  3. I dont reply to forums much anymore, but i cant let this one past,Fishing is so much more than throwing in a line and wanting a bag limit,Its the planning the trip, the thrill of a new spot, the night before tying rigs and dreaming of the mecca fish, the sun rising as your heading out with wildlife and dolphins, its the unexpected, the never knowing, the antisipation, watching the rod tip while enjoying a cuppa.always learning a lifetime couldnt teach you everything, never boring, the satifacion when , yes not often or always, but the times it does all come together.A sport you can enjoy with 3 g
  4. I take them both landbased, all good, niether boat fishing, the collie wants to round up any schools and the kelpie flies off the boat at the birds, they still love the boat because they know the hose will come out when i bring her back in.ali

  6. I was 10 years old and my dad owned half a shack at Port Augusta, school holidays, dads 10 foot tinny, and oars, i know lol, no moter,! No fishing bans and if there were limits i didnt know them, We rowed straight out from the front of the shacks to a (channel marker) it was an old stick that moved with the tide, the swaying told us when the tide was turning, Just on daylight, we rigged the handlines with a big slop line we used to call them each, and settled in for a hot milo for me and a tea for dad, before tackling the tommies, My big red handline went banging along the bottom of the boat,

  8. Hi,Yeah mate there still out there at it, making there way toward the whyalla end of the Pt Augusta shacks, i assume they will get rid of the old markers, friggin sticks everywhere.A boat got pinged for fishing (in the channel) he faught the fine saying the channel wasnt defined, true enugh, then all of a sudden they can find the money and say it was in the pipeline all along, now the poor crabbers ave to sit just outside, Ali
  9. Hey guys, were not sure on the weight, sharpy weighed her in out the front of the tackle shop, but im getting a digital set for meself one day.The length i saw though, cant wait for another one.Christmas day i got out for a couple of hours in the morning and we got 2 rats, crabs, and played with new lures.
  10. Was a day to remember thats for sure!Again guys if ya coming this way anytime soon watch the channel markers, they have one new one then and old one that lines you up to go through a sand bank with the only mangrove tree on in right in the middle.I do hope they fix it soon, Ali
  11. 24.4kgs/54 pounds, sorry bout that, measured 115cm conservative, had been on ice a bit, bloody big an heavy.Port Augusta, channel, near entrance to pattersons, new channel markers everywhere up here and the old ones not gone yet, so be wary if your coming up this way, assuming the old ones will come down or it will be confusing especialy at night.Ali
  12. Hey all,Saturday the 20th of nov, a day to remember.I and my son went out in my boat,14 ft stacer, mostly just to chill, life had been a little rough of late, and maybe get a few salmon and a feed of crabs.First we tried a creek runoff as the tide was outgoing, nothing but shitties, time to shift and get settled for a cuppa for smoko, we didnt get out early and werent to fussed about the tides either, just a nice day on the water. We moved and anchored just outside of one of the new channel markers popping up everywhere up here, in went the berley and out came the thermos. After a cuppa a little
  13. Hey all,Especialy parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents, basicly anyone that spends time with the little ones,Christmas is upon us, and what better gift than a new rod, and most importantly time spent with them fishing.I went out with my son yesterday, a man of 22 now, and he was remembering the first rod i ever got him (was Santa actualy) the first time he used it, the biggest fish on it, in great detail, since then we have had many a fishing trip, and a great many memories, surely one of the best and longest lasting gift you could give.Ali
  14. Nice recipe and similar to what i do,if i happen to have any, i use half baked salmon and half smoked, for a gentle smokey flavour I also use half breadcrumbs and half stuffin mix to coat them, the dry one in thje box, just to add variety when sambos are coming out of your ears,my mum uses a packet of french onion soup too, definatly the mash as a base.Ali
  15. Im a great fan of Steve Starling and im sure he used to say wash down gently with soapy water, never forcing water in reels, and if greasing or oiling try and keep it off the line,I use an anaseed soap in the boat if ive got grease or sunscreen on my hands,Perhaps its an old tale because in the past the ingredients were just fish oil?Ali
  16. Hey Brett, caught the bugger on a live tommy ruff, weve also had success with live gar and live trumpeters,My partner an I really just needed to get out in the boat, life an all, an took a mate that had been missing the tight lines,Wasnt the best tides, or time of day,I got my first lever drag for christmas,(love my partner)We were out in my stacer without a lot of the fancy gear,so with little tide i let the livie find his own depth and was muckin around with the drag, about 3pm, with no more than some tommies and salmon trout it was goin to be last cuppa and up stakes for home, The base model
