Jack. got a reaction from Wert in The Snapper Are RIGHT up the port!!!?? any ideas Why ???
The tackle shops are onto it now, and reports are flying in of Snapper in some rather unusual places....Years ago, they used to say Snapps would venture right up the north arm and all through barker inlet and the port... Of course, only 20 years back pelican point saw regular catches!!! NOW they are back. Mulloway fishers are setting baits only to get monstered by Big Reds  I have first hand accounts of Snapper all over the Port, and as hard as it is to believe,, they are here, having crazy adventures hunting and terrorising the port river system like packs of wolves!!!Why is this I wonder? I tend to think the cleaner water from industry cleaning up its act may be at a critical stage where things are getting back to normal?!? I know it ain't bull dust anyway... Far too many captures over the last few months to be a disbeliever any longer....Just need to get me one

Mate, whats the story? Do you have anything positive to contribute? Stick up a decent fishing report and please god save me from organisations established to represent the rec angler! Personally, i think its only a matter of time before the carpark goes and residential buildings riseim just not really that clear on who would pocket the $25mil.

I couldn't give a rats razoo about the history. It's the outcome of this mess that needs fixing.Reading all the crap stored in Sarfac, pirsa or most other organisations dusty safes would be a waste of my life.Send a quick email off to Tom Kousantonis and tell him to stop saving all the revenue to pay off his speeding fines so we can keep the ramp going!

No, not lazy at all, but neither am I inclined to call you. We've spoken to Craig Evans directly about the topic in a lengthy meeting (as it directly affects our business) and I'm happy to take Moggy on his word about the things Gary Johanson had to say. Surely if the information is confidential and you tell me and then I repeat it, it's on your head as much as mine?I'm just wondering why you would choose to come here to comment on something like this if you have nothing you can actually contribute to the thread other than cryptic messages? If I recall correctly this isn't the first time you've alluded to having special 'inside information' on a topic that you 'couldn't share with the public'. You can call it healthy skepticism if you like.

I only fish for snapper land based and my rig is a little different to most, but my favourite is a snelled gang of three 3/0 Owner SSW Cutting Point hooks. If I run out of the Owners then a Gamakatsu Octopus is a good alternative.Cheers!SS

Hi all, well 2013 has been a very slow year for Snapps and myself fishing wise and i thought i'd fill a few of Snapps mates in on whats happened.Snapps had a heart attack 3 years back and some stints put in, also for the past 3 years he has been waiting to get a complete knee replacement after having %@#* it with sport as a youth. Knee op happened this year and after 3 months of recovery he was about to go back to work but had another heart attack last week, resulting in a 3 way by-pass op straight away, then 2 days later had a Lung collapse. So my buddy is in hospital recovering at the moment and not feeling the best, although a lot better than last week. I know he reads the site all the time and i'm sure when he can he will look in and find this and it will cheer him up a bit So to Snapps, mate HTFU ya got 2 lungs get well soon buddy and we will be out hitting those Reds and KG's at Pt Pirie, the Bream, Mulloway and YF in those very special creeks we love to fish sooner than you know To his lovely wife Bec our thoughts are with you and the family, chin up he'll be home soon cheers chuck

Jack. got a reaction from jimbojames in What is the reasoning behind Split Grips ?
I reckon the split grip is mainly just cosmetic appeal. The best sensitivity is going to come from a cork grip anyway.Having said the above, I really liked a mates Shimano Jewel when having a loan once and so soon found myself in a tackle shop with my 2500 Twinpower reel in one hand and a fist fulla cash in the other. I tried a few rods and found the light weight jewel balanced very nicely - This is easy I think because the split grip design would've given the makers length options to suit the balancing with standard modern 2000ish reels. In contrast the shorter full cork rods in say a GLoomis are (I gather) made with much more precision re: how they balance - with little length to play with behind the reel, the whole thing needs closer consideration - what Im suggesting is the jewel designers could've made whatever they wanted re: taper and length forward of the reel seat and then just added length and a chunk of split grip to balance her out for a generic 2000ish reel. - where-as much more consideration is required when there is no butt to play with. There is an argument for high sensitivity directly from the blank I guess, but cork is always going to be lighter than any other material i'm aware of an highly sensitive anyway. On balancing, I could see someone getting by with slight butt weight but I used a mates poorly balanced tip heavy rod one morning and I nearly threw it at him - very poor and awkward.Horses for courses, but I like all my rods to be well balanced, that way you begin any action from a neutral position - fighting fish and targeting lures (and baits for that matter) is tough enough without permanently compensation for poor weight distribution. You only want to use the energy you have to use- let the rod sling yer lure to spot x and use the same rod to angle your fish back to you - hope that made some sense - if not I can always cut-paste from a more reliable source of opinion -P.s What's the difference between an onion and a Port Adelaide player?? Nobody cries when you peel a Port Player

been getting a megaload of bream the last few days down the coorong. Averaging 10- 15 a session. Here is the best for this year at 48.5cm ( lost a few suspected as being bigger and many around the 40cm mark ) Last year i managed a 52cm and am yet to beat it.Bit of a horse hey ? Only problem is my mate caught this one and not me !!! took him to my secret spot and he beats my PB for this year by a cm .. oh well. This is the photo of him and his monster bream.

So you are actually fishing Salt creek then and not the Coorong ? I know the Coorong is right behind you but when your fishing off the beach it is more Goolwa beach to the mouth and then Salt creek to the mouth , which is the more productive side of the mouth but a hell of a drive back to get to the mouth . Most of the beach down that way does all right .

You can take YFW at will from the reserve side of the breakwall - some dudes still did and I believe the fine was 700-800 bux.I fished there until it was pointed out to me I couldnt- damn. Was a silly rule since the fish can swim through the drain thriugh the blocks and clear accross the parsts of the breakwall at high tide anyhow See you in the spring U4L

Morning Hookers! Today I have some exciting news; the St Kilda - Chapman's Creek aquatic reserve has been lifted for land based fishing as of midnight last night. The reserve has been there for approximately 25 years and this morning Minister Gago, Lisa Vlahos (Member for Taylor) and Susan Close (Member for Port Adelaide) came down to announce that it has now been opened. What this means is that it is now legal for people to fish and crab, land based, on the right hand side of the St Kilda break wall and all along the water front of the right hand side. Some things to be aware of:Bait digging and fishing (other than land based) are still prohibited as are collecting or removing any bottom dwelling organism other than Blue Swimmer Crabs which may be taken by rake/hand/hoop net. A full fact sheet is available from St Kilda Tackle & Tucker or available here.Get out there and get stuck into them. I personally reckon the Flathead fishing will be great in some of the little channels and troughs that form on turn of the tides.Edit: There was supposed to be a pic to go with this, but it doesn't seem to like me today.
