video and fish :woohoo: , thanks for sharing and goodluck on the quest for 1m+ Mully. :cheer:
  20. Nice topic Jack, good reading.Summer started with a bang for my son and me as we were LUCKY enough to be on the crazy charter day organised by S&H member Shauno, so I caught my 1st (2nd, 3rd....) big Snapper and my 1st big Snapper on a soft plastic :woohoo: . I’ve been on the soft plastic learning curve this summer, a very steep curve and one that I’m only at the bottom of , but I have managed to land my 1st legal land based Bream, Flathead and Snook and my 1st (not legal, yet) land based Snapper, 33cms, all on a soft plastics :cheer: . Also managed to get a few feeds of Ga
  21. Nice fish Jack. :woohoo: Looks like 1m+ and 20lb+ to my very uneducated eyes. :pinch: If you had claimed it was 102cms and 9.1kgs(ie 20+lbs) I don't think anyone would have doubted that it was, and :c them if they did.
  22. Looks like you've covered it UHF, nice work mate. Love that photo, :woohoo: who's the good looking young lad in the background? :silly:
