  1. I'm intrigued in regards to wether any of these fish were hook or indeed landed? The annual run of "grey" mullet (jumping mullet) is coming to an end... A fish that I have fished and followed all of my(& my family have fished for generations) fishing life. We fished some beauties from the river this year (although not fished as regulary as would be desired) and witnessed some crackers to 4 kilo (can grow to 8kilo) spawning within the river. If there is concern in regards to this fishery... I and family would be the first to notice. Everything is just fine and dandy though. We are very happ
  2. seems NSW government has it's recreational past times held in high regard compared to our state government, seems they are improving things for recreational benefit rather than our state governments mentality of financial benefit.... 'NSW Recreational fishing trust" hmmm, does any thing similar exist in south Aust?
  3. Poor bugga, what a tragedy. well done to Mr Lindfield for trying his best to help him. Be careful down there peoples

  5. 2leftboots is in . TeamJinx was Jinxed so a name change was in order
  6. Thats mully, shark and what ever grabs it mainline. for salmon I will go 15pound mono
  7. agree with Plankton, braid is brilliant for lures in the surf.... with a mono trace of a metre to the lure. Only ever used braid once of the beach at salts(one cast) that rod slept for the rest of the weekend. Mono by far, used sufix 25 pound brilliant line for the overhead. choices open up with an egg beater reel, currently running 30 pound with the Penn spinfisher for bigger baits. Seaweed=current is braids worst enemy.

    Pentax K5

Hey Fishnuts, I am looking to upgrade my current pentax Dslr. Was just wondering, what is the shelf price of the K5? and did you get any lenses with the package?. Very nice pics colour/depth
  9. Bit late with my reply, No swell in a particular part of the beach can mean either a deep sandy gutter, a deep rocky gutter or a weedy/deep gutter. What I have found best is a wave that is breaking on shallow water and then stops breaking(deep water). this is the edge of your gutter. This area will only get deeper on a high tide so start here at the end of the low. Don't be scared of white water in the surf or off the rocks, these spots can hold good fish. as with most fishing get on the edge of a channel/drop off because it offers protection for bait fish
  10. Easter will be my last ditch effort to quell my fishing hunger before my under 10's footy team start their footy season. So I'd better make it a good one, but I'll probably stay local(south metro)and launch the Mulloway kursk2 a few times I think Gd luck fishing to all and drive safely.
  11. I best go fill the boat with water and bring the pet Galah in :S
  12. Well just like the in the footy days, The wetter the better, Don't mind the winds either(landbased) aslong as I'm rugged up and waterproof it's all good. Setting up camp and packing up camp is a different story though.
  13. Compared to the previous summer it was a very quiet one fish wise for me, Still had some good fishing trips though. Got to take my daughter on her very first Salt Creek trip , Her second Salt Creek trip was a week later because she loved it so much the first time :cheer:. Australia Day was celebrated by purchasing a boat So it wasn't all bad I guess
  14. Hasn't affected my fishing at all, I still catch nothing good subject though
  15. Very helpfull Troy , Thanks for your answer
  16. I've never really taken notice of any brands, I usually use brined pillies over fresh because of durability as most of my fishing is off the beach. I do make sure the brined pillies I choose are firm to the touch because I think that means they haven't been sitting in the bait fridge for too long. I get mixed results but I am used to that, If I don't catch anything then the fish aren't there, If i do catch something it's probably a fluke
  17. You're not the only one to suffer from PC dyslexia Troy, I am also a sufferer :cheer: Thanks for helping us out Phear. Another question for you Troy in regards to trolling lures outside of the Port Noarlunga reef(seaward side). Are you allowed to troll lures from a boat within the 100metre mark(seaward side of reef) shown on the aquatic reserve map? Also is anchoring banned within the 100metre mark?Over the years the no anchor zone(from memory) has expanded in distance a few times, Thanks in advance for your answers. I think it's awesome that PIRSA are a part of this forum, good on ya's.
  18. Clicked on ya link there Troy and got a page not found :S  .
  19. After learning a bit about reading weather maps. before I go on fishing trips I usually print off the 4 day weather map page http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/4day_col.shtmlThen I will take notes from this pagehttp://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/marine/wind/index.jspTrying to get the most updated version of both I usually put 2 and 2 together and it usually becomes fairly accurateunless there is a sea breeze, which I think the bureau just assume happens every day in spring/summer unless they forget to assume or guess it Lows turn in a clockwise direction and highs turn in an anti-clockwise direc
  20. Mulloway will always be my addiction1 legal and about 8 non legals in 20 years of trying and I only got the legal Mully last year Once flicked small plastics for bream under a light in a certain river and had a 1 metre plus Mully sail past Lets just say I have never flicked small lures since Next on the to do list is catch a snapper from the beach, hope I won't have to wait aslong. But this is why we keep going back because you just never know
  21. Try sitting on the back of a moored house boat(more like a shed on pontoons) in the Murray having a "quiet fish" it's not possible. I thought there was a 4knot speed limit when passing any moored vessel within a certain distance?A super soaker(pump gun) loaded with tuna oil and the tuna oil water bombs can be the grenades Let the war begin :silly:
  22. Keen as Trouta hit me up with ya code and GO THE CATTERS!!!
