  1. Picked up a packet myself the other day, just 'cos I liked the look of them.Haven't tried 'em out yet, but look they should be a gun bait for bream, flatties and larger YFW.Like you, spog777, I'm interested to hear feedback from anyone else who has tried them.Cheersarcherfish :cheer:
  2. Bury the neighbourhood cats nice and deep with them as well - problem solved! (Apologies in advance to any feline fanciers )

  8. Photographed on "The Advertiser" dated the day of capture - no other provisos...(Mind you, if you want to give us all a report of the favoured lures of the good old Rainbow Cale, please be my guest...:woohoo: )
  9. No worries, Bangs8Modified "Mully Rules", though (see previous post "biggest mully on a lure") - little sucker has to be photographed against a backdrop of "The Advertiser" dated on the day you caught it. I'm a generous sort of bloke - you have until the 14th February 2011 (St Valentines Day - ain't that sweet?!)Good luck mate..Cheersarcherfish:P
  10. Thanks, jaggerI thought that if I didn't get any bites on this site, I'd try to knock one up myself from perspex or polycarbonate sheeting...after all, it ain't bloody rocket science.Being the lazy bugger that I am though, I thought I'd see whether I could buy one.Cheersarcherfish;) ;)
  11. Bangs8The fishing Gods being what they are, I bet you a half-decent bottle of red (or the equivalent of your liquid refreshment of choice) that you don't catch one next time round... archerfish
  12. Similar body shape, but the Brown-spotted Wrasse does not have pronounced spikes at the front of its dorsal fin, though Kelvin... Looks like Bangs8 will have to go and catch another one of the little buggers, stretch its fins out and get another photo for all of us "armchair experts" out here.
  13. Could possibly be that fins are extended for a mating display. Just Google a few more images on the web (and there are quite a few) and see what you think.Cheersarcherfish
  14. Can any of you S&Hers out there advise me where I might be able to get my grubby little paws on something like this?
  15. Bangs8I'm calling it for a Rainbow Cale (Odax acroptilus) - maximum length supposedly 30cm.Check this link for a start and see if you agree:http://www.ozanimals.com/Fish/Rainbow-Cale/Odax/acroptilus.htmlCheersarcherfish

  18. I think "budgie smugglers" in those conditions might be the reason for at least one undersized cockle....   Happy Australia Day to you as well 4TL.
  19. A few ideas here...http://www.taste.com.au/search-recipes/?q=calamari&publication=CheersarcherfishP.S. Also have a recipe for "Calamari Schnitzel & Seafood Sauce", but I won't post it here because of possible copyright infringement - if you're interested, please PM me.
  20. Squid sashimi - I've never heard any snapper complaining! Cheersaf
  21. Well done, b_b_bUnfortunately, it seems to be a bit like when a car alarm goes off in a shopping centre car park. People will give it a cursory glance... and then keep walking. Or maybe someone's getting the living tripe kicked out of them in full public view, and yet bystanders go by pretending nothing is happening.Welcome to the 21st century - where people don't wish to get involved, for one reason or another.Cheersarcherfish
  22. A trick I learned from an old and wise fisho many years ago for fillets of such species such as Whiting, Gar, Tommies , Mullet etc. is as follows:1. Put the fillets in a shallow tray (old polystyrene meat trays from your supermarket which have been washed and sterilised work a treat)2. Cover the fillets with (preferably) fresh seawater and freeze3. Put the frozen blocks into an appropriately sized freezer bag with the date of freezing written on the bag and seal with a twist tie.4. The seawater keeps the fillets moist and prevents freezer burn. To use, simply defrost in your fridge for a day o
  23. and: Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like bananas...Cheersaf
  24. From what I understand, our Kiwi friends across the ditch have RFLs for freshwater, but none for saltwater - interesting  ...Cheersarcherfish
  25. Champ01Check out these two sites:http://www.australianseafood.com.au/species-index.php?f=218&v=f&p=1andhttp://www.sydneyfishmarket.com.au/FISHline/SpeciesInfo/ClamsCocklesPipis/tabid/166/Default.aspxSeems like the correct temperature of the water might be the key...Cheersarcherfish
