  1. Sign of the times unfortunately. Definately contributing factors for recreational fishing numbers falling in this state from 450' date='000 to 236' date='0000 since 1990.How many of us have large mortgages etc we will never pay off due to huge power/other service bills and rubbish levies that end up in general revenue? No wonder more and more are landbound as the boat becomes a distant priority.TB[/quote'']I dunno, boat ownership is one of them things that puzzles me.You don't need a 30k trailerboat. I had one sure. But getting rid of it didn't mean I had to be boatless forever. You can easily
  2. Give it a couple weeks till me and the rest of the fairweather brigade are on holidays and the 20minute queues will be common place. 7am on Saturday and Sunday's over the holiday season is mayhem! Forget your web cams mate, bring a bacon sanga down the ramp and enjoy the shenanigans.... It's like the circus cross with fight club Queue the Benny hill music please
  3. Thanks for the report mate. Since my boats even smaller and less capable out there, im really hoping to head out ti some (im guessing) similar grounds shortly. I do hate when I can't really plane though, and just kinda motor around in the chop getting wet All worth it though if them Snapps are about for you mate :woohoo:I will make a break for it again shortly... Not that far, but far enough for me lol, so keep up yer killa tales cos it helps with my motivation to try replicate it Cheers mate
  4. I can say Im not guilty of anything, nor have I ever been. You might be surprised at how many rec anglers take regulations very seriously. On the specific Snapper issue though, we all were given a reprieve this year while commercial fishers are having the extended snapper ban straight up. Could you imagine the uproar if a longliner is spotted out there in early December? Yet it seems plenty just don't give a damn. These reports of Snapper caught and kept during the ban are getting pretty widespread and im just as annoyed to hear about it as some of the others posting on here.... Im surprised
  5. I ended up getting my hands on a 7ft Berkley Diablo 6-10.Only been out once with it, and only caught a big fiddler, but it is pretty light although very strong.Reckon this will suit my budget and my needs for a bit :)Do like the idea of the Jewel though. I bloody love my little 2-5 so far :woohoo:
  6. Why not ;)My view; The story is factual and there does not appear to be any Rec bashing by the journo. The fact is though, that had the clown held a rec license, he would have still been breaking the law. I get that TB.I would also conclude that the amount of abalone and the prior convictions suggest a criminal venture... Ie Illegal commerce... Ie commercial activity (illegal). You could make an argument that the fella was not a recreational angler. So when it comes to tacking on an extra fine.... The fisheries could likely have gone down the unlicensed commercial fisho track. The trouble with t
  7. Thanks man, that footage was insane!Crazy to think there is so much going on half a km below the surface!Hey, also them fiddlers and smoothies early on just munging on the bait while the big snapper just watched that's the story of my snapper fishing haha.Cheers
  8. Had a very enjoyable morning in the port, but couldn't get hold of a mulloway before the tide started to belt.... Spewin about that aspect of it did have a good run in the tinny though, and caught a banjo shark/fidler on my new Diablo.Few salmon trout about but not very dense schools... Where we were anyway. Will have to start fishing with dynamite I think :PAs soon as snapper ban lifts im heading for the horizon.Cheers
  9. Number 1 - I do like the new avatar Just Me... Look forward to many more posts lol :)Number two - Good interesting info there UHF :)Also.. This marine park rubbish is SUCH a massive fiasco, and completely out of this world (the faux science, the public attempts at swaying opinion, the irony that they can't even protect Port River Bream and Mullies... And the confusion/oh the confusion). Thanks for the latest chapter THF, sure it's not the last of these shenanigans .
