  3. TFCIf your budget extends to it, check out Gavin Solly (highly recommended by Shane Mensforth)at:http://www.kifishing.com.au/(You won't be disappointed.)Cheersarcherfish
  4. "Nilodor Spray Mist Deodoriser 100mL DetailsNilodor Spray Mist Deodoriser, deodorises smells in an average-size room in seconds. Nilodor is ideal for the kitchen, bathroom, nursery, bedroom, in the car, pet smells, ash trays, dust bins and for all areas where unwanted odours occur. Nilodur spray mist effectively neutralises odours. Use Nilodor 100mL pump pack to combat persistent odours and remember "One spray is enough." Cheersarcherfish
  5. Thanks for that, aff - it starts off the same, but ends up a totally different knot.According to the blurb in the article, "The Goose Noose is a simple knot to tie and powerful in battle because it simply does not work against itself at any point."(my underlining)Cheersarcherfish
  6. Thanks, mpete - you've done well. Now all I have to do is find out some way of magnifying this pdf file so my ageing eyes can read it. Cheersarcherfish
  7. Yeah, SoftyMy 3Gb monthly limit just copped a bit of a nudge too... Cheersarcherfish
  8. Any S&Hers out there got a link to a site which shows how to tie the above-mentioned knot? It got a reasonable write-up in the current "Australian Travelling Angler" (pp 40-41) - it's a knot developed by Steve Starling's partner, Jo Moyle-Reiter. The article says that "Anyone interested in a step-by-step diagram can download a jpeg from the photos tab of my Fishingscool page on Facebook."I did a quick Google search without success and I avoid Facebook like the plague, so that's the only reason I pose this question.Cheersarcherfish
  9. G'day S&HersDon't know whether anyone else was watching ET's program on 10 this afternoon and noticed he was plugging his eMag. Checked out the site, logged in, and was pleasantly surprised - 240 pages in all, and it's a good read and a pretty schmick site as well:http://www.escapewithet.com/default.aspxAs an "oldie", I still love the feel and sight of an old-fashioned magazine, but with iPads, kindles, etc., I realise I'm at the tail end of a generation.Cheersarcherfish
  10. Nice little assortment of treasures there, jagger! Is there any particular species pencilled in to christen this lot? :cheer: Cheersarcherfish
  11. Seem to recall a Callop of around 10lb (in the old money) being dragged out of there a few years ago - reckon there was an article about in "SA Angler".Haven't heard anything about the chemical spill, but it wouldn't surprise me...Cheersarcherfish
  12. OK S&HersLooks like it's round to Ranger's place for nosh-up of legendary status!!! Cheersarcherfish
  13. On a whim, I picked up one of these little suckers in a Tackle Shop in Streaky Bay this afternoon:http://www.yamaria.co.jp/english/maria/maria_syou36.htmAnybody know anything about them or had any previous experience with them?Cheersarcherfish
  14. Here's one I bought via mail order many, many moons ago from MO Tackle in Coffs Harbour, with a view to trying it on Yellowtail Kingies (which I still haven't done!). I contacted the guys at MO Tackle recently to see if they could identify it, but no joy. Thought you might like to take a gander, anyway...Cheersarcherfish
  15. If you're really keen, and also like oysters, try smoking some of the little buggers in your oven in a contraption like this:http://www.oystersteady.com.au/index.html(There are a few variations on a theme when you start checking the www.)I can guarantee that they will taste absolutely magnificent!(don't need to brine them, either.)If you can't be bothered doing your own, try these guys:http://www.harrissmokehouse.com.au/products.htmlCheersarcherfish
  16. Has to be beef jerky for me - can consume prodigious amounts of the stuff and it's easy to handle while you're driving...
  17. Well done, abfBy the way, it now looks like we have a new yardstick for measuring fish, i.e. the "BC" (beer can) !!!For example: "I caught a sambo 3 BC long."I hope PIRSA soon come up with a conversion chart (from cm to BC) for legal lengths for fish.Cheersarcherfish
  18. Hey tonybI suspect it's the nature of the site...totally unpredictable, like fishing itself. If things get off course, we either live with them, or do something to get them back "on course". Of course, if our individual "courses" are totally different, we've got to live with that as well! Bloody hell, I think I'm starting to get a bit Zen.Always enjoy your posts anyway, mate.Cheersarcherfish
  19. G'day markoWithout digging too deeply into this site, I suspect this topic may have already had a bit of a run previously.I am not aware of any research that has been done re toxins in fish in West Lakes (or any other bread & butter fisheries, if it comes to that). My question is: If an edible fish (of any description) migrates from a so-called "suspect" area to a "safe" area, how the hell would you tell?!It hasn't affected me so far so far so far so far so far so far...oh shit!!!Cheersarcherfish
  20. I second Tonka's & try2catch1's comments - it's the old "you get what you pay for" rule...Cheersarcherfish
  21. dxfI think you will find it's because there are no Government subsidies for the service to K.I., unlike ferries to some other islands around Australia.Cheersarcherfish
  22. No disrespect Tony BI've given an appropriate period of time to let things work their way through the "system", but I still haven't seen anything in the media (credible or otherwise) that suggests that this might be a vaguest reality...Cheersarcherfish
  23. I saw in the "Sunday Mail" fishing section today that the jetty is currently closed for repairs (as is Moonta). I rang the guy at the Venus Bay Caravan Park who informed me that the repair work is going ahead full-steam and is well over half-way completed (couldn't give me a completion date, though). He also said they're getting a few Sweep off the headlands and there are some good Whiting to be had from Port Kenny jetty. Will keep you all posted...Cheers
