  1. Looks the goods mate. Hope to see a pic with one hanging out of a fishes gob
  2. Yep. Used them for salmon. Spun it with steady retrieve and used a hopping soft plastic retrieve, both worked. Only had one jig and lost it to some reef bottom bashing. I've been looking at getting some from the states, or is there somewhere local I can grab a handfull for a good price.
  3. Well there ya go!! Some of those look a close copy to daiwa design wise. Would be interesting to see what a batch costs, I could start my own line of reels.
  4. Agree, nothing like tuff tackle. People are just pretty quick to diss stuff that's not shimano or diawa. Although after the tuff tackle saga can't blame em!!The smaller reels seem to get a good wrap, with the weight being the main concern. Might have to make google your friend.
  5. Love that double uni for ease of tying in the boat, or if it's windy or you've had a few drinks with cold hands or a combination of all those conditions!!!The five turn surgeons knot is also easy, as long as the leader isn't too long. I also find I have a lot more confidence in the improved albright over the original. It seems to hold a lot better an doesn't slip. Lots of knots are good to tie at home, but can be a bastard when on the water with cold hands or a wind blowing, which can lead to knot failure.
  6. Best of luck mate. I'm looking forward to finishing tractor work so I can throw some slices at salmon. Might even give the poppers a decent go as well.
  7. Nah not me mate. I don't even have Facebook!!!Wish it was though, I haven't been salmon fishing for over a month, and it will be close to the end of this month before I have another crack
  8. Yeah. I could remember having this discussion before!!I'm a big fan of singles for my salmon lures. I do a lot of catch n release with them. Don't like carrying too many fish up Locks Well staircase!!
  9. Bit of info here too. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/22-saltwater-fishing/159071-treble-or-single-hook-preferences
  10. That rod is a thing of beauty. Porn indeed!!Nice look to it, and incredibly light. My wife doesn't understand why I get excited over things like that. Doesn't matter if it's fishing gear, cars, guns or even furniture. It's no so much the bling that draws me in, it's the look of quality in a product. I hope you do get to purchase it and spend many hours not only marveling at its beauty, but also slaying many fresh and salt water fishies with the combo!!
  11. I like baitcasters in the boat for whiting fishing. It's easy to click your thumb to let line out when bobbing around. Also like the one handed operation for casting and trolling for salmon trout n snook
  12. Stradic. Stradic. Stradic. Stradic. Stradic!!!
  13. Sounds like you've got some good advice here mate, probably not much more I can add. Like everyone else has said, my mate is happy with his trailblazer. His is the 5.7m. He loves the cabin size and deck space, heaps of fishing room, but still enough cab to hide the kids if it's cold. The one thing he said was the ride can be a bit wet, especially on the windward side blowing spray from the v. As mentioned the finish of the boat I pretty good. Hope you can get something from what people have posted here mate. Cheers
  14. I've got a mate with a bit shorter trailcraft, but around the same year as you're looking at. He's only had it for 4 months or so. Think he's pretty happy with it. Like all ali boats it can bang a bit in choppy seas, but he's been out the back of sir issacs with a bit of swell and didn't complain too much. I can get onto him for more details if you like?
  15. Double good thread!!Great pics and write up, thanks Grego.Squid info as an added bonus
  16. If you're after mid to high range Shimano or diawa reels, I'd be looking at overseas websites instead of eBay. With our dollar being so strong against the yen, Japanese sites like plat would be worth a look. It's probably only the higher priced reels that are worth worrying about, as local shopping is a lot more competitive than it was 5-10 years ago.
  17. Even better now with our dollar so strong against the yen.
  18. Nice work u4l. A pictures well and truly worth a thousand words in this case.
  19. Congrats mate. Good news that mum n bubs are both well. I hope you do switch him onto fishing, but I can't condone the whole power brainwashing! Poor child!!I saw the change in my dad when he became a poppa for the first time. Turned him soft n gooey!! We've given him three grandies under the age of six, so he has toughened back up again!!
  20. Lol. Maximum of 5 per customer!! They're expecting big sales.
  21. Hey protactic. How much battery do you think the minn Kota uses in rougher conditions like that? Well done on the snapper, you're having a good crack at them.
