  1. Have seen some caught off the "Falie" about 12-13 years ago around Wedge Island that were roughly the length of pick handles and as fat as... "Sea Fishes of Southern Australia" lists the Australian record as 5.600kg and 109.2cm... Would have loved to have seen that sucker in the flesh... Cheers af
  2. You could start here, Raider: http://searingtackle.com.au/index.php/stockists#sa Good luck! Cheers af
  3. Geoff Wilson (the knot guru) recommends 3 to 5 wraps for a standard Blood Knot, with the suggestion that the lighter the line, the more wraps you should use. Not (no pun intended!) sure what the difference is between a standard and improved Blood Knot, though... Cheers af
  4. Perhaps your language button at the top of screen is not set correctly and you are looking at the Spanish version? I got straight on to their English version site here: http://cinnetic-fishing.com/productos.asp?familia=2&lang=en Cheers af
  5. Another option: http://alvey.com.au/products/premium-wading-bag/ Cheers af
  6. Saw this on Good Chef Bad Chef on Channel 10 yesterday: http://www.goodchefbadchef.com.au/recipe/snapper-collar/ Must admit I haven't heard of the term snapper "collar" before, but the recipe seemed tasty. Cheers af
  7. Where do I get papers big enough to smoke something that size? Cheers af

  11. Lots of interesting stuff in that shop (as well as the pork). Check out the freezer section if you're adventurous - there are also some interesting sauces and pastes... Cheers af
  12. troppo65 (and anyone else who's interested) SPOTLIGHT Stores are your friend. "Joggle" Eyes (i.e. the pupils move around) are available in various sizes from 3mm upwards for the princely sum of $0.99 per packet. If this is not quite what you're chasing, they have any number of glass beads in untold sizes and colours which can quite easily be Superglued on to your jag to provide the right "eye" effect. Cheers af
  13. I spotted this article on the NZ Herald website today: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11359307 Leaving aside the hype, I wonder how big these suckers really grow. The references I have indicate a maximum size of anywhere between 6.0 to 6.4 metres. Any (reliable) reports of anything to support or exceed this? Cheers af PS Hopefully we can leave all of the stuff about Carcharocles megalodon out of this particular thread!
  14. I was up in Darwin last week and noticed this: Unfortunately, it was vandalised to some degree (old story of the minority ruining it for the majority), but it is still a serviceable fishing platform. Further information here: http://www.abc.net.au/local/audio/2013/03/22/3722000.htm Question: Could this concept work in South Australia and, if so, where? Cheers af
  15. This sounded even better when I found out what it was: Explanation as follows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_pineapple Cheers af
  16. Just had the pleasure of visiting Japan recently - an interesting delicacy spotted in Hakodate: Cheers af

  21. Shane & Brett Mensforth published "Baits, Rigs & Lures for South Australian Fishing" back in 2010 (I think it is still available). It has a lot of good information on most of the commonly-targeted SA species.CheersafPS Agree with Knackers about "Swainston's Fishes of Australia"