  10. I've heard good things about 'powerdirector' it's $50 which seems reasonable. But Milmo, what a great idea!!! Windows Movie Maker, sheesh im dumb sometimes :silly:I just checked it out then, and will have a muck around... Thanks
  11. Hey HeyIm very much in need of advice re video editing software. Ideally something that'll not cost me But yeah, a link to FREE video editing software that's good, or best value software.I used to use NERO. It had loads of good transitions and was easy to use for drag and drop editing on a timeline and cool effects as well as freedom to stick a few audio tracks etc etc.Trouble is that computer is long gone and I have shite loads of raw video I would like to edit up.I don't want to muckaround with the dubious legalities of P2P networks, but would appreciate all help, offers and advice. What do
  12. That's just bullshit! I'd rather not look at it on the site and don't even consider the matter worthy of debate.
  13. Recently got a 2-5kg Jewel for my birthday and loooove it!It's paired with a 2500 Twinpower and is magic :woohoo:Now, I do have a 8kg Airstrike rod with a 4000 Shimano Rarenium. This was planned for lures for mullies mainly and the odd snapper and is also good for dead baits. I'll still use my big UglyStik for live baiting, but im just itching to get a heavier rated Jewel to replace the Airstrike.Any suggestions what Jewel to get??? I've seen the Barra which is rated to 10kg, but they also have the 762 (longer) 8kg snapper stick.Which is best for port river in my tinny mainly???Oh and is ther
  14. Hey mate and welcome :)Good time of year to get back into fishing. Since im not sure if you're north or south, I won't tell you to go down the Port lol, but I love it down there, especially any rocky areas for the Bream :)I don't do much freshwater fishing so can't help to much other than suggest you look under freshwater on here and especially THE MIGHTY MURRAY section. The amount of good fish caught by members on here will blow you away .Also would suggest checking out the SAFWAA club, I am not a member, but have mates who are and your very best way to hook a cod or huge reddy or Callop is
  15. Brenton, that's incredible mate! Bloody awesome stuff :woohoo: Thanks for putting them pics up
  16. Lol, yeah he was doin the filming and videoed the live baits swimmin around instead of me catchin the fish :laugh:He is pretty keen to catch one now though... Hey, but so am I :woohoo:
  17. Yeah it was that could even be my little boat there too hahaha
  18. My wife and daughter went to the x-mas pageant with the in-laws... so Me and my boy headed for the Port :)10 November 2012http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vPu355cNYE
  19. I like sending my mrs into tackle stores and see how they treat her.Unlike me she is modest about her fishing prowess and probably a better angler too! Not your average chick fisho, she has gone over 40 on Bream, over a meter on mullies and over 20lb on plenty of snapper (one while 6months preggas way out at the steamer channel). So, you can imagine how insulted she feels by arrogance & poor treatment in a tackle store I've been lucky enough to have forum member Shauno assist me in Ray & Anne's and was good service . Apart from that, Sport Fishing Scene is my mrs favourite for s
  20. I have one core tackle store. That is Tackle&Tucker. They have outlets at nth haven and st Kilda. If I really need something like to order my TwinPower Spool, they are the go to people.Apart from that, I have moved around a bit and spent some time in the bigger local stores like Home of the Fisherman (port rd), SpOrt fishing scene, and Got One on the main Nth road. The point I'd like to make is this. I am an absolute budget angler. So that means, if I buy something it needs to be low cost, but must be quality and appropriate. So going into a tackle store you can say, I want a bit of kit
  21. Mate, I'd ask your local tackle shop for advice on local areas if you have no luck on here.Im very keen to get a shark or two in my tinny this summer, so am on a similar mission to yourself.I will be fishing metro and use what has served us well in the past... That is a live slimey floated out on a balloon while burleying for snapper etc.I used to use an old 20kg tuna rod, but my mate has just bought a new light game rod for the job. I think the trouble with Shark fishing is that you can't really choose what size shark takes the bait! With.just a live slimey, we have hooked more 3-4 ft bron
  22. Cheers AFF, was wondering how you did today. Shame about the reds, but sounds like fun anyway mate! Hey, make sure you say gday to rick for me next time you see him... Reckon we really miss him on the boards... That dude is full of adventures and I still quote him as the only one to give me advice that made a difference when I was trying to catch my first legal mully
  23. :laugh:Bwahahaha, why do you keep goin out fishin with us two clowns :laugh:That was a cool video I reckon... Heaps of fun hey... But must remember ya can't land an eagle ray with lip grippers :cheer: oh and my net is a piece o shit... How we ever manage to get any fish onboard I don't quite know ;)Love pics of beasts on the black tinny mats hey... I feel like posting a few "fish on the Pigs floor" photos after seeing that little beast of yours :)Cheers man... Until next week :woohoo:
