  1. Cut my teeth fishing in the Port River. Many Mulloway caught between 20lb & 50lb. Some caught 50lb plus. Enjoy the adrenalin rush particularly on those cold nights & still do. Great fighting fish when first hooked but they tire quickly once you have them under control.I then chased Snapper. Excellent fighting fish in all depths & great on a hot bite as bag limit can be obtained in a very short time. Significantly easier to get than Mulloway. Anything over 60cm now gets released. Decided to chase Kingfish at Port Augusta many years ago. This in my opinion is the ants pants. They fig

@ Raider. Definately use Rob @ South Oz Rods. Otherwise muck around with the other methods already suggested.
  3. @afishyfish - the ones on the far left are juvenile rugger snapper & the one on the far right looks like a juvenile rugger snapper!!!!!!!!
  4. Here is mine at just under 13kgs. This is one of many that I have been fortunate to catch of similar size over many years on the water.
  5. I disagree with you skbtmb. There are two other boat clubs that are excellent without ramp issues & have very good facilities. Both 24/7 access & security. Fess are less as well. There is also a third one but I'm not a member of this one.
  6. If you want a quick portable live bait set up until you work out how to set up something different, I have have used the following method:- Get a round blue chemical container. (Thoroughly clean out). A round or an oval shaped container is better I think so the fish don't stick their head in one corner & sit there. Forces them to swim around! - Cut the drum at about the 20 gallon mark- Get a vertical aerator that sprays water down from the head into the drum. It has an adjustable head. Comes with alligator clips or a cigarette lighter attachment or it can be easily wired to whatever suit
  7. When I was fishing on beaches & from rocks many moons ago this is what I devised. A storm water PVC pipe approx 1m long. Attached at the bottom was a steel rod approx 800 long with a T-Piece welded to the steel rod at the base of the PVC pipe(or top of the rod if that makes more sense) . This allowed to push the holder into the sand with yours hands using the T-Piece to a certain depth & then you could use your feet to push the holder further down up to the bottom of the PVC tube. This left a metre of PVC tube protruding above the sand into which the rod went into. (Never fell over et
  8. IMO nowhere near as good as locally caught & cooked crabs!!!!!. Plenty around at the moment.
  9. Hi Jack.Yeh good link to read.I have experimented in these creeks for years particularly when i had a tinnie. Many a time went into these creeks to be blocked off by an overgrown mangrove or a log or tree branch in the creek. Usually just forced the tinnie thru the mangrove bush or just lifted the tinnie over the obstruction & continued on.Experienced great fishing with legal Mulloway, Bream, Flathead, huge Gar, Mullet, Salmon Trout, Catfish, small Snapper, trumpeters, whiting, stingrays, fiddlers, sea snakes not to mention billions of mosquitoes & an amazing spectacle of bird life &a
  10. You are right jimbojames. Not intentional to be narrow minded but the big fellas are in the Port. Well done on your catch. They all fight well & good for the adrenalin.I recall catching many smaller Mulloway in the Port whilst targeting bream. Like you say any Mulloway is a good Mulloway.
  11. Where were you fishing first of all?? Onk I guess. Wouldn't bother with the Onk but I guess a good training ground from what I have read. When you get serious go to the Port. I have been fishing the Port for Mulloway for over 35 years. Generally have success every year at some point. Can give you some hints but you need to get large live baits first even if you have to spend the time to get them. Then you need a good live bait system. After that it is time fishing. Over the years I have taught myself simple is best. Areas to fish & when, time to go etc is another matter. Basic ABU 7000 or S
