Braid - Leader, Who Ties a Bimini?
fishnfreak replied to Steve-Bream-Fishing's topic in Bait & Tackle
i use a 40 turn bimini in my lines with a greater breaking strain than 15lb. Although i was told by a cluey fisho that a plait is better with braid while biminis are the go with mono. I still use biminis though. -
i personally would not target anything larger than about 4ft. but in summer during the run of small bronzies, then i would like to try some light tackle sharkin.BTW i paid $499(i think) for the tyrnos 30 and TCurve tyrnos heavy rod. this was at tackleworld salisbury and i was during a sale i reckon
-
mate if you can stretch your money a bit, the Tyrnos30 is a great reel, i have one and love it.Do you plan on fishing for sharks out the yak? I ask cause a few of us yakkers were going to do it last season but we ran out of time.

that sucks soo bad mate, although i'm not much of a DeWalt man myself!

Plastics for snook off jetties and rocks etc
fishnfreak replied to Shark_Fisho's topic in General Fishing
gday shark_fisho, i catch quite a few good snook off the pt Highes jetty during summer and i use Gulp 3in minnows, shrimp, and Squidgy flickbaits in the 70mm size. Although they work, i still rather use hardbody minnows like the yo-zuri mag minnows and rapala x-raps. -
you can wrap them in a blanket or foam and then slip it into the tube. You will also fit more in if you wrap them butt to tip
-
I have to say that the more expensive ones are the go. I have fished next to my mates who do not use quality jigs, and outfish them consistently, some with same and some with different colours, then give them Yo-Zuri's and it levels the field. Also squid may not see colour, but they do see differences in brightness. I guess you could relate it to seeing colour but in a different way.

Is it a real noodle or does it have a bit of guts to it?

thanks for the replies fellas. Sorry i should have mentioned that i already have a Tekota 600 for the bait rod, and was just after a rod. __matt__ i have already got a couple of snapper plastic rods (SOL 3000 and medium rod, and a Stradic FI 5000 on a Mexican fire Raider II snapper rod) but wanted something for bait
-
Hey, i am after a rod to add to my collection to chase some reds on bait. I would like a rod with a nice soft tip for sensing soft and cautious bites, but also enough power to stick it to some hefty fish. Price range is up to $300
-
Why not get the reel that it is made to match? At least they will colour match, if you're into that sorta thing
-
nice reel, i have the 3000 on a matching rod. Had it for almost 2 years i reckon, and not one issue. Is that sensor braid on it, i have 9 kilo Daiwa Sensor on mine.
-
no experience, but what are you fishing for off the beach with 80lb braid? Is there a reason 50lb wouldn't be enough, i'm sure even big mulloway would be done over easily enough on 50lb. What breaking strain is the rod rated at?

wish i read this before i tried to clean my set of jaws. I just chucked a whole 3 foot bronzey head on our ant hill but the sun baked it and i was left with a mummified shark head. I then took to it with my trusty blade, which took forever, and then thought,"oh well ill just soak it in some hot water to loosen up the jaw's ligaments." Bad move huh, as soon as the water from the kettle hit it the kitchen erupted in the worst smelling pong you could imagine! Then the jaws went soft and the top fell from the bottom.I was spewing as this was my first landbased shark, and i may have ruined the

used to use the stuff. Pre made rigs with about 25ft of wire. Now i have a better system, metre of wire, full length mono wind-on connected to a 50-turn bimini. In my opinion, it's a much better way of doing it
-
i use both. Although my near new TwinPower 2500 broke over cristmas. Something broke off internally and is rolling around in the gears.
-
hell yeah, it certainly sounds like fun!
-
gocrows-dont worry bout me mate, my kayaks 4.5m lol
-
i dont know about semaphore, but i like to make the best of their fight by using nice light tackle, I use 4-6lb, but with a leader of about 8-10lb, to help battle their teeth

Hey Benny, i beleive the RSPCA do not control or deal with fish. This was said to me by a person who deals with the RSPCA often. Also, i would like to say, as a young fisho, that it has to be encouraging to see so many other young guys here that are passionate about fishing and respecting the places we fish. Unfortunately, i beleive there are more young people who dont give a s*&% than responsible ones. I witnessed a youngen fishing by himself on Pt Hughes jetty, caught two Pt Jackson sharks (under 50cm) and threw them in the middle of the jetty. I dont know if he was bragging and showi

yep, i went as a first timer. Im a yak fisher, although im not overly interested in Hobie. I would like to see more emphasis on fishing. More stalls

Eastern states have published their fisheries booklets in several languages so that these people cannot use ignorance as an excuse. I beleive they still know that they are doing the wrong thing as you see people telling them the rules and legalities all the time, but the booklets might help to bring a few to the legal side of the fence. And Snake, good work on releasing the undersize fish, we have done that many a time, including kicking their buckets over the side, so they cannot continnue to keep undersize fish. Dont worry we recover the bucket once they leave, im not littering!
